Surfshark cutting my speed by 70%!

I signed up for Surfshark, fully expecting there to be a bit of reduction in speed when the VPN is on. I didn't expect this much of a reduction. This is ridiculous.

I usually average around 100 mps download when VPN is on, and this is on any server that I try. I'm lucky if I can ever even get up to 130 mps download like in the image. My internet speed is 300 mps download.

-tried connecting to various servers, countries, including of course the closest server to me.

-wireguard is enabled

-ONN 4k Pro, Google TV

What is the solution to this?

Surfshark VPN is cutting my speed by more than 50%

I Signed up for Surfshark a few weeks ago.

First image is speet test results with Surfshark VPN disabled.

Second image is speed test results with Surfshark VPN enabled.

-wireguard protocol selected

-have tried many other server locations with similar speed results.

-ONN 4k Pro, Google TV.

I knew going into it that a VPN would decrease my speed a bit, but this is ridiculous. Not cool. Any thoughts?

I think a lot of people think that if you upgrade to one of the new 30,000 nit (exaggerating) tv's that all that brightness is going to obviously brighten up the overall picture of an HDR movie, as most know that movies in HDR can be 'dim'.

Well, I've got bad news for you. Your new 30,000 nit peak brightness tv isn't going to brighten/lighten up your HDR movies. HDR makes brighter highlights; for example, if a flashlight is turned on in a scene...the light from the flashlight will be extremely bright. The rest of the picture? It will be just as dark as a tv with 200 nits peak brightness. Get it?

A movie is going to look just as dark on your new 30,000 nit peak brightness tv as it is on my TCL QM6K (which has a low peak HDR brightness). Only the HDR highlights on your TV will be brighter.

These insanely high peak brightness levels on tv's these days are completely unnecessary and useless, and in most cases all that extra brightness will do is wash out the color of the image.

Choose picture quality/contrast/color over high peak brightness.
