We need help finding potential volunteers

So my museum is pretty small, I am the only full time employee and we rely on our advisory board to volunteer to lead tours, stamp hands at events and pass out flyers.

Apparently a decade ago, we had lots of people volunteer but that population has aged out. I set up a page on idealist and that has gotten scattered interest but I need more people so we don't have to ask the same people all the time.

All the board members have exhausted their social networks. We have approached senior centers and have flyers there but it hasn't yielded any interest.

I'm open to ideas and non monetary enticements.

Thanks!

Need help identifying this piece

We lost the acquisition paperwork for this piece. I'd just like to know what it was used for and roughly the year it would have been made. This is in a museum collection so no value is necessary. If it helps, most of our donations come from around the Denver Metro area in Colorado.

I looked for a serial number or some kind of makers mark but didn't see anything. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Museum Fundraiser Sept 26th Beer, blacksmithing and baby goats. Free admission

Hello,

I am the curator at the Adams County Historical Society Museum at 9601 Henderson Road 80601

September 26th (Saturday) from 11-4 we are having our annual Heritage Days event and fundraiser. It is free for all ages to attend. There will be a live blacksmithing demonstration, baby goats, food trucks and beer for sale! There will be a classic car show, historical reenactments and more to come.

The Adams County Historical Society museum has an impressive collection of fossils, mineral specimens and cultural artifacts that span the entire history of Adams County. Over the years, interest in the museum has waned and I am doing my best to give it a facelift and get the community engaged again. We are a smaller institution with very limited income sources so boosting our attendance numbers are crucial. I'm passionate about getting a new generation of locals invested in the community again and I really want this to be successful.

If you can't attend, maybe you could share with friends, family or neighbors. There is more information on our website www.adamscountymuseum.com/beer or maybe you could check out our instagram @ adamscountymuseum

thanks so much!

I dont have the serial number or year

This is in my museum. I've been told it still works but id like more information about its operation. I am not an expert in this part of the field but I am assuming online somewhere there is a digitized copy of the manual but just searching for Wurlitzer manual brings up way too many results to make sense of. Also does anyone know if the music selection can be updated? I dont know how obsolete this technology is. Any tidbits would be appreciated

Can someone give me some context on this uniform?

It is in our museum collection but the documentation is gone. Id like to know which war this might have been worn for, what branch of the military or even what the ribbon over the pocket was for. Anything of note or interest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Doing an Oktoberfest fundraiser

I work in a small local history museum. This fall, we will be running an oktoberfest fundraiser. I have a lot of contacts at local breweries that I am sure will participate as well as a couple of food truck people. Obviously we will ask the vendors to help promote the event but I'm not sure how else to go about attracting as many people as possible. We have no advertising budget, I am the only non volunteer employee of the museum so we don't have a ton of cash.

I have just created our social media accounts (like literally a week ago), I am doing everything I can to try and get those up and running but IDK that we have the follower base to attract that many people. In my experience, local businesses are not jazzed about letting me put up flyers because they don't want to share their Saturday business. I will be putting flyers up in municipal places like the rec center, libraries, county parks boards etc.

We do have community circular type things but they have refused to promote museum fundraisers in the past (I don't know why, I have only been working here for about a month.) We do live in a large metro area so it can be difficult to get the news to engage with us.

We will promote the event to our membership list but it is mostly elderly, ancient people. The museum has been around for a while but our visitor base is dying out rather than growing.

Are there other resources out there I am overlooking? What else can I do to promote this event?
