I think watch time is one of those metrics that sounds impressive until you look at *how* that time was generated.

A channel can rack up hours of watch time, but if those hours aren't coming from people who actually care about the videos, what does the number really tell you?

That's what makes YouTube watch time bots interesting to discuss. The number might go up, but it doesn't necessarily mean you've built an audience that watches your next video, comments, subscribes, or comes back.

For creators, the more useful question might be whether the watch time represents real viewer interest, rather than just more hours on the dashboard.

Do you think watch time is still a useful metric by itself, or should creators focus more on retention and returning viewers?

This is one of the things that makes me question a viewer count.

You open a stream and it says 2k viewers, but the chat is moving like there are 20 people there. No real conversation, barely any reactions, and the number just sits there.

Obviously, that doesn't automatically mean it's a Kick view bot. Some streams genuinely have quiet audiences, especially if people are just watching in the background.

But when the viewer count, chat activity, follows, and everything else seem completely out of sync, it definitely makes you wonder.

What’s the first thing you look at when a stream’s viewer numbers seem weird?

One thing that surprised me this week wasn't how much AI can code.

It's how much some people are actually using it.

Reports around OpenAI's internal coding usage say some researchers are spending thousands of dollars a day in AI tokens while using coding agents for experiments, debugging and larger engineering tasks.

It makes sense if the model is doing hours of work that would otherwise take a developer much longer.

But it also makes me wonder whether we're going to start seeing a weird new problem where developers aren't limited by how fast they can code — they're limited by how much AI usage they can afford.

Would you pay $1,000+ a month for an AI coding setup if it genuinely made you 2–3x faster?

Everyone talks about which model is smarter.

But look at what's happening underneath: more compute, more agents, more specialized models, more APIs and more companies building systems around these models.

Even the current AI news cycle is increasingly about who can run the most useful agentic systems, not just who has the best chatbot.

The model is becoming one component.

The actual product is everything built around it.

Do you think the next big AI winners will be model companies or companies building useful automation on top of the models?

I used to see a big follower count and immediately assume an account was doing well. Now I usually click through a few recent videos first.

I've seen accounts with a huge following where hardly anyone talks and smaller accounts where the comments are full of people who clearly come back regularly. That makes the whole Bot TikTok followers topic feel a lot less straightforward than it used to.

If you were growing a page today would you care more about increasing followers or building a smaller audience that actually returns?

I've seen people call out viewbotting just because a stream suddenly jumped in viewers but that seems way too simple to me. A streamer can genuinely go viral and get a big spike out of nowhere.

I'd be much more interested in the rest of the numbers. Chat activity retention returning viewers and whether everything else moved at the same time.

That's probably the part of Kick view bot discussions I find most interesting. Not how to do it but how people actually recognize unusual activity.

Sometimes you see a post with a strange combination of numbers.

Lots of likes but almost no comments. Lots of views but barely any shares. Or one metric suddenly jumps while everything else stays flat.

None of those things automatically mean bots are involved but it's interesting how quickly people notice when the numbers don't match.

A stream might have a good viewer count and still have almost no interaction.

No chat

Very few returning names

Low activity

None of that proves anything by itself but it does make me think the viewer number shouldn't be treated as the whole story.

Almost followed a TikTok account yesterday purely because the follower count looked massive at a glance. Then I actually watched a couple of their videos and the engagement wasn't close to matching the number. Made me realize how much I used to judge creators purely off that one stat without checking anything else. Does a big follower count still influence whether you hit follow, or do you check engagement first now?

Rockstar apparently asked itself a pretty simple question here what happens when you just let the developers make the game instead of building around AI generated content and extra purchases?

According to reports from Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson, GTA 6 will launch without microtransactions and Rockstar says generative AI wasn't used to create the game. Rockstar also highlighted the amount of human-made animation and craftsmanship going into it.

That honestly stands out in 2026 when AI is being added to almost everything.

I'm curious about the AI part more than the monetization though.

Do you think big games should keep AI completely out of the creative process or is there a place for it behind the scenes?

Sometimes you don't need to see the account itself.

You look at the graph and something just feels off. A huge spike at a strange time, thousands of views without much watch time or a follower increase that doesn't match anything else happening on the account None of those prove anything by themselves but the patterns can be interesting.

What analytics do you normally check when you think an account might be getting artificial traffic?

I noticed something different while browsing Kick recently. I wasn't actually looking for a specific streamer and still ended up finding a few smaller channels that I would've probably never seen on Twitch.

The smaller communities also feel a bit more noticeable because you can actually recognize the regulars and follow what's happening in chat.

I'm curious whether that's just my experience or if Kick is genuinely better at helping smaller streamers get discovered.

For anyone who streams there regularly, are new viewers actually finding you or are most of your viewers still coming from somewhere else?

This isn't even about AI.

Sometimes I just want a device or app that does the one thing I bought it for without asking me to create another account or subscribe to another service.

Everything seems smarter now but also somehow more complicated.
