Need recommendations to buy my first e ink reader

I’m looking to buy my first dedicated E Ink e-reader and could use some recommendations. My main priorities are an open ecosystem, no subscriptions, and the ability to download my own books (EPUBs, PDFs, etc.) and read them offline. I’d really like a microSD card slot so I can carry a huge library without relying on cloud storage. I don’t mind buying books from different stores, but I don’t want to be locked into one ecosystem like Kindle. Good PDF support, long battery life, USB-C, and a sharp black-and-white display are all important to me, while note-taking isn’t(nite taking will still be a plus). I’m based in Saudi Arabia, so decent international warranty support or reliability would be a plus since there aren’t many local repair options. If you were buying today with these requirements, what would you get and why?

I never had a hive or been a beekeeper and live in a dense modern populated city with little access to parks and flowers.

I’ve been wondering if I could keep a beehive on the rooftop of a fifth-floor building. I’m okay with feeding them sugar syrup, or even grains if that’s a thing. But would it actually be possible? They would probably forage from flowers, but also from leftovers and trash. Because of that, I assume the honey most likely wouldn’t be suitable for human consumption. I just want to know if it’s possible to keep a hive on the fifth floor or not. I saw a guy in NYC doing it on YouTube, but it seemed strange that he was selling his honey. How would he know the bees didn’t choose to collect sugar from junk food in the trash, like leftover donuts or spilled soda on the street?
