dapat during seminar meron din topic about "Purchasing Power" ng Pilipino e.

BPI chief explains cause of service disruption
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VY_gBR-u15o
BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco mentions tokenization as a key reason for the recent app update (6:29 - 6:34).
"He explains that the bank was preparing their application for tokenization, which contributed to a heavy load on their back-end systems during the recent service disruption. This update, combined with other factors like a network issue and high traffic on payday, led to the intermittent access some customers experienced."
So it is true nga related sa Tokenization ng BPI ang new app update (also backend integration to Apple Pay) last week na nagkaroon ng service disruption but was fixed. (after that two credit cards of BPI was added to Google Pay)

After the downtime, you can now add 2 Credit Cards of BPI (Omni Card and Free+ Card).
Do you think may kinalaman ang system downtime sa integration ng xPay sa BPI? (Apple Pay ready na din siya) from the recent app update sa IOS.

Note: The information below is based on publicly available sources.
(Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Apple Pay)
Answer:
Based on publicly available information, BDO is expected to support Apple Pay, as well as other xPay services such as Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
Answer:
Yes. BDO has been upgrading its payment terminals to support Tap to Pay (contactless payments). However, some terminals may not have been updated yet.
There have also been reports/videos from customers successfully using contactless payments on older BDO terminals. One challenge is that many employees in SM stores may not yet be fully trained on these payment methods. That said, some SM Supermarkets and other SM retail locations are already accepting contactless wallet payments.
Answer:
In many cases, merchants' POS and cashier systems are capable of processing contactless transactions. However, some cashiers may not be familiar with the process or may not have received sufficient training.
Since xPay transactions are processed similarly to standard contactless card payments and are generally covered under existing BSP regulations for card-based contactless payments, merchants typically do not require a separate circular or memo to accept them. The primary barrier is often awareness, training, and operational readiness rather than technical limitations.
Tokenization in the Philippines: Consumer-Ready Infrastructure
"Industry reports suggest that card tokenization is becoming a major focus for Philippine banks as digital wallet adoption grows and payment networks continue expanding tokenized payment infrastructure."
at the end of the day we have just to wait like Garmin Pay suddenly getting released in the country.
Has anyone updated their BPI app and noticed it now says it supports Apple Wallet?
*Recent update of BPI App now indicating that it will support Apple Wallet soon.
I believe one of the major factor ng "slow adoption ng Google Pay" is most merchants still not aware of NFC payments or hindi pa trained.
(i think Mastercard and Visa Philippines should put awareness sa mga merchants na may logo ng GPay or other upcoming xPays soon.)
katulad sa Puregold recently lang inactivate ang NFC ng BDO Terminals nila which is working na.

"Other major financial institutions and payment gateways, including Bank of the Philippine Islands, Beep, 2C2P, PayMongo, and PayRex, are expected to activate the service in the near term."
"The measured pace of the Android-based roll-out appears to be affecting competing platforms as well. The local launch of Apple Pay has been deferred to the third quarter of this year, according to Lito Villanueva, founding chairman of Fintech Alliance PH."

Visa and Garmin have officially launched Garmin Pay in the Philippines. This gives smartwatch users a secure and convenient way to make contactless payments. The feature lets you pay using your Visa card linked to a compatible Garmin smartwatch.

Both Metrobank and PS Bank will be integrated to Digital Wallets like Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay (H2/Q2-Q3).
Also an Update:
I have tried Google recently on an old blue BDO Terminal and it works now (Watson and Puregold).
I have both S22 Ultra and S23 FE matagal na ito sakin tong 2 phones na to but yet hindi ko pa na eexperience magkaroon ng green lines and pink lines? also ilang beses na din siyang nabagsak at naipit. no problem at all.
More on overheating ba ang cause nito? hindi ko naman pinanglalaro or overuse ang mga phone na ito. baka one day biglang mag pop up nalang out of knowhere or baka nagiging Visual Bias lang dahil na hihighlight dahil branded phone kapag may nag popost?
May nabalitaan lang ako meron separate announcement regarding sa RTO this June under sa email ni "Hello A[classified](e).
iba pa daw yung ibabalik sa 2x RTO this next few months?
Hahahahaha akala ko matapang si Bato Dela Rosa pero atakbo naman pala, sa sobrang kaba e nadapa pa! Hahahaha
Nanjan si Mister Trillanes, he will make your day! Hahaha!
Puregold is now accepting Tap to Pay (xPay) and has updated BDO Terminal Firmware.
How long does a regional launch for Samsung Pay usually take?
I was able to test using my Australian Samsung S22 Ultra, and through that, I managed to add my Philippine bank card to Samsung Pay. I also received the Terms of Service/Terms and Conditions prompt, which indicates that our cards may already be integrated for tokenization.
However, since Samsung Pay is not yet officially available in the Philippines, the process still ends in a connection error when trying to complete the setup. It’s likely that only selected BINs are currently activated—possibly for internal testing by bank or issuer employees.
