What are these clear, twisted plastic rods? About 12” long and 1/2” wide, with metal end caps screwed in. Lightweight. A few are split and screwed together.

What is wrong with member services?

Really, truly, I am so tired of the way they are.

  1. A year ago, I had a massive billing error (not my fault) that resulted in my son and I being booted from our insurance. After talking in circles for some time, the rep clearly did not understand the issue, and when I asked very nicely to escalate to a supervisor, he refused! He said I had to deal with him. Wtf. I was super nice and calm the whole time, but he was super offended and would not tranfer me!

  2. Recently I again called about a confusing premium bill that vaguely threatened my insurance again. Member services said they were transferring me to the premium billing department, and the "premium billing department " said no problem, they would email me my itemized premium bill. Instead they sent me my EOB - totally different. So I called back and the new rep said oh np, you can't talk directly to premium billing. When I asked for clarification about who I spoke to on the last call, she got weirdly evasive and started behaving in a strange, passive aggressive way toward me. If you know you know. The whole time, I kept things really relaxed and polite, so I don't know what her deal was.

At the end of the call, she said, "well I will send your complaint..." Again, wtf, I had no complaint (well at this point, I was ready to make complaint about her). This is where I got pissed (still totally polite though) and said I didn't want a complaint against the last rep, and if she insisted on filing one, to please add that it was filed against my wishes. It was so uncomfortable. I am not in the business of messing with people's jobs, even if they are irritating, as kp reps so often are. Obviously she took offense (or something) about my questions relating to what department does what, but that is a her problem, and I guess Kaiser because their internal structures are so damn opaque.

Anyhow, thanks for listening. Have you had an experience in Kaiser Kafkaland?

Review: Almost one year in and I’m not happy with my S7 Max Ultra

  1. 7 months in I had the brush cleaner jam and had to spend $50 plus time packing and shipping it back for repair. At least it was fairly simple to set up the repair. Kicking myself for not buying the extended warranty but I don’t think I want to keep this model much longer anyway.

  2. Pictures is the dirty water from hand mopping my 800 square foot common area right after the Roborock ran. I mop daily with the Roborock and hand mop every 1-2 weeks. This was 1.5 weeks since hand mopping. I have pets but we are shoes off in the home.

I would consider getting a Roborock in the future but definitely would need a spinning or roller mop rather than a useless pad. I would also buy the extended warranty and keep the packing materials.

How to train hand-shy puppy on the basics (not reach desensitization)

I have a 8 old month foster puppy that is very afraid of hands outreached to here. We have been working on desensitizing her for about 6 weeks but so far have made very little progress. We continue to work on that, but in the meantime I have been unable to teach her other basic commands such as sit, stay, etc. Any ideas to help that along is appreciated.

She is treat motivated, but I have to toss the treats her way without facing her, she will not take them from my hand, or if I am giving them to her head-on, or if there is a lot of noise or other people around.

I realize I am out my my depth here, and am hoping to send her to a foster with more training experience, but so far no luck. Thanks!

What do you know about akathisia? What would you do if a patient presented with s/s of akathisia and was in acute distress?

Is it something all psychiatrists are trained to spot? What is your protocol when you do see it? Thanks.

Need recommendations for comfy, waterproof dog couch for my old pup

He's about to turn 11 and has aged rapidly this year :(

He's slowing down and having a harder time these days getting up and down off the couch and his special chair.

I am looking for something lower to the ground and super comfy for him. He loves the chair pictured - something that is a miniature easy chair or sofa would be great, Most dog beds seem like they a little too low to the ground for his comfort (I know I have a hard time lifting myself up from the ground these days!).

It has to be leather or waterproof, or else one of my cats will pee on it.

Any recommendations much appreciated!

Q7 Max plus doesn’t clean that well

I run it 2x day, but I find when I spot clean with a paper towel, it’s very dirty. I deep mop once every two weeks. I use a small amount of floor cleaner in the roborok water. I change out the Roborock pad about once every week or two.

We are a busy household with two dogs and two cats. No shoes inside.

Is this normal? Maybe I need to properly mop more often?

If it’s not that, I wonder where I’m going wrong or what I can change to make it work better? Thanks for any advice.

Trichologist appointment tomorrow- to wash or not to wash?

I forgot to ask and now it’s too late. I am finding conflicting advice on the internet. What were you advised before your appointment?

Want to try a topper but worried I’ll get headaches

I can’t wear anything remotely tight on my head such as headbands, even beanies unless they are loose, or I get bad tension headaches. Is there any hope I can use a topper? Maybe a very small one?

My loss is diffuse but shows more around my crown and temples. Good quality toppers are so expensive! Worth it if I can actually use it but I’m afraid it will end up binned.

Derm can’t tell me how much a scalp biopsy will cost - normal?

They quoted me for the consult and biopsy on their end, but not the lab cost. Not even a range. Is this typical? I am in the US, paying out of pocket.

Foster puppy is resource guarding me

I have been fostering a 6-month-old puppy for 10 days who has major, major anxiety. I won’t go into every detail (though feel free to ask!), but I just realized that she started resource guarding me yesterday. This is something I know enough to identify, but I’ve never dealt with it myself.

Edit: Her behaviors are not aggressive (yet), just pasting herself to me and inserting herself between myself and others. She’s extremely insecure. There are three other adults and one child in the house - she seems to like everyone and will Velcro herself to them when I’m not here, but prefers me.

I’m meeting with a trainer on Thursday and plan to take her to the vet for anxiety meds, but I’m hoping you can direct me to the resources you like best on this subject, and on increasing confidence in general.

I’ll add that she loves treats, but they are less motivating then her fear, so training has been a challenge. Thank you!

How does an attorney’s reputation impact negotiations?

I recently regained a legal team that I am very happy with for an employment matter. I never knew before my search for an attorney that there were so many questionable practices that are only willing to engage in quick settlements rather than fully represent their plaintiff (though I understand most cases settle).

That got me wondering, how much the reputation of the attorney colors the negotiations. For example, my lead attorney recently won a multi million dollar settlement at trial in a case similar to mine.

Obviously facts and law matter most, but I’ve not really seen this talked and am curious your thoughts!

Why do so many people here not immediately request a right to sue letter?

I’ve been reading this sub with a lot of interest- the ere are some helpful attorneys and discussions here. But I don’t understand why the majority bother with an EEOC investigation and don’t directly request a RTS letter. Especially those with an attorney. Is it in hopes of a quick mediation?

My understanding is that the EEOC is so backlogged they are not completing requests within 180 days. Is that not the case everywhere?

My attorneys requested a RTS letter and got it within a day or two. We are filing a lawsuit shortly. No EEOC involved.

Good luck everyone!

Experts among us, please help. I have terrible vision so need good eye relief and as little focusing as possible. I also have a medical condition that causes extreme arm weakness, so the more lightweight the better.

I have done some research and am looking at an 8x42 like the Pentex SD, TerraVision Pro, or possibly the 5x25 vision king - I am very undecided though! Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated.
