Well, my most embarrassing moment happened just yesterday when I learned a lesson the hard way.
I was in my Legate, leading my flank towards the cap, using an island as cover when a Stalingrad and a Großer Kurfurst appear on the other side. I kept getting closer and when I got in range for my secondaries I hit full steam ahead, smoke, EST and I put myself broadside to use my whole secondary batteries on the left side. “I’ll cook them with my secondaries undetected!”
Well…
That was the moment I discovered that Stalingrad has a radar.
The curtain falls.

I was going through the Gonzaga stats when I noticed that it is advertised with a 10.8 km detectability range, but the in-game stats show a 11.3 km range instead.
What’s the correct one?
I’m attaching screenshots from the game and the patch notes from the official website.
EDIT: I haven’t unlocked the ship yet, so those are the base stats without any modifier whatsoever.
Sometimes I feel like all the grinding and the work put on being better at the game is worthless.
About the match: I’m running the Napoli with a secondaries build (16/3 Di Revel + Hipper + Geisler). Blue team has only one destroyer that spawned on the left flank while I was on the right. I was the spotter on my flank (2 detected), I actively fought to capture my area (1 assisted in capture) and to avoid the red team capturing the center area (3 defended). After getting rid of the enemies at the center, I managed to land some shots both with main and secondaries at the last ship on the left flank.
It was a good match, I felt useful to the team and I think the number backed me up as I did a decent amount of damage (100k) and ranked 4th in my team with 2216 xp… and yet ended up losing 51k silver, without premium; with premium I would’ve only gained 25k.
I know, it’s always been like this, but this time it hit me - I don’t even really know why.
Sorry for the rant.

Ok, for the first time in my life I’ve spent real money over an in-game content as I wanted to get an Azure Lane commander for a long time and since I’m an avid Italian cruisers player I decided to get AL Zara.
Now, about PROMOTING her… well that’s gonna be another topic. I jut managed to get her to 11/2, so I guess I’m not that big of a whale lol.
And, since I have Napoli, the urge to also get AL Vittorio Veneto is real!

I had never tried to put a guise on an AL commander, but I have noticed that when I try to do so there’s a difference in the list of guises I can select, even within the same nationality. Is this normal?
I don’t really know what to say, it definitely feels like being stolen something and even mocked after that.
I wasn't a lot satisfied with how the match started, I took a couple of extra hits I shouldn't have taken and that made me extra cautious in the middle of the battle.
At the end, I decided to take a risk focusing that full-health Mecklenburg, thinking that the nearby G. Kurfurst would've supported me... but somehow she decided to just leave me after one single, yet good, salvo.
Well... in the end I'm glad they did because this turned out to be my best match in the Venezia so far, on account of both XP and damage.
I love the agility and firepower of this ship!
For those interested, I'm running her with a 16/4 Mimbelli on full agility skills + 16/2 AL Tallin and 16/2 Scott.
Someone PLEASE can explain me the train of thoughts that leads to give sailing in a funny camo 5x the value of getting a premium ship, because I really can’t wrap my head around this.

IIRC last or a couple of updates ago max I had read that a change in the modules damage mechanics would’ve been made to the gameplay, but is it still undergoing?
I see that secondary modules are still being permanently destroyed so I’m asking myself whether this is a bug or nothing has changed yet.

After completing the Italian cruisers + Venezia and almost getting there with the battleships tech tree + Colombo, it’s time to start playing the destroyers and getting the Attilio Regolo bureau.
I am a cruiser main and I LOVE playing with Amalfi and Venezia (I would love Brindisi too, but if I constantly have to face LT ships then I just go with an LT directly). Sometimes I like battleships too, it’s not happening very often but at least I’ve had enough games to know how to play them and what are the pros and cons of Iachino and Di Revell.
But destroyers? I never played them to the point that I only got the 100 standard DD matches trophy after 6 years, and getting the Tashkent ‘39 as a gift from WG was a great incentive to that.
Now that I’m done with this text wall prologue, my question is fairly simple:
Am I right to say that the Italian DD are mainly to hunt other DDs but they are not entirely gunboats? How about their ability to stay stealthy and cap/spot? What’s the best style to adopt when playing an Italian DD?
There are three commanders: Rizzo, Cigala Fulgosi and Bergamini. Judging by their skills it looks like Bergamini is a torpedo boat commander, meaning that if I’m right about the role of Italian DDs, he’s out of the picture. This leaves me with Rizzo and Cigala Fulgosi that I have both at 11/1.
Am I right to say that Rizzo is a gunboat commander and Cigala Fulgosi is somehow a mix between the other two? Who’s best to go with it and what are the preferred skills and inspirations to use? I only have f2p commanders (and Robin LeFierce that I dropped some time ago).
Last thing: please, don’t tell me to go and play other lines. I know they are easier, but it’s just a fixation of mine: I want to complete the whole Italian tech trees and be able to play with all of them.

This is my first experience in wood carving, I took a cheap set on Amazon and started to work on one of the provided basswood blocks.
It took me three or four days to get to this point, several hours per day. The hardest part was deciding how to proceed! I have drawn the outlines on the four sides and carved on the left and right first, then I realized I had been carving away the drawings and that’s when things slowed down!
I drew one side again only and proceeded to carve until I got this… now it’s time to take out the detailing knives and adjust the shapes.

I’ve tried chipping with the hairspray method, but I don’t really like the results.
I had sealed the base with a Vallejo clear coat (more than 24h ago), then I sprayed the hairspray and almost immediately the white coat with Tamiya XF2.
After that I used three different brushes with tap water, but I encountered this two problems:
1 - chipping away the white paint created a sort of “mud” that lowered down the contrast between the white (that turned greyish) and the olive drab
2 - sometimes the white paint “peeled” away instead of just chipping.
Maybe the culprit is the Vallejo clear coat that is water based? What do you think of the general effect?

It took me a broken ankle to get back to work on my Sherman since my last post (from an account I deleted, sadly), so I wanted to give you some update!
Here’s what I did these last couple of days:
- airbrushed a black preshading
- Tamiya Olive Drab base coat
- pin washes… kinda, because I wanted to use oils but I messed up so I ended up using watercolors which turned out being kind of a post shading but whatever
- highlights with OD + couple drops of Tamiya Buff
- some other OD + Buff (almost 1:1) followed by soft vertical brush hits with solvent only to give a first layer of weathering
- some chipping with just black acrylic and a fine brush.
The chipping is not done yet, and I may have gone a little overboard in some areas.
I’ll take the plaster cast off next week so there’s a chance I will finish this by then… stay tuned! :)
