Over 150,000 acres of Pisgah and Nantahala could lose federal protection—here’s how to object - Easy, File a Complaint Here - Sept 21 DEADLINE

Helene hurt our beautiful mountains, lets not sacrifice more!

The federal government is proposing to repeal the Roadless Rule, which protects more than 150,000 acres in Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests—including places like South Mills River, Laurel Mountain and the Black Mountains.

Public comments are open only until September 21. This isn’t just a petition: comments become part of the official record and can matter in later legal challenges.

Submit yours here:
https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/FS-2025-0001-223869

You can write something as simple as:

“I live in Western North Carolina and oppose rescinding the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule. Please select the No Action alternative and retain the rule. Pisgah and Nantahala’s roadless areas protect clean water, wildlife, mature forests, recreation and our local tourism economy. The current rule already allows necessary work addressing wildfire, disease and public safety. New roads would fragment habitat, increase erosion and create additional maintenance costs. Please keep these protections in place.”

Add a sentence about a local forest or trail you personally value—it helps make your comment distinct. MAKE IT PERSONAL. PLEASE ACT.

Docket: FS-2025-0001 / RIN 0596-AD66

170k combined income. Bought a fixer upper with plans to rent out original condo. Now partner wants to buy a 500k property and rent out fixer upper and condo.

The property is worth a million bucks easily, we would offer 500k and rent out the other two properties. We’ve run the numbers and we COULD do it, but I’m still not sure if I should. It could be a great opportunity, but I’ve never considered buying to $500k property before, especially in this market.

Should I take the risk?

Does this tree need to come down?

Tree is next to the house. Wanted to keep, but not if I risk the home.

There does not appear to be any dead limbs in the canopy, but the hole in the bottom is about the size of a soccer ball which is significantly less than the diameter of the tree.

Why is my local government supporting Israel?

Government contracts will not support any business boycotting Israel. Seems fishy to me.
