North Nashville Traditions

It’s that time of year, I sit on my front porch and listen to TSU’s band play at night. It feels like a tradition to me and reminder that fall is coming. It’s one of the things I love about living on the Northside. It brings back childhood memories.

Black Queers/Family

I kinda think we should go back to this 😩. I love the word family to describe us, especially since I’m not close to mine 🥰
I have no problem with the words gay, lesbian, etc. but be for real, we got the coolest sounding vernacular and I say that as a writer 🤣. Yal think we should bring back the word family to describe gay people in the black community?

Relationship Observations

I’m surrounded by a lot of straight people. I haven’t met anyone in a relationship that I’ve admired in real life. I’ve been around a lot of people in healthy and unhealthy relationships. Sometimes I think I’m meant to be in short term flings for the rest of my life, because monagamous marriage life seems like a drag. I’m actually monagomous. I prefer being with one person but I have a hard time imagining marriage life with one person being possible. Dating is already hard. I want a stable life and family but sometimes I question if that’s what I want bc I see people I know in them and I’m like that looks like it sucks. I’m working through childhood wounds my parents are hetero and been married for almost 40 years and they lived a very stable but boring conservative life. Does anyone else feel this way? Like I want to get married but it seems like once you’re married life is so boring.

WNBA

I had a great experience at women’s professional basketball games so I’m always gonna brag about how fun the games are and they dropping off Sephora bags from the ceiling. 😍
I’m also watching a game now and thinking how different I think when watching the games: men vs women

Men: “Ugh, they are so aggressive and foul too much.”

Women: “Damn she got hit hard take her out of the game and put some ice on her face now!”

Anywhos. I love the WNBA. Even the off court sheningans are a whole nother form of entertainment . 😳🤣

Nashville Fire Deptartment

I just want to say thank you to the Nashville Fire Department (I believe from Station 11).
I had a little mishap this past weekend and I turned slightly frantic. 😩
The firefighters came a few minutes after I called 911, put out my little fire, aired out my house, and even reset the clock on my kitchen oven back after having to unplug it.They went above and beyond and I’m so grateful. I complain a lot about Nashville but I am truly blessed that I live in a well functioning city that can help with me with support especially during emergencies. If there was any way I could thank them I would love to do so if anyone has any ideas that would be cool. Firefighters are super heroes. 🚒👨‍🚒❤️

New report details flaws in NES response to January winter storm

The report also showed requests for outside help were not made early enough and, overall, NES has struggled to keep up with their growing customer base.

So the rumors of them waiting to call more linemen were true. 😩😫

Kitten Stuck under house

There’s a kitten stuck under my cousins house that won’t come out and it’s been crying non stop for 4 days. Does anyone have any resources on what she can do to help?
