Ćaos ljudi!

Uskoro idem da posetim baku i deku na selu. Oni su nedavno isključili kućni internet, stari su pa ih ne zanima. Ja nažalost moram da radim sa njihove lokacije - nisam na odmoru, uspela sam da izvučem remote rad na nedelju dana kako bismo se videli.

Uglavnom, imam mobilni paket sa 50 GB, ali mi je hotspot na telefonu prilično ograničen, pa nije baš praktično da "pržim" bateriju telefona višesatnim deljenjem neta.

Suštinski, mogla bih da izvadim SIM karticu iz telefona i ubacim je u neki USB modem dok radim, kako bih imala stabilan net na laptopu. Gubitak signala za pozive i poruke na telefonu mi nije nikakav problem, pošto sve već završavam preko WhatsApp-a (koji mi je instaliran na laptopu).

Inače, ove USB stikove godinama ne viđam u prodaji, zanima me šta je danas aktuelno i pouzdano? Ako je neko skoro prolazio kroz ovo, pliz preporučite konkretan model koji provereno radi i gde može da se nabavi kod nas (bilo radnje, bilo KupujemProdajem).

Što se korišćenja tiče - pošto se uopšte ne razumem u ove uređaje, zanima me kako izgleda samo pokretanje neta.

Da li laptop sam prepozna modem i sve radi po principu „utakni u laptop i surfuj“ ili moram da jurim drajver itd? Da li su ti modemi univerzalni / kompatibilni sa Chromebook-om, ili moram da tražim specifičan model u zavisnosti od toga koji operativni sistem koristi taj laptop?

Iskreno, nisam bila sigurna gde tačno da postavim ovo pitanje, ali kapiram da ću najkonstruktivniji savet dobiti upravo ovde. Stalno lurkujem na subu i, iako mi tehnologija nije jača strana, naučila sam brdo korisnih stvari samo čitajući vaše komentare. Hvala unapred!

Hey everyone.

My sister is in uni and 2 months ago she started a live-chat customer support role to pay her bills. She genuinely wants to do a good job and actually cares about helping people, but she is already hitting a massive wall with toxic customers and their demands. The company is a small startup that’s pretty agile, but they have to deal with an absurd number of absolute lunatics.

As a newbie, she is completely overwhelmed and I’m looking for some solid advice or coping strategies I can pass on to her.

Specifically, she’s struggling with customers throwing absolute tantrums and demanding refunds for things the system physically won't allow her to process. More often than not, these unique situations require evaluation and approval from upper management to get anything done.

The biggest problem is that being kind, apologizing, and reassuring them that she’s doing all she can gets her absolutely nowhere. They get aggressive, call her names, and make threats.

For context, here is a mock conversation illustrating the dynamic:

• Her: "I really want to help you out with this, so I’ve passed your request along to ___ to check if an exception is possible. Thank you kindly for your time and patience during this process."
• Them: "I don't give a f*** about this. I want my money NOW"

Escalation can back up for hours depending on the case and who needs to chime in. While you're trying to help someone who is actually nice and understanding, these toxic customers will pop back up and spam 10 new messages into the chat. It blows up your queue, destroys your metrics, and causes you to lose track of the actual nice customers who need real help.

For every 10 normal interactions an hour, there is always one customer who lacks basic decency, ranging from mildly annoying to unbearably rude. Some are capable of spamming her for 5+ hours straight and wrecking her entire shift.

By the time she clocks out, her inbox is a flooded mess, and it just feels awful for her to realize how many decent customers she let down because she couldn't get away from that nightmare.

No matter how you look at it, she just has to endure customers who are profoundly offended to discover she doesn't have the divine right to instantly PayPal them (any or) whatever amount they want, and who lose their minds over any other solution.

Quitting isn't an option right now because she needs this income for school. She loves the core of her job. She wants to keep doing it because she’s always been great with people, and the good interactions make it ABSOLUTELY worth it. Still, it’s been a tough realization for her that some customers are just fundamentally unreasonable. Some human beings operate entirely outside the realm of logic.

How do you veterans deal with the constant spam and sheer aggression without losing your mind? How do you keep these people from ruining your day... and the days of the normal folks in your inbox who actually need and deserve your attention and focus?

Any scripts, mental tricks, or workflow hacks would be deeply appreciated.

Hi everyone! I’m heading to Greece early next week for a 7 day vacation with my mom. I actually travel to Greece quite often... at least once a year. My parents have close family friends on one of the islands, and overall, it’s a country that is incredibly close to my heart.

This time, it’s just a short trip for my mom and me. I work freelance, which means my livelihood literally depends on having a stable internet connection. Because of this, I immediately got in touch with the accommodation host before booking to double-check the Wi-Fi situation. The guy swore up and down a million times that the internet was amazing, super stable, and that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. So, I paid for the place, sorted the transport, and thought the matter was closed.

Today, by pure and absolute luck, I found out this guy was straight-up lying. I happened to log into a local Facebook group (and mind you, I haven't used Facebook in years) just to check some general travel info and prices. Out of nowhere, the algorithm threw a post from last year into my feed about this exact town. Out of sheer boredom, I opened the comments, and people were absolutely destroying this accommodation over the Wi-Fi. The standard story, 50 people trying to connect to one miserable router. Most reviews said that out of a 10-day stay, they barely had internet for 1-2 days.

If I hadn’t accidentally found out today, I would have gone there, lost signal, and probably lost my job on day one!

Since I absolutely need a good internet connection for my laptop, my only real option now (I assume?) is a mobile hotspot. I could really use some advice on a few things:

• Which Greek carrier has the strongest 4G/5G signal outside major cities? (Cosmote, Vodafone, or Nova?)
• Do they offer a tourist SIM package with unlimited data for a week?
• Where is the best place to buy a physical SIM card? I don't have eSIM support. I’m staying in a pretty small town, and I highly doubt I’ll find a SIM card at the local grocery store. Is it possible to buy and register one at a major gas station right after crossing the border, or do I need to find an official carrier store in a larger town along the way?

Canceling this trip isn't really an option. I planned this with my mom, who hasn't been able to take a proper vacation in forever because of her job. This is the only window of time we both have, and the money has already been paid.

Just to be clear, I’m talking about a single isolated incident here, not my general experience with Greece. It’s one of the few places in the world where I feel completely at home, and I’ve been visiting for nearly two decades (both on my own and staying with those family friends, though they live on the complete opposite side of the country).

The problem is… we both have braces.

After several recording attempts, we realized metal wires (and misaligned teeth) are not exactly ideal for close-up articulation shots.. 😞 They are simply too visually distracting during detailed pronunciation demonstrations, where you really need the viewer's focus strictly on tongue and lip placement.

So honestly, we’re looking for someone willing to volunteer for the visual articulation part.

We just need someone with 5-10 minutes and a phone/camera to record ONLY their mouth (no face, completely anonymous) while pronouncing around 30 sounds.

Your native language doesn't matter, and you don’t even need to make a sound (you only need to mimic the mouth movements) because we already have the audio recorded. We only need the visual mouth / lip positioning for the sounds. We will provide full instructions beforehand and share the result with the voice-over.

We’re doing this entire project ourselves with basically no budget, so unfortunately we can’t offer any payment. However, we’d be incredibly grateful if anyone is interested in volunteering to help two students out. Thank you so much in advance 🩷

I realized the post could use some more details, so I wanted to clarify a few things.This isn’t a uni assignment for my friend and me. My friend and I are about to graduate, and we've been working on this course for over a year completely independently while unemployed. We're from a smaller country where the job market is kind of a mess right now, so we decided to start our little course to hopefully make a bit of money and support ourselves until we find something more stable.

Because we are funding this out of pocket with no budget, we unfortunately can't offer financial payment. That’s why we’re looking for a volunteer, and we totally get it if that’s a dealbreaker for someone. We’d love to include whoever helps us in our 'special thanks' section, if they're down for that.

Pre par dana sam se videla sa drugaricom koja od skoro radi u jednoj školi. Pričale smo o testovima koje mora da pregleda preko vikenda i primetila sam odmah da nešto nije u redu... bukvalno je delovala kao da će svakog trenutka da zaplače.

Posle par minuta povuci-potegni, poverila mi se da u odeljenjima u kojima predaje ima po 4-5 učenika koji su tu po nekom specijalnom programu inkluzije. Među njima je i jedna devojčica sa kojom se baš povezala, ono uvek nasmejano, pozitivno dete. S obzirom na to da predaje jedan od lakših predmeta, ima zaista lep odnos sa decom, pa je naravno cela situacija pogađa i na ličnom nivou.

Ukratko, problem je sledeći - ima dosta dece koja uopšte ne uspevaju da isprate program jer im nije dovoljno prilagođen. Situacija je krajnje tužna, jer ona suštinski mora da im daje dobre ocene kako bi mogli da nastave školovanje. Nije uopšte stvar upisivanja broja na papiru masilom, ona nešto ovako banalno ne dovodi u pitanje. Samo je teško kada ostaneš sam sa sobom i gledaš u prazne listove koje moraš da "oceniš"... i znaš da na taj način nekome nanosiš više štete, umesto koristi.

Tokom časova izvlači maksimum, individualno ih ocenjuje prema ličnim mogućnostima, nagrađuje aktivnost, bilo kakve minimalne pomake… ali i sama zna da ta deca ne ostvaruju svoj potencijal, ne zato što ne žele, već zato što taj sistem u praksi prosto ne funkcioniše. Jako je potresena jer vidi da uprkos trudu, ostaju na margini.

Inkluzija je dobra ideja na papiru, ali te u praksi neke stvari bespovratno unište psihički. Posebno jer pričamo o osetljivom uzrastu gde slušaš konstantno prebacivanje jer je Stefan dobio 4 zato što je uspeo nešto, bilo šta, da kaže, klimne glavom, prepozna gradivo... a Petar 3, jer nije znao celu definiciju ćelijske membrane. Svađe, suze, pretnje, besni roditelji i vršnjačko nasilje sami dolaze u paketu.

Iskreno, nemam nikakve loše namere, ali kao neko ko je potpuno van svega ovoga... jednostavno me zanima zašto se ovo dešava.

Mene je cela priča prilično dotakla, između ostalog i zato što znam jednu devojčicu iz kraja koja je pre 4-5 godina upisala školu za specijalno obrazovanje. Pravi razlog nikada nisam saznala, ali iskreno - niko ne bi mogao ni da pretpostavi tako nešto. Dete nema nikakvih funkcionalnih problema, definitivno nema posebne potrebe, štaviše deluje neverovatno elokventno i inteligentno, znatno naprednije od vršnjaka. Prvobitno sam mislila da je reč o nekom specijalnom programu za nadarenu decu, a ne o specijalnom obrazovanju (nije).

Slično tome, znam i jednu devojku mojih godina sa kojom sam provodila raspuste (u drugom gradu), družila se 24/7 leti, a tek sam nedavno saznala da je išla u školu za specijalno obrazovanje. Bukvalno mi ni u jednom trenutku tako nešto nije palo na pamet.

Ranije se nisam previše bavila ovakvim stvarima, ali otkad sam videla sa drugaricom iz prosvete, te misli mi se stalno vrte po glavi. Šta je zapravo presudan faktor i kriterijum kada je u pitanju ovakav vid obrazovanja?

Da li je u pitanju strah od stigme (šta će reći komšije), pa roditelji namerno guraju decu u program koji za njih prosto nije adekvatan i nesvesno im nanose štetu?

O kakvim kriterijumima se ovde radi kada dete koje zna da množi trocifrene brojeve ide u specijalnu školu, dok dete sa značajnijim poteškoćama (ne zna da piše, neverbalno) ostaje u klasičnoj nastavi, gde dobija visoke ocene / ocenjuje se po svojim mogućnostima. Razumem nameru (individualno ocenjivanje) ali znamo sve da taj uzrast drugačije tumači pravdu, pa umesto da bude uključeno i napreduje, to dete postaje i meta vršnjačkog nasilja. Svako dete dolazi u školu sa željom da nauči, da stekne drugare, da bude prihvaćeno.

Pišem bez ikakve loše namere, ovo u ove kasne sate, jer me tema iskreno i dalje proganja. Svesna sam da je ovo jedna od onih situacija gde niko nije kriv, a istovremeno su svi krivi... samo se trudim da razumem - šta je uopšte ovde kriterijum, i šta je presudno kada se odlučuje o obrazovanju?

Ako neko iz prosvete može da objasni, bila bih jako zahvalna. Hvala unapred!

Sestra je pre par nedelja dobila priliku da pređe na hibridni rad u trenutnoj firmi i već sutra joj stiže oprema na adresu (laptop firme, slušalice, itd.). Podrazumeva se da će morati da se poveže na našu kućnu mrežu. Ono što je trebalo da bude lepa vest se pretvorilo u blagu paranoju kad smo čuli šta tačno taj laptop sadrži.

Naime, prema iskustvu njene drugarice koja je radila u toj firmi - uređaji imaju više različitih softvera za praćenje aktivnosti i učinka, a kompanija ima konstantan pristup uređaju. Znači keyloggeri, screen capture, praćenje lokacije, pristup kameri / mikrofonu ceo paket. Ozbiljan "vidimo sve što radiš" setup. Svesni smo da firma ima pravo da upravlja svojim uređajem, ali smo kao porodica zabrinuti za bezbednost naše kućne mreže i uopšteno našu privatnost.

Sestra je birala između ovoga i rada u kancelariji. Više joj odgovara hibrid jer joj je kancelarija na drugom kraju grada i neretko potroši po 2 sata u prevozu (tako da ovo deluje kao solidan upgrade).

Nismo IT stručnjaci, pa tražimo konkretne, praktične korake koje možemo učiniti odmah. Šta konkretno možemo učiniti kako bismo zaštitili našu kućnu mrežu i privatnost cele porodice?Hvala unapred na svim tehničkim savetima, preporukama i iskustvima iz prve ruke! 🩷

Promenila sam telefon pre par dana, i budući da je stari poprilično dobro očuvan, odlučila sam da ga dam članu porodice koji trenutno koristi nešto stariji uređaj.

Problem je baterija. Nakon ~4 godine korišćenja, jednostavno više ne drži kao pre. To je normalno, razumem, ali smatram da je to neki minimum koji mogu da uradim pre nego što telefon predam nekome.

Kupila sam originalnu bateriju (koja me je solidno koštala za moj studentski budžet) i krenula u potragu za servisom u mom gradu.

Odem u jedini lokalni servis, objasnim situaciju, pokažem da imam bateriju i da samo treba zamena. Dečko (pretpostavljam vlasnik ili radnik) mi kaže da:

• Telefon moram da ostavim XY dana, iako je odmah izjavio da zamena traje "5 minuta, ali smo sad pretrpani poslom, pa kada nađemo vreme u narednih nedelju-dve".
• Traži minimum 5.000 din.
• Kada je video da sam kupila bateriju, odmah je promenio ton i krenuo sa pričom o tome da će tražiti duplo ako se baterija "ne uklapa" (?!?) jer "zašto sam se ja žensko setila da naručujem nešto za telefon". Nakon toga je pozvao kolegu sa druge strane pulta i doslovno mu rekao kroz smeh: "Brate, vidi šta nam ova donela, haahahah.“

Iskreno, ostala sam bez teksta. Razumem da privatni biznisi moraju da zarade i nemam problem da platim, ali 5.000 dinara za 5 minuta posla (gde ja donosim deo), uz čekanje dvocifren broj dana i ovakvo ponižavanje mušterije... je stvarno previše.

Inače, sama sam menjala delove na svom laptopu (RAM, SSD, kućište tastature), ali za telefon nemam adekvatan alat (fen/grejač za lepak, lepak za vraćanje poklopca) i plašim se da ne oštetim ekran ili flet kabl ako budem radila na silu. U pitanju je Samsung 20 FE, telefon koji vredi stotinak evra, nema smisla ulagati gomilu novca - ali, sa druge strane, ne mogu da ga nekome predam sa naduvenom baterijom koja umire svakih sat vremena.

Znam da na ovom subu ima dosta ljudi sa tehničkih fakulteta (ETF, Višer, PMF...), pa rekoh da pitam: znate li neki manji servis, pouzdanog servisera ili studenta koji bi mi zamenio bateriju za pristojnu cenu? Lokalno nemam opcija, tako da bih telefon svakako donela u BG.
