Pulse Oxymeter and Sleep detection bugs, here we are

I’ve spotted the first bug hours after buying my Cirqa.

If you setup your pulse oximeter to when you sleep and you setup your sleeping hours between a range (like 22h to 6h) and you are not sleeping, it will nevertheless try to measure your oxygen no matter if you’re awake or not.

I was having dinner like 30 mins ago and you could see its red light trying to measure oxygen.

Connect+ isn’t worth it.

Like, its AI does not provide valuable feedback.

I ran 15K and the walked 600 metres. It gives me feedback about the walk.

For me it does not make sense first the time it takes to give feedback. When you open the app, it takes more than a few seconds to give you feedback on the activity. And most of the time I end losing my patience and simply closing the app.

And in my case the feedback is only about the latest activity. Is there a way to see per-activity feedback?

I also use Strava, and whilst not perfect the feedback it gives is per activity. Not incredibly good but at the very least it is useful.

Maintaining Peaking Productive

I’m currently training for a half marathon in the upcoming months.

When I bought my Garmin watch I did great with the Garmin Run Coach. On the positive side it helped me to better structure my training.

But I simply shuffled towards having one or two quality sessions plus base plus recovery plus long runs.

Simple right? I can feel my fitness improving and me slowly getting faster. Just this week I ran my fastest 1K during a training and did a 10K race in 53 mins, cutting my last year time by 10 whole minutes.

But my question regarding the training itself is, if I follow Garmin DSW every time I get “maintaining”, but if I setup a GRC plan and follow it, even though the plans are very conservative, I tend to get the “Productive” message.

Is this a rigged game? 😂

Race day bug

I ran today the Saucony London 10K. It is in the calendar for today and pretty much everything went great besides the watch not liking me running 10.18k instead of 10K.

I might just need to push people out of my way for my Garmin to get the right distance.

Jokes aside, my evening report now looks like this.

Saucony Azura 174 kms opinion

Maybe it’s the way I’m running or maybe some tripping here and there. I’m using custom made insoles. Do these look like normal wear?

It just feels a bit weird the foam isn’t coloured but rather painted.

From my point of view my Azura’s are a kind of workhorse, but significantly slower than Superblast 3.

But the foam, it does feel exactly like the first day, which speaks volumes for this “cheap” hobby of running.

Wish I had more time to sleep

I still think it’s a solid score for just a bit more than 5 hours sleep time.

Openrun Pro 2 quality

Hey!

I currently own a OpenRun headphones. I love them and they’re great. I also have one of those with a mic for work.

But after 2.5 years the multifunction button failed, and I do use it a lot.

I tried the Suunto Wing 2 and honestly, the fit wasn’t great for me.

Because now it’s prime day I’ve bought two new headsets. One OpenRun (USBC) and one OpenRun Pro 2

I’ll try the Pro 2 to check the fit and if I like them I’ll return the normal ones.

My question is about quality. Has anyone used this or the previous version for a long period of time? How are they faring?

Tattoos and optical HR sensor

Hi!

I’ve got a mate at work who has an AWU. His arm is fully tattooed and he told me the watch is quite useless for him as the HR sensor can’t detect BPMs properly because of his tattoos.

Does the same happens to anyone with Garmin’s optical HR sensors?

Don’t train

Simple, lay down on a couch and sleep. What Garmin does know (I trained in each location) is that low HRV is due to tiredness from travelling to several places the same week.

How close are the Azura to the Superblast 3?

So, I was first between different shoes, and I guess simply because I did not find any Megablast I went for the Superblast 3.

I also recently bought a Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 and these were great.

My major challenge comes with the SB3 as after 90 kms I still get some discomfort with my calf, specifically in the soleus

It’s not the first shoe that causes me some discomfort, like the nimbus 25, but definitely the first one in that specific muscle.

My question is, how similar o dissimilar are the SB3 to the Saucony Endorphin Azura?

I’m looking for a daily trainer to put miles on and potentially use it at a marathon at some point. Maybe HM as well.

Any tempo, 5K & 10K race I feel at my current level I’m good with the Speed 5, but I’m missing one work horse for slow training. This was supposedly the place for the SB3 but it seems these don’t match my biomechanics.

My first 5K sub 25

I finally made it. Honestly I didn’t think it would be possible for me to do it.

As background, I’ve been running for like 5 years and most of the time I was wearing the wrong shoes (Nimbus 25, a few pairs). Maybe they were the right ones in the beginning but at some point they started to hold me back.

So a couple of months ago I started by ditching my AW Series 8, with 97% battery health as its battery wouldn’t hold a full day where I’d have 2 or 3 logged activities.

I did get a Fenix 8 and used Garmin Coach to setup a plan for an upcoming 10K I’ve in July.

I also bought some cheapo carbon shoes at LIDL, a discount supermarket, and they were just fine for a few runs and a close mark, but still 25:12.

Like 3 weeks later I decided to run again (it’s a weekly recurring race) but took my new Saucony Speed 5.

But more than the shoes, what benefit me is the Garmin Coach training plan, and how they I’ve adjusted my HR Zones properly based on %LTHR and not %MAXHR, I feel things are starting to feel and flow as they should.

So I tried my luck today to see how I’d perform, and I finally got a sub 25 mark in my 5k

I bought my watch on April 4th and the big day just happened today.

Jokes apart, I’ve always had good rest during most of my life.
