Is it me or do my plants look sad?

I have my little patio pond with a solar filter. I treated the water with prime on the first fill and whenever it gets topped off. There’s a bunch of water lettuce and a sad looking hyacinth. I forget the name of the floaters and the other aquatic plant but it’s a CA native. There are four medaka in there too. Lately the plants have been looking sad. Any advice?

cats hunting medaka?

I’ve been wondering why my water seems to evaporate so quickly. I’ve also had 3 medaka disappear. Tonight I saw one of the stray neighborhood cats drinking from my patio pond. Has anyone ever had cats hunt their medaka?? I’m wondering if the cat is the culprit!!

cocktail ring style engagement ring

My mother in law gave me this ring recently and I am thinking about wearing it as an engagement ring instead of my band. I wanted a modest band as an engagement ring at the time and I love my band but it’s fun to have some bling too. Is it weird to wear this style ring as an engagement ring though? I’m an untraditional person anyway but just curious what people think. xo

medaka rice fish vanished

One of my little rice fish has vanished! Haven’t seen it for 3 days. What do you guys think happened? I live in the an urban area in Northern CA so no big birds besides maybe a crow or a towhee.

creamy coconut clean girl

Creamy coconut but make it clean girl. Could maybe have some green notes? I just find that coconut scents are often heavy on the tropical fruity vibes and I want more creamy and sophisticated. But I’m sure you guys can put me on!!! 🤎🤍🤎

feeling left out with my stepsisters

I’m an adult now but wondering if there’s anyone else here who could understand this experience. My dad married my stepmom and she had two daughters. I am an only child and my age falls right in the middle of the two girls. We are a cute trio of blended family sisters and are really close. Our ages were 7, 5, and almost 2 when our families blended. We were raised to call each other “sisters” rather than “stepsisters”. I lean more towards using the “stepsister” term because I am a different race than them so I got tired of the weird looks when I said “sister”. (Small northeastern town in the 90s). Not only is our race different but our socioeconomic backgrounds are completely different. They come from old family money and I do not. That’s all the background. But I came here because sometimes I find them sharing things with eachother and I’m the last to know about it. Or they make plans without inviting me. We have this cute 3 sisters thing but sometimes I get hard reminders that I’m the stepsister. I don’t think they are wrong for this, it’s natural and we have separate bio family dynamics outside of the blended part. But sometimes I feel really hurt and angry. I judge myself for being over sensitive, jealous, insecure but I can’t help it. Can anyone relate to this feeling?

update: got some rice fish!

I added four rice fish to the mini pond and they are so sweet. I hope they are happy there! Honestly, this little pond bring such a calm soothing energy to my home. I could sit and stare at the fish swimming all day lol

Is a solar filter enough?

New to this hobby but finally got my water garden set up and it’s so pretty! My question is about the filter since I’m using a solar one that turns off once the sun moves away. Is this okay or do I need a 24/7 filter? I’m also thinking of getting two small hardy fish.

Thanks for any advice!

Should I cut off the ones that are turning black already or just let them fully die first? Some got damaged when I accidentally pulled the plant out by the roots! But it looks like there are some new ones coming out that are healthy.
