Across India, we keep learning more about the TMC government sanctioned West Bengal organized crime system, and are shocked time and again by how far these atrocities went. We can only feel sympathy for people who had no one (no judiciary, no central government) to help them.

During the time the TMC state government was in power, there are countless stories coming out about West Bengal police, TMC party workers, elected representatives were involved in serious incidents - ranging from violence, intimidation, arson and sexual offenses - against those who spoke out or opposed them.

The concept of “cut money” or tolabaji system - where payments were expected for things like land deals, events, or even small local initiatives are unique to West Bengal and not heard anywhere rest of India. In all areas, every neighborhood had its own “para dada” (local strongman) who controlled things.

Now that the TMC is no longer in power, this platform is meant to give people a space to share these experiences - big or small, so they can be documented.
