Plate v Ate: If you can dream it, you can puree it

Shoutout to our stick blender!

Listen, a LOT ended up on her, but she was goin crazy for the bean/kale puree! Rounded out the meal with a nice wedge of avocado. Much bigger hit than the eggs we tried this morning!

Favorite children's clothing stores?

Hi! We'll be visiting Berlin this December with our 9 month old. We're going to be on our way back from a wedding in South Africa where it will be summertime, so our thought is we might take the opportunity to purchase some cute winter clothes rather than overpack for two hemispheres.

Would love to hear any boutiques people have to recommend - European brands tend to be really beautiful and fun so would love anything local!

Also, if folks have baby-friendly activities they'd like to share, super open to those as well. So far our main plans are Christmas Markets and some museums :)

Visiting Cape Town with Baby - what to expect for summer weather?

We'll be visiting Cape Town this December for a wedding in the Winelands - I'm super excited! We'll have our 9mo baby with us (and luckily my mother in law as well!!).

Booking accommodations, it seems like AC is not always available. Since we have baby, will it be hot enough to need it? We are currently looking at a place right on Beach Road in Sea Point so I'm hoping the ocean breeze will be enough, but we recently stayed somewhere too hot with no AC and it made sleeping tough for everyone! The summers don't seem to different from what we have here in Seattle, WA but not all 25C days are created equal.

Also - open to any other tips or recommendations for visiting with a baby. She'll be little enough that we can still mostly do what we want to do rather than exclusively kid things.

Sleep training baby who doesn’t really need it yet

Hello! We’ve been so far blessed with a good sleeper. She naps independently usually for 1-2hrs and will sleep from 6:45pm to anywhere between 2 and 4 for one feed, then back asleep til 6-7am. She occasionally sleeps through the night and usually we can just put her down and leave for all sleeps (including naps). She’ll be 5mo tomorrow and I believe already through the 4mo regression because we did have a week or two of sleep weirdness that seems to have mostly resolved.

I hear folks talk about how they’ve had to do a mini sleep training again during later regressions. Does anyone have experience with a baby similar to ours in those cases? Trying to prepare in case we do need to go down that path.

I will say increasingly her MOTN feed seems more like habit/comfort than a true feed. She’s not nursing quite as vigorously. I don’t want to deny her if she’s really hungry but I do want to night wean eventually.

Anyway - thank you for insight. I’m sure we’ll have a sleep demon for #2 so I’ll be back 😅

Recently getting reaction to just some of the adhesive on autosoft infusion sets?

I use the t:slim and have in the last few months been getting a weird reaction from the adhesive on my infusion sets. It doesn’t seem to be all the adhesive, just the middle part (picture attached - hard to describe!).

Has this been happening to anyone else? Any tips?

Also I’ve been diabetic for over 20 years - please disregard the constellations of prior pump site scars on my tum there 😂

When did YOU sleep through the night?

My baby randomly slept through til 7am today. I, however, was still awake at 3am like 👀.

So when did you as a parent finally get 8-9 hours straight?

Why must the feed timer on the tracking app be my enemy

Every day, multiple times a day, I have to remind myself that if the time spent feeding is off by seconds/minutes, it DOES NOT MATTER.

I stress about grabbing my phone before feeding, hitting pause before switching sides. What has possessed me to feel this way? What am I worried about, that I’m gonna get audited??

Tell me I’m not alone 😅

Edit: I definitely meant this to be lighthearted! I promise I am not losing sleep (from this, anyway!). The only reason I use the app is to know when the last feed is otherwise I’d never remember!! It’s just a weird thought that always comes to the front of my mind. As soon as she has a more normal schedule that shit will be deleted expeditiouslyyyyy.

3.5mo calmly hanging in bassinet at bedtime but not sleeping… how long do I let her do so?

She’s just chilling in there LOUDLY sucking on her fingers. We’re not doing sleep training yet, but she’s not crying so I’m inclined to let her chill… she’ll fall asleep eventually but it will take a while (like an hour) so I’m worried she’ll end up overtired. I’ll experiment with extending her wake window pre-bed (but she gets grumpy as all hell which I usually take to mean it’s bedtime), but more wondering what to do when this happens rather than preventing.

Curious how others have dealt with this!

How’s this seat width look?

Little lady is 2mo today and 11.5lbs. I think we’ve entered the stage where she’s certainly big enough for newborn stuff but a little on the cusp for larger styles.

This is an integrababy borrowed from a friend - my understanding is that to narrow the seat you just put a little strap around it (she had misplaced it so I don’t have it unfortunately).

I also felt like she was a liiiittle floppy at the top but I hadn’t tried this style of carrier before so maybe I’m just not used to it! The panel ended at the nape of her neck (it looks higher here) but was kinda loose in general.

Didn’t take good pictures for overall fit, was mostly first curious about seat width. Let me know what yall think!
