Back In Time 2.0.0 - Release Candidate 1
The first release candidate for Back In Time 2.0.0 is out.
It is the largest update in the project's history: major config refactoring, rewritten mount subsystem, Gocryptfs replacing EncFS, and removal of deprecated features.
Please test it and report results, also when you find no regressions.
⚠️ Use a VM or separate "--config" option. This RC might break your current config.
Back In Time is an rsync based backup GUI for r/Linux. It is an open source project, without a vendor or company behind.

Waschbecken - Stöpseldingsbums reparieren?
Das dünne Gestänge, an dem der "graue Ring" hängt, gehört zum "Stöpsel" eines Waschbeckens. Der graue Ring scheint abgebrochen zu sein und lässt sich nicht fixieren.
Hab Null Ahnung von so was. Mal abgesehen von der Frage, ob ich das kann, lässt sich das Teil tauschen, oder muss man das ganze Waschbecken bzw. dessen Abflussrohr & Siphon erneuern?
Ist ne Mietwohnung. Vermute dass solche "Kleinigkeiten" auf meine Mieterkosten gehen würden.

Look for a solution to "Foggy Skies at Centrair!"
I am playing "I am an Air Traffic Controller AIRPORT HERO Centrair 20TH ANNIVERSARY" on r/switch2 . My question is about the level 'STAGE 2 "Foggy Skies at Centrair!"' from the DLC "Centrair Expert Pack".
I need a solution to get "S". ;)

Fahrrad auf "denkmalgeschützten" Gehweg abstellen?
Meines Wissens ist das Abstellen von Fahrrädern auf dem Gehweg, als "Gemeingebrach an öffentlichen Straßen", erlaubt, wenn andere Verkehrsteilnehmer (in diesem Fall Fußgänger) nicht behindert werden und keine Beschilderung etwas anderes sagt. Soweit richtig?
Jetzt wollte mir jemand erzählen, dass Abstellen wäre nicht erlaubt, wenn der Fußweg "denkmalgeschützt" ist. Wusste nicht, dass man so ein Ding überhaupt denkmalschützen kann. Aber selbst wenn, müsste man das doch dann auch ausschildern, weil ich kann ja nicht "riechen", dass ein Fußweg denkmalgeschützt ist.
Keine keine Regelung dazu finden.

Button switches compared between MX Ergo S & ERGO M575S Trackballs?
I am using the Marbel Trackball for years. Once I also replaced the button switches because they break after some years.
Today it is time again. But I don't want to replace the switches. I just want to buy a new one. So I wonder if the two available trackballs "MX Ergo S" and "ERGO M575S" have different switches? And if one of them might live longer?
Any experience on this? Did anyone opened both devices?

Thumb-Trackball: Microswitch quality of Logitec and Elcome compared?
I am using Logitec thumb trackballs for decacdes. Every some years I have to replace the device or repair it because of the brocken microswitches. This is a known problem.
Today I found Elcome. They also have an amount of thumb trackballs. I wonder how their microswitch quality is compared to Logitec?

habe gerade die SchoolCard online bestellt und fand keinen Hinweis darauf, ob das Ticket/Abo als Plastikkarte ausgestellt wird, oder nur über diese "App" nutzbar ist.
Hat das jemand als Karte?

Kobayashi-Maru in der Ausbildung?
Kobayashi-Maru: Ein Simulationstest aus dem fiktiven Star Trek Universium, der immer zum (simulierten) Tod führt und eigentlich die Charakterstärke der Offiziere testen sollen.
Bin nicht vom Fach. Bin gerade auf die Doku-Serie Mittendrin über den Frankfurter Flughaften gestolpert. Als um die Ausbildung der Pilotinnen und Kabinencrew ging, wurde ja immer erzählt, dass diese schlimmen Situationen im Simulator in der Realität "fast nie" passieren.
Wie weit gehen die Simulationen eigentlich wirklich bei der Ausbildung?
Gibt es ein Äquivalent zu einem Kobayashi-Maru? Werden die Anwärterinnen vor praktisch unlösbare Aufgaben gestellt, um Ihre Belastbarkeit auszureizen?

The mount subsystem for Back In Time was re-written from scratch now offering full support for gocryptfs as replacement for EncFS for encrypted backups. The new mount subsystem is ready for broader testing.

Use AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md to prevent "AI slop"?
Did someone tried to add a AGENTS.md and/or CLAUDE.md file to the repo to make "AI" stop. Of courses contributors can delete those files or instruct their "agents" to ignore it. But it might prevent some of the "AI slop".
What is your opinion?
A quick n dirty example:
