OA lang ba ako to feel disrespected by my students for this...

I (27M) am currently working part time as a trainer. From time to time, I handle students from different companies to teach them something. I'm not gonna disclose the lessons to avoid doxxing myself.

At the beginning of the lessons, I always introduce myself. Along with that, I briefly talk about my family and how my boyfriend got me into the IT industry. I really don't go beyond one sentence when talking about my bf. Just enough as my own way to normalize same-sex relationships.

Problem:

This just happened today. I have this one online class from students in a far flung area of Cebu province. After introducing myself, I asked everyone to introduce themselves one by one to serve as their attendance. However, three or more boys started sounding off. They were acting/sounding gay or pretending to be one. They even deliberately change their names to a more feminine one but then revert back to a different nickname while giggling slightly when I ask clarification.

I felt disrespected. As someone who's actually gay, I can tell if someone is actually gay or pretending. I can tell if someone is mocking trans names from those who don't.

I don't understand how anyone can treat a person like that --- a teacher even! They didn't even act like that at first when they didn't know yet that I was gay. Take note that they're all working professionals already. Take note that this was our first meeting and I have done nothing but treat them kindly. I even asked them to introduce themselves with their preferred nicknames because I understand that some people dislike the names their parents gave them.

Nothing wrong with sounding gay but there was a hint of ill-intention from their tone. I mean, I don't go around sounding like a woman when my teacher is female??? They clearly intend to mock me in front of their workmates. If this keeps up, I'll be upfront with them.

Edit: Since people are focusing on a different problem. Let me add more context.

  1. I just realized now that I did not even talk about my family in my introduction, so no, I really did not add much unrelated content in my lesson nor introduction.
  2. Like I said, I did not dwell on my bf. It's just something I intentionally add to hit two birds with one stone: (1) normalize same-sex relationships in a country that isn't fully accepting yet and; more importantly (2), establish why I'm teaching an IT-related lesson when I had an entirely different and unrelated bachelor's degree. I just had to make my qualifications clear. It just so happened that my bf helped me get a footing in the industry he's in.
  3. That's not even the point of this post. A straight male/female teacher can talk about their spouses and won't get the treatment I got. What I did was literally no different from a "Hey, everyone! I'm Sam. I'm your teacher. I have a wife who, like you, works as a .... We have two kids and two pets." introduction. If you see anything wrong about that, you may want to check if you also have internalized homophobia.

Lin Manuel ruined the magic of Disney songs

Alan Menken's era of Disney music is just incomporable. No wonder Tangled has the last memorable Disney Princess songs ever. Lin Manuel's songs are catchy but they're all just different versions of Hamilton.

Help us decide our travel destination: Thailand or Vietnam

My bf (28M) and I (27M) cannot decide which of these countries to go to. We know Thailand is the preferable choice for same sex couples like us but we'd be glad if you guys could list reasons why we should go to your chosen location.

We're not very particular with the cuisine, culture, architecture, etc. We just want to hear your opinions. This is gonna be my first international travel so I want the first choice to be worth it. My bf, however, has been to Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Malaysia already.

We plan to travel in January. It's probably gonna be a 5D4N trip.

Bf is on Grindr and he blamed Madonna

If you've been living under a rock, Madonna is collaborating with Grindr for her new album rollout.

I normally don't check his phone but my instincts lately told me to do so. Lo and behold, Grindr was put on a hidden folder which he probably thought I wouldn't check. I didn't dare to check the messages because I didn't wanna get hurt more.

When I confronted him, he said it's for Madonna. Do I take that as a legit response? He is, after all, a Madonna fan.

For the Madonna stans here, do you get anything from the app? Like pre-sale or something? Did he have to install the app?

Anyone else sees the Kakai and Jusa similarities?

The mole placement near the eye. The laughter. The pitch.

That's all. Bye. Both pretty women.

An advice for people with really dry skin and lips

Skin Type: Dry

Age/Gender: 26M

Current skincare routine:

These are just things I got from my derma that are effective. I can't show pictures as proof since I'm still insecure and I probably can't recommend specific products for everything but here it goes:

  1. Use Dove sensitive bar or liquid soap. It's gentle and moisturizing talaga.

  2. Use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer for the face pero pwede naman hindi if budget is tight.

  3. NEVER rub your skin. I know may chances to have parang scales or flakey siya especially pag malamig but just DON'T. You don't want bigger problems. Mawawala rin yan if you follow my tips.

  4. MOST IMPORTANTLY, use lotion that has UREA, preferably 10%. This is hard to come by so research products and order online.

  5. As for the lips, baka iron deficient ka like me. This one is sa diet lang talaga. Eat iron-rich food and iwas na sa coffee or milk. huhu

Anong thoughts ninyo sa 4Ps?

Ako kasi, I don't mind having it.

For those who don't know, may recent discourse kasi about this. One side thinks that it's a waste of taxpayer's money. The other side thinks it's for the betterment of the country. I understand both opinions, but I have to agree with the latter.

It's easy to ridicule and judge people with a poor background. It's easy to pass the blame on them. It's easy to think of them as freeloaders.

However, that's not the reality I know of. My mom used to work as a teller (?) for 4Ps. She'd distribute money to remote areas, which can be very dangerous and hard to trek. Their workmate even got ambushed once but it turned out to be a ploy from a corrupt police officer, but that's a story for another day.

My mom and her workmates experienced accidentally handing out extra money, which is terrible because that would mean the money they lost would be deducted from their salary. However, my mom told me stories of how most of these beneficiaries would wait in a long line the next day just to return the extra cash.

Other than that, I'd also hear stories of these locals showing Bayanihan by bringing snacks to the tellers, and I'm pretty sure that didn't come cheap.

These people are poor due to our system. Who knows, 4Ps could be their way out of poverty? Honestly, you'd hear more politicians wasting our taxes than these beneficiaries.

Fun fact, the recent LET passer, who, by the way, just got the highest rating in LET history, was a 4Ps beneficiary.

So what are your thoughts?

I luv Jusa but natrigger pet peeve ko kanina

Sobrang babaw neto but ayoko pag mali lyrics ng kanta. So sa recent episode biglang napasabi si Jusa na "Hands Up, Gabriela", referring to Katseye's song.

Alam kong pataas kamay nila sa choreo but "Hands off" kasi dapat. Hindi kasi hinoholdap si Gabriela but binibigyan ng warning or binabantaan na lumayo sa lalaki ala Jolene by Dolly Parton.

Yun lang, no hate kay Jusa naman. Alam kong marami rin sa inyo akala "Hands Up, Gabriela" ang lyric so para na rin to sa inyo. Huhu

Edit: "mababaw nga" "OA"

Pet peeve nga diba? Di ba kayo nag grade 2? Hahaha
