Is there any issue buying second hand avalanche gear?

Found on Facebook marketplace full avalanche gear (probe, shovel and transponder) says it’s all checked and works reliably. Asking 350 CAD. To me seems a good deal but wondering if there’s any issues I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance

How to choose length and width for skis?

Going to be skiing a season in Revelstoke this winter. How do I choose the length and width for a set of skis. I am 6ft 2 and my weight can vary from around 95kg-100kg. People here say for me to ski 105-110 underfoot and about 180 length. No idea on if that’s accurate just looking for advice? If it’s important thinking about either powder or all mountain skis

How screwed am I? Car won’t move into drive unless L4 or H

To start off my partner and I are living in Canada on a working holiday visa so not earning the big bucks. We have a 2001 4Runner at 450,000km. After driving it we stopped off at a shop, When we turned the car back on shifted into drive and the car wouldn’t move. However when we shifted into L4 or H the car would move and reverse. Can we keep driving in this mode or should we get rid of the car?
Thanks in advance

Edit: solved. I’ve bumped it into neutral somehow so all sorted

How to choose second set of skis?

Hi there,
Moved to Revelstoke and hoping to work the winter season. I currently have mindbender K2 89 underfoot 177 length. How do I choose the second pair some people have told me 110 width others like 105? I would like to also get into backcountry so is it best getting a backcountry set up then use on piste or another for piste and then one for backcountry?
Thanks in advance

How does using a GPS and total station together work?

Today I was out at Revelstoke mountain and saw a couple of surveyors using both a GPS and total station for surveying work. Just wondering how they both work together? Back in the UK when I’m setting up and surveying I just use the total station then either resection or set up off known points when using pins in the ground.
Did try and ask him but was busy in the set up so just walked away. Any info would be great

Strange how people stick in our memory no matter how long it’s been.

I find it funny that no matter how long it’s been the impact they made on my plus others in similar circumstances lives. My first ever serious girlfriend and I split 3 years ago. Even though it’s been so long every so often she still pops in my head and I just wonder how she is, if everything is ok in her life and that she is keeping well. We split for several reasons including my lack of understanding and maturity but I still have a place for her.
My current partner who I’ve been with for 2 years and love very much are moving to Canada tomorrow, I think this big move has just flooded my mind with memories. Bit of a waffle but thought to share if anyone has been in a same position.

Moving to Revelstoke. Tips about getting into backcountry.

I’m moving to Revelstoke from the UK in a couple of weeks working at the resort and hopefully will be working there this winter as well. I have been skiing for 5 years now with some messing around in bounds powder and would like to try backcountry. Wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions from courses or gear. Also is there anything I should get now whilst in the UK or wait until I am out. I Have my own piste skis and boots do I need a new set of boots.

I’m 27 and my partner and I are moving to Canada in the first week of June on a working holiday visa. We are moving to the Rockies from the UK. My partner has lived away from home before for uni however I haven’t due to doing an apprenticeship. This is a massive moment for both of us as we are temporarily putting our careers on pause to pursue a lifelong dream but the anxiety of moving away from home and everyone to another country is at the back of my mind no matter how excited I am. Any tips to deal with it and how to get the most out of moving to a new place?

Thanks in advance.
