What if Arceus Shed his plates?
"what if there was an event where arceus was forced to spread its plates all over the pokemon world (minus the legend plate for obvious reasons) what would be the best pokemon to find his plates and specifically were going off canon lore of pokemon don't bring up any stats and I'm meaning by "best" in the context of who would get the most usage out of finding that specific plate it has to be a pokemon of the type of the plate and it has to be powerful like have legend level status we count mythicals as legendaries or it could also be the ace pokemon of a champion however that is a lower priority as champions are usually weaker than well legends but back to the pokemon has to be the type of the plate it should also be a good representative of that type that it has to get the plate and it would be good if the pokemon that got a plate had a signature move of the plate's type it would be preferred to be a damaging one but not required with all that said who for which plate?” that is the question i want to answer today
Here are my thoughts if you would like to please share yours!
Blank plate: Regigigas i know i just said that they have to be one of a kind to count here and there is multiple Regigigas at the battle frontier and that Regigigas is not a one of a kind creature but actually a ancient powerful species but i still count it for some reasons despite that first off all there is only 2 real options for a legendary normal type and the other is terapagos which is more of a stellar type than a normal type if there was a plate for the stellar type then terapagos would definitely get it but another reason for Regigigas is that i think we can allow there to be a not one of a kind pokemon for the Blank plate because it is pure well normalcy and an ancient powerful species is more “normal” than a one of a kind creature and i think that Regigigas is a at least decent representative of the normal type because Regigigas is a continent mover but ultimately all of its powers are physical strength and its not brutally attacking or using a certain technique to make it fighting typed so that is normal and i have said that it is not a great representative of the normal type but its a very decent representative of the normal type and decent means average and average means normal so thats another reasons why and also because it has no face but 6 eyes along its body and all it can do to express itself with its face it just to make all the eyes glow you could say that Regigigas always has a blank expression blank just like the Blank plate
Flame plate: Ho-oh i've thought about it more than one might think first off i want to say that i want to answer your question that you likely might have being: “why does Ho-oh get a plate and not lugia?” well i will answer that question that Ho-oh is more important than lugia after all Ho-oh and the beasts are definitely more powerful than lugia and the birds and unlike lugia which in the anime baby lugia exists Ho-oh is a one of a kind both in the anime and the games and also Ho-oh was a destiny setter for ash there was a whole movie about that what was it called again? Pokemon I Choose You! Or something like that? Anyways Ho-oh is the guardian of the heavens with the power of resurrection the spiritual guardian of the skies (Rayquaza is the physical god of the skies) and the original wielder of a fire type damaging almost signature move as sacred fire and i think that out of everyone that could get the Flame plate Ho-oh is one of if not the only one who could control the near unstoppable fire completely (this is the one and only time i will bring the pokemon anime i will not do it again)
Splash plate: Primal Kyogre some might wonder why origin palkia isn't here because in my opinion palkia seems more dragon than water and also palkia's signature move is spacial rend which is dragon type move which is one of my reasons it is more dragon than water like what about palkia screams water? Well nods to mythology and not literal water i still think literal water is more water if you write a comment about how palkia IS very much a water type it is still a lot more dragon than it is water change my mind but Primal Kyogre is not only pure water in type but also quite literally the god of the sea and the ultimate weather for water types can only be set up by Kyogre (Primordial Sea) and it has a water type signature move that deals damage and a lot of it Origin Pulse also Kyogre is box art legendary a one of a kind pokemon and thought by many to be one of or thee strongest water type pokemon and while it definitely is palkia is stronger but if we are talking about pure water types then its easily Primal Kyogre and kyogre also has a very water pokemon or water creature based design so i think that Primal Kyogre is the pokemon that could best utilize the Splash plate
Meadow plate: Calayrex this might be a little bit weird but hear me out Calayrex yes he might be a grass type only in his weaker base form rather than his shadow rider or ice rider forms however Calayrex’s lore is mostly centered around the agricultural state of his kingdom and how his powers made the crops grow stable and crops grow in farm’s land and farm’s land could be considered to be a Meadow that word Meadow just like the Meadow plate that might have been a bit of a stretch but i think that is a suitable reason do yall agree with me? But anyways it would be good for the crown tundra because if Calayrex had the Meadow plate that would be like the pokemon equivalent of almost at least the end of world hunger which is a good thing and i think thats a good reason
Zap plate: Mega Zeroaura okay okay i know many you might not know Zeroaura but still i cant choose anyone else because i cant choose Zapdos because there is multiple Zapdos and i cant choose Raikou cause then i would have to give a plate to Entei and Suicune and there are much better options for the Splash plate and the Flame plate as you saw with Ho-oh and Primal Kyogre i cant choose Zekrom but i almost chose Zekrom but if i choose Zekrom then i would have to give a plate to Reshiram as well and Kyurem and because of their fusion then Kyurem would have more than one plate so that would not be fair and i cant give it to Regieleki because then i would have to give the Draco plate to Regidrago and there are better Dragon types for that and finally i cannot give it to Miraidon because there is more than 1 Miraidon so Zeroaura is the only option here and also Zeroaura not only has a damaging Electric type signature move but also because Zeroaura is the only legendary/mythical to have a Mega form
Icicle plate: Glastrier this was without a doubt the hardest decision i have made in this entire list as i thought that Glastrier shouldn't get the Icicle plate because then spectrier should get a plate but then i thought that “why should they both get plates if Calayrex can only ride one?” and you might be wondering "wouldn't it be unfair to have Calayrex have to plates as you already gave Calayrex the meadow plate if Calayrex rides Glastrier then Calayrex would have 2 plates” and i say that Calayrex Ice Rider is Ice Psychic not grass so Calayyrex can only use 1 plate at a time and then technically Calayrex doesnt have 2 plates and also i choose Glastrier because Glastrier is the only option as there is way too many Articuno so many there is even enough to be some regional diversity with glarian articuno Regice there is also too many because of the battle frontier Kyurem has more connection to dragon than Ice and Chien-Pao is more Dark than Ice also then i would have to give a plate to the other treasures if i gave one to Chien-pao because they are all on the same power level so Glastrier is the only option here
Fist plate: Cobalion i think I have evidence for it first. Why Cobalion and not the other swords of justice? Because simply that Cobalion is the leader of the swords of justice but why the swords of justice? Because they are the swords of well justice and fighting is the opposite of dark and dark could also mean evil as it was originally intended to be called the “evil” type instead of the “dark” type and since the swords of justice’s entire theme is justice and while they are swords which makes them seem like they are supposed to be steel types not fighting types one of the 2 things that the fighting type represents is stuff like martial arts taekwondo and other things and their swords are physically part of their bodies which makes their technique and swordsmanship physical prowess which makes it fighting and that after many years they grew to hate humans because they seemed like they were threats which fits the other thing that the fighting type represents Brute force so they are great representatives of the fighting type and while its not a signature move anymore these 4 used to have a fighting type damaging move that only they could learn being Sacred Sword and yeah its not a signature move anymore as more and more pokemon came ot learn it it used to be their signature move and i think that all these other pokemon can only learn it because they were inspired by the swords of justice
Toxic plate: Pecharunt now i have not played the Epilogue of scarlet or violet but i can tell from the little things i know about it that the answer is clearly Pecharunt because Pecharunt’s Chains are the Toxic chains just like the Toxic plate Pecharunt also has a damaging Signature poison type move and if im remembering correctly in the name of the move there is “Toxic” just like again the Toxic plate and i think that it has a guaranteed or high chance or something to poison that poison’s status condition and perhaps the best reason of all is that Pecharunt’s chains made the “loyal” 3 poison typed and when that happened the “loyal” 3 were extremely Toxic animals not only that their shared signature ability Toxic chain not only has “Toxic” in it yet again just like the Toxic plate but it can also poison which is poison’s status condition even though i dont know much of Pecharunt’s lore i do know that Pecharunt is definitely the most Toxic of all the legendary or mythical pokemon
Earth plate: Primal Groudon just like with Kyogre and the Splash plate why wouldnt Groudon have the Earth plate? But seriously Kyogre and Groudon are supposed to be equal levels in power to make it so that Groudon vs kyogre is an equal fight that could never truly end and if Kyogre had a plate and Groudon didn't then it would be a lot more of a one sided fight so Groudon should also have a plate and while yes Primal Groudon is ground fire not pure ground however the fire type does help it a lot as well base form Groudon is pure ground and when you add the fire typing it resists 2 of the types ground was weak to grass and ice and well it does have a quad weakness to water because of it desolate land makes it immune to water which makes it have no weaknesses (except for Ground but its extremely difficult to exploit that weakness) and also it is fire because of magma and magma creates more land and more land means more ground so the addition of the fire typing to Groudon helps it out a lot as i can see it and this is well just like Kyogre is the god of the sea Groudon is the god of the land also you cant spell “Groudon” without “groud” and “groud” is one letter away from “ground” meaning it almost has “ground” in its very name so Groudon is absolutely a excellent representative of the ground type and also it has a signature move that is ground type and is quite damaging with Precipise Blades and Groudon is also a box art legendary and is a one of a kind pokemon and Primal Groudon was one of the pokemon on the big 6 the strongest pokemon team ever so that is why i think that if someone could be able to utilize the Earth Plate is definitely Primal Groudon
Sky plate: Mega Rayquaza to finish the hoenn weather trio as just like how Groudon and Kyogre have the Splash plate and the Earth plate respectively Rayquaza should have the Sky Plate as Rayquaza’s canonical job is to stop Groudon and Kyogre’s fighting and if they have plates Rayquaza should too and Rayquaza also is the god of the skies and Mega Rayquaza is also one of the strongest pokemon altogether its signature move is a flying type move that is also really strong and Mega Rayquaza’s signature ability is the best for flying types as it turns off weaknesses for all flying types so i think those are the simple reasons that Rayquaza is the best pokemon to be utilizing the Sky Plate
Mind plate: Mega Mewtwo Y I've given it a lot of thought and I've finally settled on Mega Mewtwo Y ive thought about Azelf Uxie and Mesprit but they are all the same amount of power and are all equally as important and i just dont like having them as the answer but Mega Mewtwo Y is stronger than any one of the lake trio and mew well what about Mega Mewtwo X? Well Mega Mewtwo X is a lot more of a rage monster than Mega Mewtwo Y which is not exactly a good choice for the Mind plate and Mega Mewtwo X is a psychic fighting type and fighting is the opposite of psychic as the fighting type represents sheer brute force wether-as Mega Mewtwo Y is a pure psychic type which is why Mega Mewtwo Y is my choice over the lake trio or mew or especially Mega Mewtwo X
Insect plate: Alder’s Volcarona remember how i said about how it can be a champion’s Ace pokemon? Well i didnt say that for nothing i said that for this alright i want to clear something up that other than Alder’s Volcarona the only other option is genesect and i will now be saying why i do not choose genesect and its not because of the type Bug and steel are a great type combo it making genesect only have 1 weakness a weakness to fire albeit that its a 4 times weakness but the main reason is that well genesect is a mechanical bug shaped mythical it just doesn't really scream “bug” other than the face and the ends of its arms or the theory that genesect is likely made from a bug type kabutops well the main reason is the signature move techno blast is not a bug type move at all it can be several types being if i remember correctly normal ice fire electric or water and none of those types are bug or even steel so genesect cant get stab boosted on its own signature move so that makes it not a very good representative of the bug type in my opinion Alder’s Volcarona is the only other bug type choice because i mentioned that it could be a champion’s Ace pokemon and Alder’s Volcarona while it doesnt have a bug type signature move it has quiver dance which is almost a signature move and while it is not a damaging move it powers up its other bug type move bug buzz which is not even close to a signature move but still and Volcarona as a whole is very strong and with the way its sometimes presented it could and in those times is mistaken by some people to be a legendary pokemon and i think that is enough evidence for the right answer to this being Alder’s Volcarona do you agree?
Stone plate: Mega Diancie is my choice because diamonds are basically an extreme form of rocks they are minerals which does make them rocks but diamonds are harder than even the hardest steel being one of if not the hardest natural material if im remembering correctly and while it doesnt say it necessarily Diancie is the god of diamonds plus the Diancite is a stone itself and that is what Diancie needs to mega evolve and another big piece of evidence for Diancie being the ideal choice for the holder of the stone plate is that Diancie herself is mostly made of diamond and diamonds are a strong mineral and minerals like diamonds are gemstones gemstones which is perhaps the biggest reason that Mega Diancie is an excellent representative of the rock typing and she also has a damaging signature move that is rock type all the more reason that Mega Diancie is the absolute best choice for utilizing the stone plate
Spooky plate: Origin Giratina is the one i think is correct as Giratina is not only one of the creation trio perhaps the second most powerful pokemon of all time strong enough to rebel against arceus himself and worked with volo to retrieve all of arceus’s plates at one point ruler of the distortion world which is basically the pokemon version of hell which is spooky just like the Spooky plate and a very ghost like dimension as a whole also being quite literally where ghosts go because its hell and the god of antimatter but also has a damaging ghost type signature move its very very clear that Origin Giratina is clearly the one that would utilize the spooky plate also Giratina steal the spooky plate if he could
Draco plate: Complete Kyurem is without a doubt in my mind the right answer here Complete Kyurem is Kyurem fused with its other 2 parts reshiram and zekrom and reshiram zekrom and Kyurem are all dragons and dragon types nd while i do not know a lot of their lore i know its deep and i am not going to look it up because i dont want spoilers for Black 2 or White 2 but i do know that Unova itself has a lot to do with dragons and Complete Kyurem is The original dragon and i think thats a pretty good piece of evidence for it being the wielder of the Draco plate it does not have a damaging dragon type signature move but when we actually officially see Complete Kyurem then i dont think its impossible for it to receive a dragon type signature move maybe in something like a legends-Kyurem or something like that
Dread plate: Mega Darkrai is clearly the best option here Mega Darkrai has “Dark” in his name he is made of darkness while yes its not damaging it does have a dark type signature move that has “dark” in the move of that move and Darkrai is the god of nightmares and Nightmares usually have Darkness in them and other times in nightmares there is monsters or murderers which are Evil and the Dark type could also very much represent Evil i mean before they settled on the Dark type for a name they originally wanted to call it the “Evil” type and because Darkrai is the god of nightmares the sinnoh citizens Dread Darkrai’s arrival Dread just like the Dread plate but its time to clear somethings up the reason for why Darkrai gets a plate but cresselia does not is because cresselia is a legendary but Darkrai is a mythical and cresselia there is more than one of them as there is multiples in the battle frontier however as far as i can remember there is only 1 Darkrai and also Darkrai got a mega and Cresselia didnt
Iron plate: Crowned Zacian it took quite a lot of thought though you might think i would say dialga and i did consider dialga but dialga doesnt have a steel type signature move but a dragon type signature move making it more dragon than steel but i think that Crowned Zacian is more steel than dialga because Crowned Zacian not only has a steel type signature move but also she doesn't just wear metal i also think she is a good representative of the steel type because of an iron will type of thing and yes Crowned Zacian gains the steel type and normal Zacian is pure fairy but steel and fairy are likely the best combination of types as fairy resists the fighting type moves steel is weak to making it neutral and steel resists the steel type moves that fairy is weak to make it neutral and steel is immune to the poison type moves that fairy is weak to making it an immunity so they have some really synergy together so a steel type being a fairy type in this context is completely justified and its not just the will of iron that makes Zacian a steel type it also has physical steel armor and a steel sword so i think while not the best is a mighty fine representative of the steel type and it also has a damaging a very damaging one at that steel type signature move so thats a plus but you might be wondering how fair it is that Zacian gets a plate but Zamazenta does not well thats because actually that Zacian might be more important if only slightly than Zamazenta for the slight detail that Zacian is “sometimes called Zamazenta’s older sister” also they are both Steel type and the fact that they are brother-sister means that if Zacian got the Iron plate then Zacian would find some way to share the plate with Zamazenta so that is why i think that Zacian would be the best wielder of the Iron plate and also having the Iron plate would make Zacian a whole lot stronger meaning that if Eternatus ever comes back then Zacian and Zamazenta would be better than ever at stopping Eternatus meaning that Galar and the whole world for that matter would be safer
Pixie plate: Tapu Fini okay ive thought about it quite a lot but this is my conclusion because i first thought Xerneas but then i would have to give a plate to yveltal and since yveltal has a flying type signature move it would have to be the sky plate and rayquaza is without a shadow of a doubt an exponentially better choice for the sky plate then i thought about Mega floette but i think that Mega floette having the Pixie plate would supercharge it enough to be Hyperrouge Ange Floette again and not only would that be bad but it also means that Mega Zygarde and maybe xerneas yveltal or both would come in and stop the region from being destroyed and that would make floette lose the plate so i dont think that floette would be the right answer here so what is my answer? Tapu Fini why Tapu Fini though? Why not Tapu Koko who seems more important than the other tapus? Why not Tapu Lele who is fairy psychic and that psychic is the most fairy-like type that is not fairy? Why not Tapu Bulu who… i cant think of a reason for Tapu Bulu but anyways i say Tapu Fini over the other Tapus for 2 main reasons the first reason is that Tapu Fini’s ability sets up the misty terrain which is a benefit for fairy types and the second reason is that the Trial captain of pony island which is the island that Tapu Fini is the deity of is the Fairy type specialist of alola but if any of the Tapus got it Tapu Fini included they would have a gathering at the altar of the sun or the altar of the moon and find a way to share it and the Tapu’s all have a signature move that is damaging and is fairy type that they all share being Nature’s madness which cannot KO an opponent but still and their shared signature Z-move is a fairy type attack regardless of which Tapu uses it so they definitely have the mainly fairy type down so i say Tapu Fini and there is a bit of evidence that makes her a slightly better answer than any of the other 3 Tapus but it kinda just means all of the Tapus but i think thats fine
