Fantastic Americano

~ 1:3 in ~ 25 secs ~ 1:4 with steamed water

I rarely drink americano. Just installed new chute on my DF54 so and instead of my K6 and pour over coffee decided to go for an americano.

Incredible Americano, lovely balance, sweetness, and flavours on this one are wild.

I think it has the lychee coferment people say smell like weed. Well it feels a bit like drinking weed. And it’s not far away ff PP’s BPM blend imo flavour wise.

Drinking port wine in the morning

First shot, drunk as latte of this B&W black cherry natural.

I did a lovely cup as V60 yesterday. Nice body, chocolatey, not super wine-y.

That espresso shot 19g to 40g was super wine-y. Wow. Chocolate and port wine defo there woof.

I may go slightly coarser and longer ratio, but that’s it I think won’t change too much.

Great coffee as espresso or pour over.

Had 4 B&W last 6 months all great coffees.

B&W Black cherry natural

Made a lovely breakfast cup with this. Great body, nice flavours; wine/chocolate defo there.

20g to 300; 92c; bloom + 3 pours. ~3:00

What should I change first if I want to push and find cherry notes? - using bottled water and can’t change that parameter.

Cheers all - may crack open the future later!…

Summer juicy beans

I am about to buy the new future B&W blend as I want some fruity beans for pour over ice.

Just checking if there’s anything else I should be considering at the moment? I don’t mind it’s a coferment.

I already had People Possession blends before.

Cheers all

Is this a waste?

Lovely Horsham Costa Rica - Geisha - which they sent me for free.

Brewed over ice - 20g - 120g ice - 200ml - 92c. OXO water tank on top of B75 ftw.

Juicy - juicy! Not sure I taste the peach but v natural fruity juiciness. Nice bit of acidity and great coffee kick as well - it’s not tea!! Love it.

Roasted on 02/02 - I had frozen it.

Horsham one of my fav roasters. V reasonable price.

My go to there is their El Zumo - amazing as espresso will try as pour over next time I get it.

Guess kit - making iced pour over

Mixing a few bits of kits today brewing a blend of rejected beans.

Ooof - lovely juicy cup! I tend to add too much agitation. That setup was lovely for iced pour over.

20g - 120g ice - ~ 200ml water at ~ 92 c

Happy brewing!

What do you do with beans you’re not a fan of?

Was gifted a kilos worth of a bag of espresso beans I am really not a fan of. I already had loads of coffee. So I froze what I was given quite quickly.

Just ran a single shot with ice cream, lovely.

I don’t think I eat enough affogato to finish this bag only on this but that’s one good use…

Next Horsham order

Hey - I ran a surprise blend earlier - bunch of beans I’ve frozen; pretty sure it had some El Zumo inside, and it was amazing.

So I’m decided on getting some more. Anything else worth trying at Horsham at the moment?

I like workhorse but a bit boring, didn’t really like Nova.

Open to a filter option if v worth it.

Cheers all

Was struggling with beans, thought grinder-machine was the problem

I’ve been struggling super hard with some September beans for espresso.

I was going mad thinking my grinder was broken - as part of this I did broke the chute cover lol - and I thought my bambino was done.

I tried different ratios etc. I got nothing out of those beans, and also a few astringent shots.

Got from a freezer a ‘surprise blend’ didn’t know what was in there. Shot didn’t look great. Drunk anyway and it was amazing; I think a fair amount are workhorse and el zumo blend; amazing.

Drinking incredible coffee - don’t know what’s in there :(

I’ve had some people possession for a while; WWE - watermelon coferment I’ve struggled with. I think in the last few months I’ve added a few beans from Coffee I almost finished; I don’t even remember except some natural Burundi from kiss the hippo…

But this cup tastes like cherries. It’s incredible. V complex notes with cherries coming through, maybe strawberries too, but remaining quite natural (even though there’s at least some watermelon coferment), and still v much in coffee territory…

I am brewing with oxo with tank. 15 to 250…

I’m gutted I’m not sure what I’m drinking exactly except I think most of it is people possession WWE, and few natural Burundi beans… and I’ve not really liked that WWE…

Aaaargh!…

Got this small bad boy today

Long story short: I don’t have budget/space for fancy kettle. So I got this little bad boy to help with control and consistency; I only make batches for myself. So capacity is enough for me.

Lovely little pouring pot.

Needed a gentle cup to start the day

And it was a fine cup - kiss the hippo natural Burundi.

I used to only do lattes, espresso or moka. Nice to have an option with no sugar no milk, gentle and tasty cup when I feel like it - I started with the afternoon pour over cup, and now mornings as well…

Although i stupidly did it in V60, with the 10 pour recipe… not a morning recipe that. Doubt I’ll do it again. Cup was fine but not better, or didn’t feel good pouring it.

V nice cup - Kiss the Hippo

Ok ngl I did’t really get the notes on the first cup

I’ll say I made a v nice cup of coffee with my B75 - 15 to 250. Nice bit of acidity, ok body, juicyness. Lovely.

I’ll go a tad coarser next and also try on V60 and espresso.

Doubt anyone had this one but if anyone has let me now your thoughts please.

A black kite above the kestrel?

South of France. I am pretty sure it wasn’t a red kite - I am used to red kites and colour pattern you can’t see here didn’t match, so I assume black kite? Evening time so can’t bring up colours and phone pic from video… Ta!

Getting there with B75

I’ve had the B75 for a couple of days - tried a few cups and I’m getting there. Fun brewer as it’s so fast I can try different things.

It’s indeed incredibly fast so I go v fine - I usually go coarse on V60 and a ~ 20 click diff!, and I’ve also added a bit of manual agitation. And tried different recipes; this one 13g: 60g 45 sec bloom - 4 pulses 40 40 40 30.

A v fruit forward cup with enough body.

I enjoy this coffee. I appreciate it’s infused but to me it’s not overwhelming; red fruit/strawberry is there but in a pleasant way and not too sweet.

I’ve also brewed the new Milky Cake and pushed extraction and got a v nice cup - notes v v subtle but some notes there and a nice cup overall.

Lovely!

Milky cake help

Hey - so I’m having great result with Milky Cake as espresso. But as a filter so-so; it’s kind of flat.

I’ve tried in V60, oxo with tank, B75.

Tried different recipes, temperature: classic 4:6; 15 to 250 with 50-70-80-100, etc. Manual intervention etc.

Anyone got great result with that new batch and mind sharing their recipe?

I’m on K6 grinder

Thanks!

New brewer! - thank you Sigma

I do try to support local roasters, but also supporting this fantastic business in the UK. A new brewer and two bags from international roasters. First time with September / listed as espresso though.

I’ll be starting later on the B75; I know it runs fast. I’m on a K6 Grinder; any tips/recipes for getting decent results quickly?

Thanks!!!

Travel options

Hi - I need to bring some kit with me for holidays. I have manual grinder, hario air kettle, - glass switch not keen to take, oxo with tank - which could consider but don’t want to risk tbf as it’s my go to for work.

Should I just buy a cheap plastic v60? Or any other non expensive plastic options? Read about timemore, origami air a which could then add another type of brewer, experiment with flat ones?

What’s your thoughts / experiences?

I generally don’t mind experimenting.

Thanks.

So good - DAK - Milky Cake-ish

I think I’ve drunk my favourite latte ever - and I’ve made it!!! And the milk wasn’t even perfect.

Straight out of the bag, first shot: 30 sec - 18 to 41.

As a latte - just so good. I’ve just enjoyed the first sip so much, I didn’t really focus on picking up notes or anything, it was just perfect for me.

When I tried to get back to the job of tasting - cake-y indeed, notes of cardomom, chocolate.

17 days off roast - espresso roast.

I’ll probably ruin it now, playing around with grind size and extraction length, ratios…

Anyone in a bambino tried this? What’s your recipe.
