New Additions

My jade mail from Jade Bangle Shop/Dang Dang Studio has arrived today! I love this lavender and green combo. I was debating between this and an icy gray-lavender bangle that was nearly twice the price of this one (and that one is currently on sale) but the purple color in this just really caught my eye.

I also bought an emerald green ruyi pendant. I should have paid better attention to the size dimensions because it's smaller than I expected 😅 But I am very happy with my purchase

Randomly received $550?

I had $550 deposited into my account at random by somebody I don’t know. They emailed me saying they contacted PayPal and sent me a screenshot so that I know I’m not getting scammed and that PayPal is supposed to contact me about the dispute.

PayPal never did. I can’t file a dispute on the transaction through the app because it was paid with a credit card. Now I have a request to send the $550 back.

PayPal’s AI assistant was extremely unhelpful. I sent them an email a couple of days ago but no response yet.

The person who sent the transaction emailed me again saying it was an honest mistake.

Is this a common scam? I just want them to go away lol but if it’s legit I really don’t want to hold on to someone’s money that I never asked for in the first place. I’m not even sure how they got my email information.

Deck interview spread

I got a new deck! This is the Lunalapin Tarot.

TBH, I’ve always loved bunnies. When I was a kid I begged my parents for a pet rabbit (that never happened) and my favorite childhood stuffed animal was a bunny. I, myself, am a bunny in the Chinese zodiac 😂 I feel like I really empathize with them and they are just so, so cute. My dog also LOVES bunnies but for very different reasons 😅 (see my previous spread post)

So naturally, I was very drawn to this deck when I saw it. The cardstock feels very nice and shuffles very well. The edges are foiled and I’ve found that those types are cards tend to stick together when shuffling but not these!

So anyway, onto the spread, which surprised me for such an adorable deck:

What is the energy of this deck? Judgement - Revealing the truth that leads to self-awareness, personal accountability. I’ve always struggled with fully understanding Judgement so I would love to hear any other interpretations that you may have.

What is the strength of this deck? Justice - strong at clear yes/no, decisions, truth-seeking matters, cause/effect, maybe karmic readings/cycles

What is the weakness of this deck? Temperance- this deck is blunt and direct - the truth can harsh and it’s not very good at softening the blow. Less likely to give a “blended” answer.

How can I best work with this deck? 3 of Wands - through expansion, exploring possibilities, planning ahead

What does this deck ask of me? 8 of Swords - avoid self-limitation/self-imposed restrictions, self-doubt, stop second guessing myself, stop living in my head with anxious thoughts

Underlying energy: Ace of Wands - I immediately thought of a firecracker 😂 Though tbh maybe the Tower would be a better representation of that. But underneath there’s a lot of potential fiery energy that this deck can offer. And with Judgement, Justice and Temperance, it’s tough on love and not so great at softening the blow.

Asking your deck something you already know the answer to

One of the things I like to do when I want practice is to ask your deck something that already happened that you know the answer to. Today I had asked what happened on my walk this morning with my dog.

Content warning: animal distress/rescue

For context, my dog has a thing for going after bunnies. He spotted one lying in some grass and it ran off, but while doing so it ran and fell into our neighborhood’s retention pond. I watched it swimming around the edge as it tried to find a spot where it could get out, but the edges have no inclines so without intervention, there’s no way that this bunny would be able to get out by itself. And I knew that my dog would try to grab him from me the moment I pulled him out of the water.
I was able to get the bunny out unharmed, but my dog knocked me over and dragged me in the grass a bit 😅

The cards I pulled were the 8 of Swords, 7 of Pentacles, 9 of Wands, 7 of Cups, and 3 of Swords.

8 of Swords - this represents the bunny’s predicament and me trying to figure out what to do. I felt trapped by the idea that I wouldn’t able to rescue him without my dog grabbing him in the process. Every time I got close, my dog got really excited and got really close to the edge of the pond.

7 of Pentacles - assessing the situation

9 of Wands - this is the bunny preserving under stress. I could see him struggling to find a way out as he kept swimming along the side. He’s battle weary.

7 of Cups - me thinking about multiple scenarios and choices. How will I rescue without my dog grabbing him? I thought about tying my do up to something briefly, but I felt like that would go poorly. I even thought about bringing my dog home and then returning by myself.

3 of Swords - I think has to do more with my emotional turmoil of watching this bunny struggle to get out. I could not walk away knowing it was there and I could do something about it. This also may represent me getting knocked around in the process during the rescue operation, which I think my dog and I have different views on what counts as a “rescue” 😂

I would love to know if anyone has any other ideas or insight on this card pull 😊

Question about perilla

I have a tía tô plant, which is perilla, that I got from a Vietnamese nursery. The leaves are all-green, which I mention there’s also a purple leaf variety. Is this the same as Korean perilla or can it be used as a substitute? My plant to me has a citrusy flavor. I’ve been wanting to make some kkaennip kimchi but not sure if the flavor profile is correct.

[Product Question] Skinfix Barrier Balancing Water Cream sensitivity?

I just used this and felt a light burning sensation on my face so I had to wash it off. I’m not sure if it’s the niacinamide because I’ve used other products with niacinamide in them (though not consistently) or if it’s something else. Anyone else with a similar issue?

Recipes for dưa chua and xào ruột heo dưa chua?

Can anybody help me out here?

I’ve seen a few dưa chua recipes - some use vinegar and others just use salt and rely on lactofermentation. Which one is more traditional? Which one tastes better?

I’m also looking for a Xào Ruột Heo Dưa Chua recipe (stir fried pork intestines with pickled mustard greens).

TIA!

Remote positions

Anyone here working remotely? Curious to know about your position and if you enjoy this kind of work. Also wondering if anyone decided to take a remote RN position. I’m interested in clinical quality and clinical documentation (and I already perform these chart audits at my current job while also working as a FT provider) but it seems like all of those positions only require an RN. It would be quite a pay cut if I go that route but I am so miserable in my current position. I work in urgent care, 16 hour shifts.
