Incision and drainage recovery question

Hi everyone,

I have had pilonidal cyst flares on and off for several years, but i always was able to get them to go away on their own or via antibiotics. Until this most recent one. The pain was so bad I went to the ER, and I ended up getting the abscess drained. They cleaned it out and left it open (no stitches or packing) and they sent me on my way. They didn’t give me much instructions beside wash the area twice a day with antibacterial soap and take antibiotics. It’s been about two days and I feel ok, and plan to follow up with my doctor. But I’m wondering if there is anything else I should be doing or not do during recovery? I don’t want to accidentally make the wound worse. I’ve been laying on my side and avoiding sitting as much as possible. It sucks because both my jobs include prolonged sitting and heavy lifting, so I want this to heal as quickly as possible. Thanks!
