A few points to be noted about the data:

  1. In 1947, OBC as a category did not exist but the actual communities did. The chart is tracing the historical land share of the exact same agrarian castes (like Jats, Yadavs, Marathas, Patels) that fall under the OBC umbrella today.
  2. The 2022 model is accurate, based on recent MoSPI PLFS updates that track "land possessed."
  3. The 1947 one is a VISUAL MODEL of Historical trends.

More than 50% of the deaths by suicide at IITs and IIMs are among GC students. Look carefully—they didn’t even have the decency to include a separate column for GC students. You literally have to deduce the figure by subtracting non-GC students from the total.
