Somatic shadow work. This is how I do shadow work. I’ve combined Jungian theory with somatic exploration and emotional parts work. Thoughts?

For 30 mins in the morning and evening I am laying down. A thought will arise and I’ll ask myself ‘what do I not want to feel right now/what feeling am I avoiding by thinking this’? Sensations will arise. I’ll focus on the sensations with a demeanour of ‘you can be here, I don’t want to change you’ and just notice the subtle movements of the sensation. This is the acceptance of the shadow

Like if it’s a memory about abandonment it’ll be in the neck or the jaw, if it’s thinking of ways to make sure someone is on good terms with me, I’ll find it’ll be in the same place because it’s trying to prevent abandonment.

I’ll hold attention there until an attempt to distract me shows up, or some resistance. Then I’ll focus on the resistance, the part of me that doesn’t want to feel this sensation and I’ll feel that with a sense of ‘you can be here, I don’t want to change you’. While holding space for the feeling and the part that doesn’t want to feel it, I ask if I can let this battle go, when? Now. Then it feels like a dam breaking and I’m overwhelmed with a feeling like love, optimism, grief, anger etc. without the resistance. It feels like it’s moving through me and dissolving.

Am I letting go correctly? Worried I’m doing too much

Like if it’s a memory about abandonment it’ll be in the neck or the jaw, if it’s thinking of ways to make sure someone is on good terms with me, I’ll find it’ll be in the same place because it’s trying to prevent abandonment.

Then it feels like a dam breaking and I’m overwhelmed with a feeling like love, optimism, grief, anger etc. without the resistance. It feels like it’s moving through me and dissolving.

Am I doing too much here? Should I just think of something and feel that one sensation in the same place for 30 mins? Should I not follow the sensation around the body? Am I being too cognitive with this method?

Fistulatomy wound starting to sting and bleed more 3 weeks after surgery. Should I be concerned?

Week 1 was the expected blood, week 2 was just green discharge, now it’s starting to sting albeit on the surface, and the sitz bath water
/gauze has blood on it. This was after one or two big stools.

Is this an expected part of healing?

Just had a fistulatomy. Antibiotics questions, experience and gratitude

So after 3 months of seton hell and agony I just had a fistulatomy. Before the surgery they weren’t sure if it was going to be a seton replacement or a a fistulatomy. The surgeons are on a factory line so they didn’t tell me how deep it was or how big the wound is etc. just sent me on my way home again. Right now I’m in no pain probably thanks to local anaesthetic and the first BM didn’t hurt at all.

What should I be expecting from here on out? Unbelievable pain and immobility for the next two weeks? What kind of pain is it? A muscle soreness or a stinging like the seton? They said they cut some muscle, am I going to be pooping myself nonstop? Is discharge worse or less than with a seton?

My final question is, they told me it’s a must I take antibiotics. They said that when I had the seton in and I did not. I don’t like antibiotics and I don’t think most of them are safe. Can I get away with not taking them in this instance?

Finally I just wanted to say thank you for this community for just helping me understand what was going on when the NHS abandoned me. It really helped on the mental side and I hope to contribute similarly if I recover fully

I’m meant to have a fistulatomy on Saturday. My fistula wound has been painful and swollen all week. Will they cancel the surgery?

My fistula has randomly become inflamed and sore and there’s small amounts of blood on my gauze when I remove it. The seton isn’t as loose as it was before. Does this matter or will they still be able to operate? I think a delay would destroy me genuinely, especially when it’s been so fine for the past 2 weeks prior. I don’t even know what causes these ups and downs.

So Vini and Mbappe are on 4 goals each. Are they the problem or are you guys the problem?

I entered this place and there were 20 threads at a time saying they’re this and that. The whole team is collapsing because of them.

You were begging for them to leave and saying purchasing them was a mistake.

Were you guys right or was your understanding of football just one-dimensional? Curious

Update: The reactionary, whiney Madrid fanbase have flocked here to say ‘they can’t play together that’s what we meant!’ When with a quick search you can find 10s of threads saying Vini can’t play football and is finished and we should sell him.

They are fickle like the fans in the Bernabeu, and have a toddlers level of emotional constancy

Should I stop Farm work before my follow up appointment?

Had an an abscess drained, confirmed fistula. 2 months in still drainage and pain, I’m doing farm work. A lot of heavy lifting and squatting, I have my first follow up appointment to determine if I’m ready for surgery in June 23rd. Should I stop the farm work? How do they decide if I’m ready?

What’s the best horror game to buy and play with my partner and her sister?

I quit gaming for 7-8 years and came back purely for Battlefield 6. I quit campaign/single player games cold turkey because of how much they’d suck me in.

I’ve missed a lot. My partners sister is coming to stay with us and they want to play a horror game that doesn’t require the two analog stick fidelity that say Resident Evil 4 Remake would. I remember hearing about PT (?) the cancelled horror game from Kojima.

Are there any others like that? Horror games that require decisions and walking and exploration instead of high octane combat. Thanks

Has anyone found any success with TRE for eating disorders or metabolic issues?

My partners parents were obsessed with her weight when she was a child and gave her tiny portions for a long time. It’s really messed with her metabolism and doctors have said now she can’t exercise, she also gets stomach aches after eating tiny meals. Could TRE help?

Is the wound meant to heal?

I’m on week 5 and the post seton placement wound is still pink and slightly raised. Is this normal? Or is skin meant to grow over it

BR players do you still play multiplayer?

I’ve played BF MP since I was 12 but since Redsec, my first BR, I can’t go back to MP. It’s just too easy and formulaic, the stakes feel so much lower and I don’t feel engaged. This isn’t a good thing. BF multiplayer used to be my favourite gaming experience. Anyone else feel similarly?

My pain was fine for the first 3 weeks. Then suddenly I began to get huge episodes of pain in the morning, sharp, stabbing pains that felt like they were on the surface. It’s unbearable, the worst pain I’ve ever felt at times. The wound is inflamed, pink and swollen above the surface of my skin. Here are the things I’ve changed just before the pain began:

- Before: Not much drinking. Now: 4 bouts of heavy drinking (A lot of events and weddings and a leaving party for me)
- Before: I would dry the area with gauze and then place a surgical dressing/plaster on it. Now: After a shower I make less of an effort to dry it, I just stuff the gauze in there after a doctor told me it wasn’t necessary.
- I’m African so my hair is course and when it gets coated in pus it becomes sharp and hard. Maybe it’s irritating the wound? But that’s always been there
- Infected? Every time a doctor looks at it they say it’s infected and prescribe abx. But my bloods are all normal and don’t indicate infection, plus antibiotics can’t reach the perineal area as not enough blood flow, it would have no effect. I’m pretty sure the area is always meant to be infected.
- The knot. I never used to move it and it was fine. After intense pain I finally figured out how to move it. Now I make sure to keep the knot closer to the anus than to the wound. It’s still unbelievably painful.
- Shower and bidet. I use the bidet and shower head to splash water on the wound with varying degrees of pressure. I feel a little pain when I do and think nothing of it as it has to stay clean. I wake up pain free but after my bowel movement and shower, there’s pain for 3 hours then it starts to fade a little.

I just can’t figure out how it’s become so painful so suddenly. I am meant to be moving to Portugal to work on a work away farm on Sunday. And if it hurts like this I’ll have to cancel and stay in London which would drive me to depression. Is there anything I can do to stop this sudden onset of pain?

I’m 4 weeks out from a seton placement and it still hurts so much. I think it’s the seton cutting into skin. Pain killers don’t help. What can I do to stop this it’s agony

The seton feels like it’s hard to move and is up against the skin, it’s not loose and I don’t want to manipulate it as I’m worried I’ll dislodge something or undo the surgery
