Paying DVC Direct with CC

I've been looking into which CC to pay my contracts (cash, not loans) to maximize my points. There are a lot of old posts on using the Chase Sapphire Reserve, but as of summer 2026 things are different.

When I paid my downpayment through CapitalOne it was marked as Lodging via Disney Resort Hotels. At the time, I needed to pay the downpayment and knew I'd be getting 2x for that at least.

Now that I have had time to figure out how to best maximize my CC points I looked into all my cards. The CSR card requires direct bookings to be classified as Flight or Hotel to be eligible for 4x points. I called Chase to see if Lodging would count as direct hotel purchase, but they weren't too sure and said it had to be classified as a hotel purchase.

I ran a test charge on my CSR card over the phone with Disney Quality Assurance, since as of the 2026 Chase Sapphire Reserve changes they no longer pay out Travel bonus points. My test DVC payment shows up as "DVC Escrow Payment" - classified as Travel which only yields 1x points per dollar. Sadly, DVC doesn't meet that 4x criteria on my test payment.

Looks like I'll be spreading my charges between the BILT card (boost my mortgage/rent points multiplier) and CapitalOne cards to get 2x points per dollar spent with my DVC contract.

EDIT: Seems like Travel category still gets 4x with CSR, so I'm going to wait to see this charge clear and confirm whether it's 4x or 1x points

Another Use Year Q. Did so the research and still confused. February, April, Summer, December travel.

So, I did so much reading before jumping in, and now I'm stuck on UY.

I have a choice of February, March, or October UY. We can actually request what's best for us.

We usually travel February, April, summer, and December. Most travel is during summer and December, though.

For now the contract is set for February, and we chose that cause if any dates to likely get cancelled they would be due to storms in New England cancelling flights. Thus, picking the February UY. That would give us ample time to rebook to summer through December and not lose the points. Or, we can bank by September.

Is that correct?

Polynesian direct for 150 points at $214 pp, 200 points at $210 pp, or $250 points at 205 pp after incentives and before closing costs. Do it?

So, there are incentives to buy Poly on the cruise right now, and the cost after incentives and New Beginnings comes out to $205 per point before closing costs for 250 points.

We've been considering this for about 7 years and finally have the money to pay cash and commit. Just need that push to say it makes sense at this pricing.

Should we just put that money into an investment account and withdraw upon our travels? So so so so torn.

Out of network insurance question.

Waiting for my grace period to complete before I'm officially OON for delta (they require a 6 month grace period once you notify them). Once I'm officially OON, what happens to my claims processed before the office OON date? Do those claims still get paid to me since we filed them for assignment of benefits?

How have your patients responded now that they need to wait for Delta to reimburse them directly, therefore having a larger up front out of pocket expense with your office?

Why yacht rock? Could've been Punk Rock or Alt Rock.

This has been bugging me since release, cause she's admitted to not knowing what yacht rock was until her interviews, but she clearly has Punk and Alt Rock tastes. The lyrics still would've flowed, and there wouldn't be this odd choice of lyric that she didn't even understand.

IDK. Maybe it's what's wrong with me.

My wife is taking my R2 when it's ready, so now I'm looking at the R1S. Advice?

For years my wife scoffed at Rivians.

"They're too boxy."

"Those lights look funny."

"Is Rivian even going to survive?"

Well guess who wants a Rivian now! I reserved the R2 for myself, but after the test drive my wife has been asking to take the R2. So, now I'm looking at a replacement for my Polestar when the lease is up that has 3 rows. I'm 100% EV and considering the R1S. Contender is a 2026 EX90.

  1. How bad is the audio and how good will upgrading it make it sound? If I'm going to put in an amp and upgrade the sub should I skip the Premium Audio?
  2. Any quirks I should know about?
  3. Any recommendations? Looking at a Dual Large, but might consider a great condition used if one pops up.

What do you think the tour setlist will be?

Concerts are usually about 1 hour or so, will she play only new songs? Does she take the fan favorites and mix them into the best ones of this album?

My hope is she includes at least the following songs from previous albums.

Deja Vu

Drivers License

Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl

Brutal

All American Bitch

Pretty Isn't Pretty

Side note: I believe the STOP in My Way is going to be the done the same way she did with Bad Idea Right, and I'm totally for hearing the crowd yell out "YOU'RE BEING FUCKING WEIRD" while she's smiling ear to ear listening to that beautiful chant.

Robert Smith interviewed by BBC regarding performing live with Olivia

So nice hearing the reverence going both ways between Olivia and Robert. It's fitting how there's so much influence The Cure can be heard throughout the album.

In depth R2 Audio test with EQ settings - compared to Polestar Bowers and Wilkins

Test drove the R2 today (Half-moon Gray - nice color, but I'll probably get something else) and really wanted to check out the audio compared to my Polestar 3 B&W system. My hearing isn't perfect, as I lost some sensitivity to a small band of frequency similar to the ones used in refrigerator door-open alerts. My wife was with me, so having her feedback helped a lot as well. We logged into my Spotify account to play some songs.

On our drive we played Today's Top Hits, to get a good first comparison to the music we listened to in my Polestar on the way to the service center. Without messing with the EQ my wife immediately said it sounded good. I personally thought it was better than her Model X already. Still a little muddy. Then, I went in and tweaked the EQ to our liking. Like I said I'm higher pitch deaf, so my high frequency right sliders are probably higher than what you guys would use. However, the previous driver set them even higher than what we use, and they had the bass way up. Why does everyone immediately blast those two settings so high?

The bass is too loud by default in most cars already, IMO. So, I turned that down a touch from factory. Mids sounded fine at zero. When I did this tweak I felt it was a thoroughly acceptable (if not enjoyable) setup. I think the weakest part of the audio is the speaker placement in the A-pillars. They should've put them higher to allow higher frequencies to spread further and fill the car better. The bass at higher settings appeared to muddy the mid range, so that's why I dropped the bass a touch.

I then went to some old school to alt rock stuff, and it sounded great. I like to check out Radiohead Fake Plastic Trees and High and Dry, some Nirvana, and then move to Mariah and nostalgic Millennial pop. It all sounded really good, even great.

I wonder what the ratings are on the factory door speakers, cause that might be holding back the audio. Maybe upgrading would improve it. Even if you put in coaxials (I'm not going to mod for components) in the lower doors to make up for the A-pillar speaker placement. IDK. At least Rivian tried to tune the audio system in the R2, cause with the EQ settings I put in this photo it sounded better than many other car manufacturers. Very few will ever come close to the polestar B&W system, but I'm not unrealistic with my car audio. The R2 is plenty fine for the majority of us.

Found a clean sounding recording of the Primavera Sound

The first video uploaded that night had some clipping and distortion. This one seems to be much better.

Musical influences in her songwriting

A lot of her songs bring me back to the 90s and early 2000s alt rock and punk songs

Good 4 U : Paramore obv

Pretty Isn't Pretty gives me Veruca Salt vibes

Get Him Back had touches of Beck

Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl is Weezer'esque to me.

The drums in a few songs have a Nirvana era Dave Grohl sound

Now, The Cure sounds like it could've been written while listening to the acoustic version of Smashing Pumpkins Tonight, Tonight. Although, I wish this was a harder rock song and less acoustic.

I love it all.

What do you guys hear when you listen to her songs?

Am I wrong for thinking it would be awesome if Olivia rocked out to her own guitar solo during concerts?

I know she's very talented and can play multiple instruments. And this is no knock against Emily or Daisy. I just think it'd be amazing to see her with her own hardcore guitar solo, even if she's dueling with either Emily or Daisy.

7156 dishwasher circulating pump failed THREE times!

We have two of these machines in our house. Unit 1 circulating pump failed 5 months ago and was replaced by the dealer tech under warranty. Unit 2 circulating pump failed 3 months ago, and the replacement pump literally arrive yesterday.

Unit 1 circulating pump failed again just now! What is going on? We don't rinse the dishes at all now and just remove the solids off our dishes, we use only dishwashing tablets in the dispenser, and the filters are cleaned regularly. Before we'd run them under water quickly to help with the solids, but now we basically scrape off what we can and let the fats sit as recommeded by another user in the old thread)

Can someone tell me if Miele appliances have gotten worse over time? I'm being told this might not be covered under warranty, but the tech is coming out to look at the unit next week.

I posted this back in February of this year when the second one died. https://www.reddit.com/r/Miele/comments/1raqj3g/7156_dishwasher_circulating_pump_failed_two_times/

Vancouver - Regency vs Alberni

Paying cash for this stay first week of June 2027, and the price per night is roughtly within $25 of each other. What are your thoughts on each hotel? I'll be walking to the Convention Center 3 days of my stay.

Forgot to mention I'll be globalist at that time, if that makes a difference.
