SQE 2 prep: would you rate QLTS over ULaw ?

A all, I am going to prepare for my SQE 2 and thinking of changing my provider from BPP since I wasn't happy with them at all.

I have heard good things about ulaw and qlts and wondered if any of you guys who have used their services for SQE2 had any feedback.

Alternately, has anyone attempted and passed SQE2 without a training provider ?

I would appreciate all the help and advice i can get on this .

Thank you x

Fun activities to do in Leeds

What activities would you suggest doing as a group of 4? I really like escape rooms but have already been to the one in the city centre and near the ice slope place.

Liked lazer tag but I think I enjoyed that with a bigger group.

We go for bowling, arcade games , axe throwing, shuffle board, darts often.

Do not want to go go karting....... it seems very scary!

Is there an activity that I have somehow missed that you would suggest please? Thank you x

Peacelily problems

I repotted my peace lillies around 3 months ago. The little peace lily was split from the mother plant and doesn't seem to be doing well. It has had loads of yellowing leaves and now has a brown spot on one of them and I am worried it may be root rot .

Mother plant seems to be doing okay.

I only water when the top few inches are dry as I have been for the past couple of years. Well draining soil. The plant pot has drainage holes and I only put them into the ceramic cache pots after the water has fully drained.

I am absolutely perturbed as to why its behaving this way.

Just me or does the city centre feels less safe ?

I have noticed there is an increase in the number of homeless people in the city centre. They were fine before but I notice that they have become very aggressive. They fight amongst themselves all the time and perch on doorsteps of residential buildings. Its a pain to get in and out because they aren't kind about being "disturbed" there.

I also notice that they dont take kindly to a no when you dont have cash to spare for them and yell angrily ..... Especially if I am alone or with another girlfriend, less so if I am with another guy.

Its not just with words only. They try and glare to intimidate you and muttered constantly. Its very clear that most of them are under the influence. I have seen them with needs etc and have reported them to the police but they do not seem to do anything about it .

What can we do to make it safer? Carry on reporting to the police or is there an organisation that can help them sober up and stay off the street ?

Edit: so many of you have shared that you have had similar experiences. I am going to write to the police and the council so that they can do something to improve the situation. I hope they make Leeds city safe and help the society flourish

Is the new glass version easier to clean than the dual door ?

I have the one with the two drawers. Absolutely love it, I cook a lot so its nice to have two drawers going at the same time. There is more space too. HOWEVER, It is a pain to clean. The drawers are so damn chunky , its annoying to clean . I have a sink thats on the smaller side and I end up splashing water around and even then , the drawers always seem to feel sticky.

I cant put it in the dishwasher unless I am running a full cycle with just the two drawers.

If anyone has used both, is the newer one a bit easier to clean ? This is the only think motivating me to make the swap so I won't get a new one if it isnt relatively easier to wash and keep clean

Dracaena marginata : repotting rules

Hello all! I am looking for tips and information that would be hand when I repot my dracaena.

It is currently in the same pot and soil when I first bought it. The water always immediately runs through when I water it. I have tried to poke and loosen the soil since I thought it was too compact ( the soil seemed to be coming off the edge of the pot).

Only one tiny root is poking out from the bottom of the pot.

Would I need to repot the plant this season or is it better to repot it next summer if it prefers to be root bound ?

What kind of soil mix should I use ? I was thinking regular soil mix with 30% orchid mix ? Or should I mix it with pearlite ?

Should I increase the pot size to just 2 inches larger than the current one as with a peace lily ?

Thank you in advance!

Is my orchid crown okay ?

I have been bottom watering thanks to all the tips I have received through reddit . I dont know if my orchid is okay. It seems to be recovering well from dehydration but I noticed some discolouration on the crown.

I am hoping it is just regular aging but I would be grateful if someone experienced could confirm or deny this.

Renters : is it just me or is it hard to find flats with walk in showers ?

What is the consensus here ? I know loads of people prefer baths because its relaxing but all I see is something I will need to clean everyday and a trip hazard.

I like walk in showers that I can atleast clean weekly and just squeedgee after my use. Bonus, I dont have the mission impossible theme playing in my mind as I precariously step out or into the shower praying to God that I dont slip.

All estate agents seem to scoff and say people don't really prefer walk in showers and most have tubs ( this is here in Leeds) but generally independent landlords seem to be nicer . One even re did the bathroom and replaced the tub with a walk in shower after I had stayed there for a year at my request. ( granted the bathrooms needed to be done and they were going to redo it like for like but agreed to swap the tub for a shower tray).

I ask because that was a one bed but I am in need of a two bed now and facing snobby EAs.

What is everyone else's take on it ?

Laid back travel suggestions

I keep going back ti Thailand because I love the vibe. Yes Bangkok is nice and I liked certain areas within Bangkok but I would pick smaller islands or cities . The locals were friendly and laid back, amazing food and everything seemed very green and un touched.

We drove a scooter to all our destinations, the beaches were basically empty and free and everyone was really laid back and chilled . There were hardly any shops or malls, just good food and drink and lots of nature. A lot of cafes shut down at like 4 o.m. on random days because they didnt feel like opening it ( LOL but also, goals !)

Went to Vietnam and it was great but I did struggle as a vegetarian. Bar that, I think it was a lovely place. Kind and hospitable people. Great coffees. I did avoid the bigger cities though so cannot speak for the experience in those

Would you recommend any cities that can offer a similar vibe ? I heard north east India is really good for this too ?

I have Japan in mind too, picked out certain cities i want to visit ( I understand being veggie will be a challenge but I am hoping I won't get food poisoning there)

Should I attach my orchid to my dracaena Marginata ?

My orchid is in bloom but keeps toppling over. I wonder if it should somehow attach it to this one ?

I keep getting very contradictory information online and on videos. Some say to attach it using twine and some say to use sphagnum moss. Then I see articles saying how terrible the moss is.

The orchid is currently in a heavy ceramic planter but still seems to topple over .

I dont think i will do so right away since my orchid seems to not be in the best of health atm ( see attached ) and the leaves dont feel as fleshy.

Would attaching it cause rot to the stem of my dracaena ? Should I just leave this ?

Is this an early sign of spider mites ?

An earlier diagnosis said its just natural for ivy to look like this. I would be glad if it is normal but the leaves look really suspicious.

I repotted it around a month ago and I mist it regularly .

Not sure where the dark speck came from, sunburn ? It is sitting on a window getting plenty of light.

Which japanese towns, cities or villages would you recommend to experience some calm ?

I always watch these videos of people just going about their day and going for walks in forests (bonus if there is a stream nearby) . It would be nice to experience some nature and tranquility braided into modern life and comforts. My husband and I live in England and would love to go to Japan one day.

Aside from the touristy stuff, we just like to walk around and discover places ,often with no agenda. We try and book boutique hotels or ones in nicer neighbourhoods and like to discover places on foot. Its nice to stumble upon lovely cafes, eateries , art galleries completely by chance. Its always such a treat to be able to just have a nice conversation with locals.

Do you know which places in Japan can offer this laid back vibe ?

I would want to stay in a quaint little air bnb but not fussed.

Another thing worth noting is that both my husband and I are of Indian origin and vegetarians but we do eat eggs. Would food be a challenge for us ?

What are these spots on my sorry looking orchid: featuring other problems...

There is damage to the leaves because the pot was sitting too low in the decorative spot but I have fixed that now.

The leaves are fairly wrinkles even though I try and water when they are silvery or almost silvery.

I recently noticed these black spots, I dabbed this with alchohol on a bud and nothing came off.

My flowers are also looking transparent now and the buds look shrivelled up

Is my pothos okay or do I have some sort of infestation ?

I got this plant recently from a local plant shop. I hozed it down and quarantined it. I came in to check on it and noticed some marks.

I hope its nothing but if it is, what is it and how do I tackle it please ?

Thoughts and prayers

Do the pale leaves mean spider mites on my Ivy?

I have been noticing the leaves turning a bit pale, I can't quite see anything on the under side of the leaves but also appreciate it is hard to spot them with the naked eye.

I should have dusted these on a piece of paper to see if I could see anything on the white sheet but it looks like i will have to wait and see when the plant dries.

It has been getting a lot more sun given its summer lately, idk if that would make a difference ? I swear if it is spider mites I dont have the strength to deal with it

Is this root rot?

Is this root rot on my ficus elastica? I have roots poking out of the soil from the top. I just repotted this too.

GO/BADUK : teacher

Anyone know how to play go and up for meeting playing the Game sometime in August in the City Centre ?

I know the basic rules but I clearly suck and dont know any strategies. I thought it would be fun to play this game with someone as opposed to the usual robot I play with , who whoops me without any mercy every time .
