Solving the cold start problem for my deal platform: Partnering with micro-brands to cross-promote?

Hey everyone,

I’ve built a community-driven deal platform similar to HotUKDeals

Right now, I'm stuck in the classic chicken-and-egg problem:

  • Low daily traffic (5-10 visits/day) means barely any deal conversions.
  • No conversions means no affiliate revenue to reinvest in ads or visibility.
  • Inactivity leads early enthusiastic users to lose interest and bounce.

Competing head-on with established giants by just posting the usual "big brand discounts" feels like a losing game because they already have the network effect.

The New Angle I'm Testing:

Instead of just curating top deals from giant retailers, I’m planning to reserve one "Spotlight Deal" per day specifically for small, emerging online shops, makers, and micro-brands (e.g., indie board game creators, sustainable gadgets, specialty coffee, local brands).

The Win-Win Setup:

  1. For the micro-brands: They get a dedicated spotlight (clearly marked as a partner deal to maintain 100% transparency) and exposure to new early adopters, provided they offer a truly great intro discount.
  2. For the platform: In exchange for the feature, the brand shares the deal link with their own Instagram/social audience ("Check out our exclusive launch deal on Huchadeals!").
  3. For the buyers: They get access to everyday top deals plus a unique opportunity to discover cool brands they wouldn't find on traditional deal sites.

The goal is to leverage their existing small followings to piggyback traffic into my ecosystem, while capturing those visitors through a newsletter/alert channel so they keep coming back.

My Questions for You:

  • Has anyone used a similar cross-promotional "spotlight" mechanic to kickstart a two-sided platform or directory?
  • What would be the best way to approach these micro-brands via Instagram/DM without coming across as cold spam?
  • Any obvious pitfalls with this hybrid approach (curated top deals + 1 daily partner spotlight) that I might be blind to?

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

Interactieve kaart wooningprijzen + leefomgeving

Help! Alvast bedankt!

Stuck restriction loop "Not eligible to edit links" — Help!

Hi everyone,
I’m running into a nightmare scenario with my Instagram page and I desperately need some advice if anyone has beaten this.

My page is a legitimate deal-sharing community (similar to Pepper), where I share discounts. A few days ago, I suddenly got a 30-day link restriction because Meta's automated system flagged something as "deceptive content".

Here is the problem: The restriction date keeps extending.
First it was July 2nd, then July 7th, and now it moved to July 11th. I haven't posted any new links since the first warning, but the AI bot seems to keep scanning my account and rolling over the penalty.

What I have already done to fix it:
I archived my 3 pinned posts (they talked about "welcome bonuses" and "earning money", which I assume triggered the AI scam filters).

I went through my Highlights and completely deleted any stories that contained old link stickers or URL text.

I do not use any automation tools or bots (everything is done 100% manually).

The catch: I want to remove the main website link from my bio to stop the bot from triggering, but when I go to Edit Profile -> Links, Instagram gives me an error: "Your account isn't eligible to edit links". I am literally locked out of removing the very thing that is probably causing the loop.

Has anyone experienced this specific loop where the date keeps pushing back? How did you break it, especially when Instagram blocks you from editing your bio link?
Any advice would be massively appreciated. Thank you!

New vs reburbished pc

Hi all,

Our PC is dying and we are looking for a replacement. Therefore I would like some advice on both the PC itself and rather to buy brand new or refurbished.

The PC will mainly be used to do basic stuff like Excel, web browsing and watching YouTube videos. Besides that sporadically we would like to edit photos in Photoshop/ LightRoom. We won't play video games nor edit videos. We are not that strict budget wise but under €700 would be very recommendable!

Thanks

Refurbished PC ervaringen?
