Well. It happened.

Got a sports massage and two days later went to deadlift.
Deload week. Warmup weight. First set, no problem. Second set, felt a little twinge.
"OK, feels a little weird but not bad, I'll just really make sure I brace and have my form right"
You can probably guess what happened next. On warmup weight. On a deload week. Feelsbadman.
After being unable to tie my shoes for 30 minutes I got home and started recovery.

Giving it time to heal but now I'm mentally going to be wary of starting to deadlift again. "What if it happens again on my first warmup rep?"

Any recommendations on how to start up again without risking another fuckup on the first rep?

Welp, guess it's about that time.

LDL and total had been slightly high on my last panel but I wasnt too concerned since I was bulking. I lost 40lbn and got LDL in target a few months ago. However, as you can see my recent full panel is very concerning, especially with the Lp(a) result (I wish I got this tested years ago).

What's next? My GP lightly suggested a CAC CT my last physical. It was something for me to do eventually but with these results I'm getting one ASAP.

I'm also going to ask him to refer me for Repatha. Seems like the best thing out there currently to lower Lp(a) as well as crushing LDL.

Anything else I should know or do?

Vitamin D Correction Questions

Hey all, my D level got tested insufficient (27ng/mL) so I'm going to start supplementing.

From what I found, 50-60 should be a good range.

I'm going to be supplementing 10,000 IU daily for 2-3 months then retest.

Questions:
-I used a calculator and this showed 10k IU daily should get me to 60. Of course, once I hit that, I'm going to want to ease back to a lower dose. However, at 5K IU, the calculator showed this would only maintain a level of 40 ng/mL, lower than my target. Is this correct?
-Even at 5K I see literature recommending 4K as the upper limit for perpetual daily dosing.

Can someone clarify on the above or show guidance that can clear this up?

That's a Big Boy!

More content for youse. Happy to finally catch it after missing it yesterday. 2.5 hour wait, thunderstorms, and rain today but a lucky break in the mess.

Big Boy shut down early.

If you're still thinking about coming down, don't. They shut it down early due to too many people passing out from the heat.

Depth?

Depth had been my problem for a long time but I've actively been trying to go lower than parallel so there's no ambiguity if I ever compete. It looks like I hit parallel here but I'm not sure. It feels like I'm as low as my legs will allow (I have to "force" the last inches). Any tips for getting lower? Or am I good?

Supplements or anything else for Histamine/Glutamate/GABA-ergic sensitivities?

Hi all,
I have ADHD (diagnosed), autism (undiagnosed but highly likely), and trichotillomania (diagnosed). From research, all affect or are exacerbated by histamine, glutamate, and GABA pathway dysfunction. I also have MTHFR mutation. Lots of supplements have the opposite effect for me.

Lots of supplements tried over the years for general brain function and health. I've found that I'm extremely sensitive negatively to supplements that act on GABA-ergic pathways and serotonin.

Negative effects:
-Ashwagandha (KSM-66) worked decently for a while for stress but now makes me irritated and more stressed (yes, i've cycled this)
-L-theanine either does nothing or makes me extremely distant and depersonalized
-Rhodiola makes me EXTREMELY depressed (probably strongest negative experience of any supplement I've taken)
-Magnesium glycinate (intense sleep hangover effect)
-NAC, tried this way back for trich but made me more anxious. havent experimented with it further.

Positive effects:
-Black maca (works for energy)
-Tart cherry powder (helps me fall/stay asleep)
-Sulbutiamine (good for focus when needed, i lose track of time in a good way)
-and of course the basics (water, creatine, lifting heavy, omega supplement, vitamin D/sun)

Has anyone else in a similar situation found anything else that really works for them with positive effects or at least no negatives either for mental effects or general health?

Showroom discounts? Haggling?

Hey all, I'm pretty settled on a Haworth Fern. Luckily there's a showroom right across the street from my office. Does anyone have any idea showrooms like these do individual sales to consumers and if discounts or haggling are on the table at places like these or should I just buy online or hold out for a used/refurb?

Hard time gauging maintenance?

Hi all, I accidentally wasn't tracking my cooking oil usage on my bulk so gained weight faster than I wanted. However, I usually weigh myself multiple times a week and was hoping to catch if I was bulking too fast. However, my weight seemed steady for a couple weeks, then jumped up by 3 pounds over the course of a couple days which repeated. The lower measurements seemed to be increasing at a slow pace so I figured I was on track for a slow bulk and kept my calories the same but the pattern kept repeating and eventually hit my bulk goal too fast. I know where I went wrong this time but wondering if anyone experienced this and best way to know I'm truly overshooting since everything looked flat until those big jumps.
