During the lead-up to the Final War, the clashes between Izuku and Metal grew more frequent and more desperate.

Izuku struggled to move, his body screaming in protest as Shigaraki reached toward him one touch away from erasure.
Then a clap split the air.
Todo landed between them like a wall, the shockwave of his Quirk already repositioning the battlefield before Shigaraki could process what had happened.
Todo: “My brother.”
Izuku: (breathless) “Todo… I tried. I pushed as hard as I could, I’m sorry

Todo: “Be quiet and listen.”
He did not look back at Izuku. His eyes were fixed on Shigaraki with the easy contempt of a man who has already decided the outcome.
Todo: “There is an old saying the mighty do not last, they are like a dream on a spring night. The world believes this. Heroes burn bright and burn out. It says so on every statistic, every casualty report, every grave that gets dug a little younger than it should.”
He cracked his knuckles.

Todo: “But you and I are not the world, Midoriya. We are heroes. That distinction is not a comfort it is a responsibility. Bakugou did not fall so that you could apologize for still standing.. That is what it means to be the exception.”

Izuku Midoriya was in his third year of middle school when he found himself face to face with Aoi Todo, first-year hero course student and winner of U.A.’s Sports Festival.
The Alleyway was quiet, save for the muffled groaning of a few boys nursing fresh bruises a short distance away.
Todo studied him with an expression of complete and unhurried sincerity. “Tell me, young future hero what type of woman do you like?”

Izuku’s face went scarlet. He opened his mouth, closed it, and looked anywhere but at the enormous first-year in front of him.
“I I’m not sure I can say it out loud.”
“It’s just you and me here.”
The groaning in the background ticked up slightly.
Izuku exhaled. “I… I like women with a — a big…” He gestured vaguely. “You know. Like Megan Thee Stallion.”
The moment the words left his mouth, something strange happened.
Images hit them both at the same time — flashes of a shared past that neither could fully account for. Two kids, years younger, laughing together. A rivalry that felt more like brotherhood. Moments that felt real even though neither of them could explain why.
Todo stared at him for a long, silent beat.
Then he placed a firm hand on Izuku’s shoulder, his expression solemn with conviction.

“My brother,” he said. “I will make you into the greatest hero you can possibly be.”
