Day 29. No escaping it, he's fully fledged.

Fearless too it seems and he even can gain some height. Flew out of my wife's hand during his leg exercises and did this.

Called out loudly until we came over though afterwards, it might hav just been his first real flight, so we'll see how he goes in the morning now, i expect to come home and find him not in his nest at the end of the day from the looks of it.

Day 25. Standing up and taking charge

The little fella is not afraid to stand up anymore, or insist on where he can sit his rump. Did not want to go to bed right away after perch practice or standing around, and spent all day standing around in his nest. He's a lot more confident on that leg now and all his fluff is falling off.

Tomorrow's a home day, tomorrow might be a "ground day" if he doesnt leave the nest on his own.

Day 24. Captain Clumsy has liftoff

Someone leapt out of my hands, headbutt the wall, then started staggering around the pavers on my back verandah after their exercises this evening. I swear he's acting like my toddler used to.

Hasn't quite figured out the "walking" bit yet, but he has half of Buzz Lightyear's "falling with style" at least.

Day 23. Landing Gear Check

post physio, post perching practice, an attempt to see if he's got any residual muscle injury or a splayed leg, he's perching quite nicely and happily, couple that with a lot of wing tests both this evening while doing his leg physio and sitting in the nest at dawn, i think he's flight ready once he gets that confidence to take the leap...

Day 17. Physiotherapy

This is what it looks like when you're trying ot rehabilitate a bad leg. He's certainly ready to fly though, tried more than once this evening to flap out of my hands.

and he's at the stage now where his talons are sharp enough for gripping bark, which means if i dont want to get a tetanus booster, i need to be wearing leather gloves from now on. But he was facinated by seeing himself in the camera though as you can see.

he wasn't in pain for those who are curious, he just didnt like that i was gently holding his left wing down so he wouldn't keep trying to scurry out from my hands. It's been a cold day and he tried to bolt into the cage while i was doing his therapy. You'll also see a few times i dont extend as far, that's me not forcing it if he tenses his leg up, i'm not trying to break a bone, just strengthening exercise.

Day 16. Home Sweet Home

Rather than showing you more of him in the nest, i figured I’d take a chance to show you his night time digs on our back verandah. He likes it in there, immediately repositions himself to be night and settled. The twigs and branches are piled up same as they are in the "nest", so he has to perch at night rather than sit on a flat. And the entire cage is draped in cloths to make sure it's nice and dark in there for him.

Cage used to be far to big for him, now I think he's getting far too big for it. but the little fella knows it's safe enough to go straight to sleep the moment he's inside, which is good. Beats having a distressed bird in a cage that's for sure.

I know i've been asked to post a video of the physio routine, he didnt want to cooperate in the wind this afternoon long enough for me to set up a video, so i'll try in the morning at dawn when the wind has stopped.

Day 11. Shivering in the cold snap

I put the little fella out, but the nest was obviously a fair bit too bare after a while, when i checked later it was shivering so i put the old rag in and now the ltitle fella is much more comfortable.

Has not stopped begging for food all morning, i mean more than usual, I've been able to hear him feels like every 5 minutes the parents are dropping off some food. Must be a growth spurt.

Day 6. Parents didnt even wait for me to finish putting the little fella up in the nest at dawn before the parade of food started.

I didnt want to move until they were gone just in case i spooked 'em. I thought they were swooping me, but no, it was one of 'em with food in it's mouth and another flying to watch from the magnolia above.

The baby's feathers if you look are almost fully unfurled now compared to nearly a week ago when the little fella just had pins and nothing else on the wings. considering the movement he's had around the nest, i think he might try to leave in the next few days.

Day 5, getting stronger by the day. Hungrier too, and the little fella is starting to toss the covers off and move around in the nest on his own

Content and sleeping in the sun.

Will post images later of "day 4", but figured this is what people would like to see RN. just after swapping the nest bedding over to something fresh. He's a little bit bigger than the size of an adult male's clenched fist right now.

A pair of frazzled parents who had a rougher time than their baby did last night.

Woke up to singing and tapping on my door at 6am, the two parents were waiting for me to bring the baby out of the cage for the morning, a bit impatient as one of them had managed to remove the blanket covering it. But we had a nasty wind and rain storm last night in the inner west, the father was swooping past with twigs in it's mouth so i'm betting they were wishing they had the nice warm and secure cage the baby did overnight.

Baby seems happy and well, alert and loud, was tracking me with it's eye and was happy to fall asleep in my hands while transferring it to the cage this morning.

Mumma bird was "Escorting" me with the baby in the bucket today as i set them back up for the morning.

Update from Overnight: Happily family seems reunited, despite their budget accommodations.

best i could do, the tray is a bit too large to fit in any tree and anything i had that was deeper would have been too hard for the parents to access but they were singing for the little guy and have been there ever since. It's a bit exposed but at least it's not going to get attacked by cats.

Found this little fella, I am pretty sure he's a magpie but the only one of 3 that survived a fall in the wind today. Apart from waiting for WIRES to send someone out, is there anything I can do?

there's been two parent magpies floating around, they've come near the box but nothing while this little guy squawks like crazy, WIRES said that it could be a while before anyone gets to him i think he's got a broken leg or some similar injury as he can't even stand up, and is just screaming at me for what i assume is either food or help whenever i go near.

Is Perisher going to be worth it at the ass end of August for a long weekend?

Obviously hte season's been crap but it looks better now, i saw with a whole heap of cancellations that a lot of the lodges have friday -> sunday vacancies at the moment. I was thinking of taking my 4 year old up to the snow for a few days. Is it worth attempting this or is the environment just too poor quality this year compared to the last few years?

Anyone know which steam engine just chugged past Burwood at ~7pm tonight?

Seemed to be heading to central, couldn't make it out which engine it was. It was dark, seemed to have 3-4 carriages and a diesel trailing, didn’t' seem to be one of the bigger ones, 3001 maybe? Anyone know which it was?

Do the usage resets expire?

I subscrubed to Pro 2 weeks ago, it said i had 3 resets available. I've used none at all since i subscribed because of the mana from heaven events going on, but i noticed today i logged into a fresh terminal session and it says i only have one available now. I know for a fact i'm not using them i've not even hit 100% usage before the resets have been coming in from twitter, so it's not me invoking them and then forgetting.

Do they only last a week or two before they expire or something?

Any good photogrammetry AIs out there yet?

I have a bunch of photos of studio minatures from various series that i'd like to accurately recreate in HD. there's poor and inconsistent schematics and blueprints out there, histrically my workflow has been trying to camera/perspective match and model that way which is dodgy.

I've tried a few photogrammetry point clouds and such and they all do a really crappy job resolving shapes and details consistently even if they're pined by guide markers to match element to element.

Are there any AI models out there that can take a bunch of photos that might be in a different perspective, aspect ratio or position (ie: not in studio conditions) and make a 3d model off those reliably? not a single photo, but use a group of them for a more accurate result?

So... revisiting the ending 13 years later...

To me it feels like at the ending it turns into, "It was all a dream".

Booker submits to being drowned by the Elizabeths, as a result, no Comstock, no Columbia, no Luteces (though that can be argued since they're force ghosts outside of space time now anyway). He wakes up in his apartment in the epilogue and goes to check on Anna/Elizabeth. This is the player's "booker" obviously so he didn’t actually die/drown proper, just a collapse of the quantum superpositions that the Luteces were going on about right? So since none of these events come to pass _anymore_ in the game, it's basically just a dream to Booker, right? The only people who have any memory of the variant states of the timeline are the force ghost luteces and the one Elizabeth from Burial at Sea chasing the last comstock?

Or am I mis interpreting something here?

There's been an incident on the corner of Kent and Market in the CBD. Cops have closed the intersection near Pyrmont bridge. Avoid the are if you can

There's been a fatality, just left my office building and traffic is already backed up all the way past the QVB with the cops and RMS trying to divert traffic and passengers away

Save my poor hands, Tile removal help

I'm renovating a kitchen, trying to take off some really old tiles that used to be the splashback around the kitchen area between the cupboards. I've got a Skutch and a mallet to get the tiles off, fine, but the mortar itself sealing them to the concrete rendered wall is a nightmare.

I have a Makita 9501B angle grinder, and a Makita belt sander on hand (or a kennards nearby), anyone got a recommendation on how i might exactly polish down the walls and remove this tile render (and few shards of ceramic tile still embedded in the wall) so i can get it smooth enough as needed for a glazier to install new glass splashbacks please?

I heard that a diamond cup wheel on an angle grinder might work but i'm pretty sure they dont make them for my particular one, so i'm open to hiring a tool for a day or so from kennards, just not sure which one all the tile removal stuff keeps aiming towards demolition hammers and impact drills.
