What toys did medieval children have?

I collect stuffed animals and dolls, and I think if I'd been around in a vague medieval era, I'd be doing the same. I've been slowly making more medieval clothing (again, a vague era, nothing too specific), and collecting little things I think I'd have as a peasant. A polished walnut shell, an old looking bell, a pewter charm of a saint, that kind of stuff. I'd love to make some toys, the kind that a peasant might have.

(I've made a chaperone, tabard, and a tunic, and I've got plans to make braise and chausses. My goal is to be "just some guy", if that makes sense)

I'd love to learn about the history of medieval toys. Gimme all the pdf's and links!

Any information on this doll?

I've named her clementine ❤️

First two images are after cleaning her up, second two are before, and the last one is the back of her head.

I found her at a value village for like 5 bucks. I disassembled her, washed her body and clothes, changed her stuffing, and scraped the excess glue off of her head. She's missing a finger and was obviously smashed pretty badly. Her clothes look like they were burnt in some places, and are fraying in others. Despite all that, I think she looks pretty good. I did unfortunately mess up her eyes. The washing loosened the paint on her eyelids, so i tried to remove the eyes to repaint. Ended up breaking them. Glued them back together, and used air dry clay to stick them in place. So alas, she can't blink anymore. My dad says it makes her less creepy though lol.

She has two layers of dress, and im thinking about remaking them at some point...

The way I collect, i don't care about the monetary value of a doll, or if i lower it. I am interested in their history, though. The back of her head says "1923 by grace s Putnam made in Germany"

What websites or books have good information on dolls? I'm always wanting to learn more about my ladies. Thank you!

Concert at phillips backyard was wonderful

I've been to three concerts in my entire life. The backyardagains, bobs and Lolo, and now modest mouse! I had a lovely time, and I think the seagulls enjoyed it too lol.

Issac said he was getting over a chest cold, so he couldn't hit all the notes he wanted to, but it all still sounded great.

Pigeon

I was doubtful pretty much the whole time I was doing the body. Now that it's done, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm very proud of how the head turned out

How best to preserve a tiny mouse

If you've seen my posts on r/petmice you'll know of the pathetic creature. Barely larger than a blackberry, missing an ear and some fur. Im hoping to preserve her, and would like to know the best methods for such a small mouse.

I have some experience with preservation (rabbits foot, bugs, taxidermy rats) and some supplies (salt, borax, isopropyl alcohol, designated exacto knife).

In the meantime, she'll be in the freezer (away from food)

Pathetic creature update :(

She was alive this morning, and then sometime in the afternoon, I discovered she was gone.

She died in a mushroom house full of quilt batting and paper towels, with a full belly, and nothing to fear. A far cry better than on the beach, in the rain, without food of shelter.

A similar thing happened to me with a barred owl. Found on the road, barely alive, I brought it home, where it died peacefully in a cardboard box in a dark room.

And a varried thrush that hit a window.

I don't mind being a sort of hospice for dying animals. Giving them soft warmth and safety in their final hours.

Still, I'll miss the pathetic creature.

Pathetic creature update

He survived the night! He's been more active, even jumping around a bit. Though he does spend most of his time sleeping. Every time I look, he's in a new place.

I clipped some fabric on to keep it dark. He's also got a heater. It's some kind of wire my dad had in the basement. It's taped to a slab or marble as a heat sink, so it won't get too hot. I've been checking it regularly, and it's a gentle warmth.

He's got paper towel and quilt batting (the good stuff, not polyester strands) to cuddle with, though he seems content with being on the food dish or under the sticks. He's also got two hides, both with soft stuff in them. He was in the toilet paper tube for a little while.

There is a wildlife rehab near me, and im going to call them to ask if they'd take him. Mice are the chicken nuggets of the wild, though, so idk if they'll want to expend resources on him.

I do have polysporin, and was thinking of slathering some on him.... antibiotics would probably be helpful with whatevers going on with him

Found the most pathetic creature, and took him home

Was taking pics of a plant on the beach, and I spotted the smallest, most pathetic creature I've ever seen. He was barely moving, far from any cover or food. I scooped him up in a yogurt container i was intending to fill with sand for my terrarium, and brought him over to the blackberry brambles. I sat there for at least half an hour, watching him eat a berry. I decided I couldn't just leave him to his fate. I took him home and set him up in an old aquarium with lots of food, water, and shelter. He's got mealworms, blackberries, raspberries, mint, and sunflower seeds.

Hopefully, I'll be able to release him back where I got him. He might be an adult jumping mouse that's going through a molt? They usually don't survive those in the wild.

Im hoping he's just molting and dehydrated, and not mangey and dying.

Weird skeletons at the hand of man museum

Ive no idea what the first one is. Best guess is a shrew of some sort? Might be articulated strangely. Second one I'm pretty sure is a dog, but i think it's missing some toes.

Enclosure help- adult female regal

My girl, Rhoda, is in a 4.5 x 4.5 x 7.5 inch enclosure at the moment, but i was thinking of upgrading her to a 7.5 x 7.5 x 12 bioactive enclosure. I have experience with bioactive enclosures (snails, slugs, previous giant house spiders), and lots of stuff to clutter it up. Really, im going to make it a bioactive enclosure either way (i need something to do), but i want to know if I should go all in on making it for Rhoda in particular, or if it would be too large for her.

Her current tank is kinda desert themed, and she seems content? I get vibes of boredom, but I'm not sure if that's just me projecting or if she really is bored. She likes to sit in a sun beam like a cat and doesn't like to interact with me. Like a cat.

Do vyvanse dissolvable capsules have wheat?

Im allergic to wheat, not celiac, and I've been taking Vyvanse for a while now. Recently, I got switched to the generic brand (capsules look the same), Apo-lisdexamfetamine (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate), and have been.... excreting mucous from my butt. Which is my usual symptom of "ate something that 'may contain wheat'" (full exposure gives me instant violently painful diarrhea until my entire digestive system is wiped clean)

Again, the capsules look the same, but I think I was having mild symptoms earlier as well, but was ignoring them.... as one does.

Would be great to borrow a wheat sniffing dog for a day....

My pharmacist is great, and im sure if I brought this up to him, he'd go on a deep dive to figure it out, but I don't want to send him on that dive if it's not even a possibility, ya know?

How to help this dappled willow?

Got it from my work. It had been left on the top of a rack, in direct sunlight, and hadn't been watered in a few days. As a result, it lost all its leaves, except for the ones pictured above. It's still green and looking pretty good, despite its nudity.

It's now in the shade, and I'm watering it regularly. Is there anything else I can do to help it along? Thinking of making it an indoor plant, as ive not got much room outside.

Located on vancouver island, if that helps
