A lot of my work has been distributed

So when I first started and had a different manager , I was loaded with work and was so happy that I had ownership with what I was doing.

Later, the old manager resigned and now we have three more people including the manager that started with us. Since then my work has been a lot late due to their changes in process etc. we would be in meetings and I would hear conversations about topics that were not even communicated to me and it would be something I was once doing…

Doing meaningless work now

When I started in April and had a different manager (amazing one) I was so happy at work and got to do all the work that was stated on my position description ( I’m in Hr) up until that manager left and now have a new manager. Since then I have been given meaningless work, most of core hr duties has been taken away from me and most of the time I am just updating Excel sheets and tracking expiry dates on qualifications of employees.

My intuition tells me I am getting fired

I have started to pick up subtle vibes at work lately: feeling invisible as I am being excluded or being looked at like I once was, my duties changed drastically only doing maybe 4 out of 10 things, meaningless work, boss smiles or interacts with me much less, appreciation is given to everyone more than me, my errors are picked up quickly.

I would get subtle hints from seniors saying “ let’s see how you improve during your probation” or anything I suggest they say “ let’s do it smarter not harder”

I was performing so well up until new management came in.

Something tells me that I’m not wanted anymore.

Should be concern?

For the past few weeks I have had small quick catch’s ups with my manager who is new to the workforce as well. I had an amazing manager prior and he was always so supportive and trusted my work , which made me naturally want to do good at my job and I was. Got lots of praises for my work up until the new manager joined and now wants a one on one catch ups.

She would ignore all the implementation and the project I completed and jump right into the petty errors I have made. Mind you, she also makes mistakes that I have called her out on as well, but what kept standing out to me was how she would keep saying after pointing out the minor errors “ we will see how you go during your probation and whether you improve”

She is also on probation and had made quite some mistakes as well and I would call them out and she would either dismiss it or say “ oh I’m just new and still learning” But when I make it’s her bringing up issues and saying how she wants to see how I improve during probation?

Does anyone back date their past employment on resume

I would like to start looking for a new role as the one I am currently is quite toxic : want approvals on everything I do, wants the work done their way even though my way gives the same outcome, and just bossy

I wanted to know if anyone had backdated their dates on resume to make it look like they have worked with the company longer and to kill off the short contractual jobs? For example, I started in April but I want to back date it to January so not have shown I have worked in the company longer.

I also want to do this because I have had many short term jobs I.e 3 months then got a 5 month job etc

Thanks

Can someone explain?

Can someone explain to me how does one secretly secure another role while having a current job? Managing to go do interviews virtually or in person, whose reference they put would it include their current job? At what point they let their current manager know they are leaving and what do they say when asked at exit interviews ?

Thanks

How do you motivate yourself or what to do at work when you have a micro manager?

I started a role few months ago, and it was all going well. The old manager was really great: often supportive , kind and trusting of your work. The environment felt safe up until he resigned and was replaced by the head and then a business partner who also got hired. I report directly to the head and she is loving, kind and sweet.

My issue is with the business partner constantly asking questions on my work, regular updates, wants things approved first before it goes out, always questioning my work and I always end up providing valid reasons. I started losing motivation since to work.

How to deal with this or what to do? Should I get a new job?

Made a mistake at work that is small but my body reacts big

Sometimes when I make mistakes my brain immediately think I am no longer safe and my job is on the line.

It doesn’t happen with every management, but my body reacts a lot more to some leaders then others (the ones that are gentle if you make mistakes)

Am I the only one that experience this ?

What do I do?

Hi all,

I have just completed my 3 months of the 12 months at my workplace and we recently had two senior persons in our department joined in ( I am in HR). Since then, role responsibilities have not been clear as at times someone else does my work and vice versa, there has been more manual work than before, I don’t feel I have much autonomy now , many of what I enjoy has now been given to the new hirer to do and I am no longer getting as much exposure to my role as I used to.

I have started to feel less motivated due to lack of structure.

I am in a dilemma between if I should move to another role or would this look bad in my resume for just having worked there for couple months? Previous to this current role, I worked somewhere else for just 5 months.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Any introverts who works in HR?

I had recently change my career from accounting to HR and while I do enjoy what I do in HR, I still find it quite hard to engage much socially with peers and colleagues. All of the other team members in the department are very social, but I am more of a listener than a speaker when it comes to people who I am not really close with.

Do you give your current employment references for a new job offer?

Hi all,

I am almost coming to the end of getting an offer at a new workplace and wanted to know if we should give our current employment references as part of their reference check? I don’t feel quite comfortable letting anyone in my current company know that I am seeking another role elsewhere and they can find out if I request to use them as my reference check.

Any leads would be appreciated thanks.

Best way to response to interview question: “what is your current salary?” Or “what was your salary at your previous workplace?”

I am not sure how to respond to questions like “what is your current salary?” Or “what was your salary at your previous workplace?” Any help is appreciated.

How do you deal with coworkers who love to gossip?

I have recently started this new role as an HR few months ago and we are all women in the department. I find it extremely hard to blend in because they engage in gossips a lot, which is something I don’t usually like engaging myself in. But, it then makes me feel isolated and not part of the “circle” or “excluded” from my own team.
