EV experience on MV?

I'm thinking of visiting for 3-4 days (first trip!), and am wondering what people's experiences with EVs have been on the island? I'd arrive with close to a full charge.

There are a number of Level 2 (slow) chargers on the island, but the only ones in town are a pair at Edgartown park and ride.

It this a really poor idea, or has it worked for people?

Pleather durability.

All cars age, and stuff wears out. What's showing its age on yours? Not looking at battery or mechanical stuff, but in the cabin.

Me:
June 2019 Model 3 SR+, 131k miles
Lives on a New England driveway when home. Daily driver. Mostly rural, with a couple trips 200 miles+ a month.

The 'pleather' has not performed well.

The driver's headrest wore through within 5 years. Had to replace it, and put covers on both front headrests.

The interior handle on the driver's door has similarly been worn through by my left knee, which habitually leans against it.

The drivers seat has worn through in a 2x3 inch area under my left thigh, and cracked under the right one.

I don't expect a car to last forever, but this has been a disappointment.

What is the deal with flags? I hear that displaying the British flag is banned. Is this the Union Jack, or the St.George's flag?

In the US, flags are everywhere.

Weird monitor scaling issue.

I have a large, hi-res monitor. Today, when I started Tinkercad, and opened an existing project, the Tinkercad window seems to have the wrong resolution - all the icons are much larger than they were previously, seriously impacting the workspace. In particular the object properties panel covers things up.

This isn't Windows or my monitor acting up - all the other elements look just fine. Other sites come up looking like I expected. It's just the Tinkercad workspace that seems to have to problem today that it did not a couple days ago. I'm using the Edge browser. I have tried logging out and restarting.

Older drivers: What accommodations have you had to make?

I'm 69, live in semi-rural area with near-zero public transportation.

Edit: For me, the Tesla "Full self driving (supervised)" has beeen a game changer in its recent iterations. It's far better than you'd expect, and only improving. I expect automated cars will keep me and many other elderly on the road for many years.

[Dont p*ss on me for driving a Tesla. Musk is a total jerk now, but when I bought the car, Greta Thunberg was driving one, and Musk was the darling of decarbonization.]

Graffiti on the Park Hill Masonic Lodge

Pretty mad. These guys are cool and always share their space with community groups and events. "This is a satanic cult" and "God wins" seem like pretty targeted hate rather than kids just being jackasses.

Trying to find a song I believe is called 'Pawnee Bingo'.

I heard it once in the radio, maybe 20 years ago - its country music, and about rednecks packing up the car to drive to a reservation and play bingo.

A particular detail was adding a touch of bourbon to the kid's bottles to make sure they slept on the way.

Any ideas?

Can't unload filament from P1S/AMS.

I have a P1S with an AMS.

The PTFE tube feeding the print head wore out, and the filament has exited the tube several inches short of the head.

I can't get it to unload back onto the AMS. The Device panel in Bambu lab says that reel isn't loaded (its not in the printhead), so I can't unload.

I've tried pulling from the AMS end by the reel, but its stuck fast - apparently at the point where the filament enters the AMS tubing. The filament is strongly held there whether or not the printer/AMS is powered on or off.

How can I clear this so I can replace the PTFE tubes?

I'm considering disconnecting the PTFE tubes on the back of the machine, cutting the filament, and pulling it out, but is there a better way?

Taft’s Masonic Dues Card

Thought you all of you might find this interesting. I belong to the same Masonic Lodge that William Howard Taft belonged to here in Cincinnati. One day while looking around in one of our safes, I found ol’ Billy’s dues card.

Transporting human ashes and a grave marker?

I have to fly across the country next month to inter my mother's ashes in the ancestral graveyard.

What restrictions does the TSA place on this?

Also, I have to transport a 45 lb granite grave marker. I could put it into checked luggage, but is it likely to create a problem, being opaque to xrays? I could use UPS, but that's more expensive.

"3000 year old Egyptian honey is edible". True or false?

I've seen this claim quite a number of times, but never with a primary source.

I did see a claim that a tomb that had (inedible) honey residue also had a jar with some (inorganic) natron solution, with a 'honey like consistency', with the suggestion that the popular press conflated these into '3000 year old liquid honey!'.

Are there any primary resources for edible 3000 year honey? Or can someone dig up the paper with the natron solution?

Honey does have a very long shelf life, but I'm highly skeptical of 3000 years.

Are nails relevant in here?

I was made an EAF recently and in tribute to the evening I had my nails done up all pretty for the evening.

Anyone else got nails to match for their special evening? Show me ideas for my next big night :)
