I’m completely resenting my husband.

My husband frequently travels for work so I’m left alone with the baby (11 weeks) 2 dogs, cat, and myself while recovering from a c-section. He’s home on the weekends and gets one or two weeks of work from home each month. Any time he is home he completely destroys the house. Stuff and trash left everywhere. He does help me with the baby when I ask (and lots of times he conveniently has something to do “really quick” before taking her) he will wash and sterilize bottles, give her baths, but I have to beg him to clean. I’ve had to repeatedly go into work on maternity leave so that’s something else I’ve had to deal with. I’ll be going back to work full time in 2 weeks. When my husband is gone, he gets a full nights sleep, his company pays for any food he wants, and I’m stuck at home running on 5 hours on a good night and living off of ramen, taquitos, and hot pockets because he lost all of our dishwater in the move and those are the only things I have any time to cook. Going back to work is going to be hell doing this by myself moreso than it actually is. I’ve voiced my concerns, he apologizes, fixes it for a few days, then just goes right back. Why am I having to be the one to suffer? I’m assuming just because he watches the baby from time to time when I need to run to work (she comes with me if I’m not home which is a whole other struggle in itself) or when I need to run an errand, that he thinks he’s doing a good job and being a parent. I talked to him about the fact that I’m struggling with PPD and that going back to work and putting my baby in daycare full time is causing me so much anxiety and making it worse. But he just calls me every fucking day to complain about stupid work shit that at this point, I’m so resentful of him I truly don’t give a fuck. Then he comes home and wants me to be affectionate with him? I’ve refused to sleep with him. Not even in a withholding way, I’m just so drained at the end of the day and the fact that he does next to nothing is a massive turn off. And when he DOES clean it’s horrid. He constantly cuts corners. He swept the bathroom the other day, couldn’t find the dustpan, so he just swept the pile under the fucking sink??? Are you kidding me??? I’m so sorry, I really just needed to come on here and vent. My best friend has 4 kids and I don’t want to burden her with my issues and of course I don’t want to tell my parents and drag them into it either so I don’t have anyone to talk too. I have a therapist but money is tight right now until I return back to work. Im just so fucking tired of him.

11 week old constipated due to formula change

My baby was on Similac 360 sensitive since birth. She hadn’t had any stomach issues so we wanted to try to switch formula to save some money if possible. We switched to the generic (Up & Up) version of the formula she was previously on thinking it would be an easier transition. She has been on it for about 3 days but had some constipation yesterday. She pooped 3 times, the first two being a clay like consistency and she was clearly struggling to push and got a little fussy after pushing a bit. She has not vomited and her stomach is not bloated or hard. Do we keep trying this formula for a few more days to see if her stomach adjusts? Also, is there anything I can do to ease her discomfort?

Has anyone dealt with reoccurring thrush?

I have a 2 month old. We’re on round 3 of thrush. We did nystatin, diflucan, and now nystatin again which seems to be doing nothing. I’ve sterilized EVERYTHING. Even prior to the first breakout we sterilized bottles after every use. Truly diflucan was the only thing that got rid of it but our ped said it’s not good to have babies on it much. Is there something I may be missing that could be causing it? Our ped told me not to clean her tongue after bottles. I’m just getting frustrated and it’s making my baby’s eating times rough on her and me.

Accidentally choked my baby, I’m feeling like the worst mother ever.

I tried to give myself a few days, but I’m still ruminating on this constantly.

My 7 week old has thrush. We were seen by her Pediatrician and started treating her with Nystatin. I would give her a tiny bit from the syringe on one side of her mouth, rub it in, give her a little bit to swallow or recoup because she hated the taste and would gag constantly, then the same on the other side and repeat with the full dose the doctor prescribed.

I was doing this the other day and the syringe slipped and shot the medicine in her mouth and down her throat. She reacted startled, gagged, coughed, then stopped breathing and was gasping for air for a few seconds and was struggling. I shot her forward and started patting her back until she calmed and started breathing again. Then I laid her on my chest a couple minutes later and she vomited all over me. Not spit up, full on vomit.

I feel horrible. That was the last dose of her medicine and it ended up not even working fully anyways. We saw the doctor and now she’s prescribed a medicine I can just mix in with her bottle. But it was so scary. No any little cough or tiny little squeaky gasp keeps me on edge and I’m having a horrible time trying to get any sleep. I hate that I hurt my baby especially when she was already having a hard time taking the medicine in the first place. Now I’m holding her almost constantly because I’m so scared and everyone is giving me grief for it because I’m not able to get anything done, shower, and hardly eat.

Single moms or moms with partners that travel for work, how are you getting by?

My husband travels for work practically every week. I’m running on empty. I have no time to eat, much less take a shower. My baby will only give me five to ten minutes in the bassinet which is just enough time to clean her bottles and throw her clothes in the wash. I also have 2 dogs so taking them out on top of everything is so hard. I have to leave the house occasionally the next few weeks and I have no idea how I’m going to do it and maintain my sanity. I get so jealous of my husband and when he gets home, I want a break but he doesn’t understand how to handle my daughter like I do, so it always comes back to me anyways. And the thought of going back to work in a few weeks is filling me with dread just due to the fact that it will be so incredibly stressful every single day and I have to do it all alone.

What have you done to get yourself and a newborn baby out of the house safely?

My husband goes back to work in a week and I’m wanting to make sure for my own mental health I’m able to get out of the house with my baby. I live in Texas so heat is a big factor here. Even the mornings and evenings can be just way too hot. Our local library does have a story time once a week for newborns-18 months. I think that would be great but my concern is obviously if it’s safe enough since she will only be about 3-4 weeks.

What did you do for labor prep that you feel really made a difference?

I will be getting induced next Thursday, starting cytotec Wednesday evening and doing that overnight at the hospital. Im a FTM so im super nervous and this is all new to me. I have been walking as much as I can physically stand, and just started drinking raspberry leaf tea. I wasn’t dilated at all at my last appointment at 37 weeks and 2 days, but my cervix was low and softened. I’d ideally like to go into labor naturally, or at least make a little more progress as far as dilation and maybe making labor a little easier!

Currently 34+3 and oh my god it feels like someone falcon punched me in the vag for an hour. It’s worse when I’m sitting or standing, but laying down doesn’t give me much relief. Is this a normal thing? My OB doesn’t seem too concerned about it but it’s making just getting up and walking to the bathroom an entire painful feat. I haven’t heard of this pregnancy symptom so I’m honestly not even sure if it’s a normal thing since baby is obviously getting bigger and starting to get lower. She is head down but has been practically my entire pregnancy. But it literally feels like I’m being torn apart!
