Anywhere in the city to get donut peaches right now?

I had them once a few weeks ago at the downtown farmer’s market but they only had them for a very brief time. I’m craving them now and regular peaches aren’t stretching the itch. Anywhere they’re still in stock?

Can CBD oil cause it?

I’ve stopped smoking and vaping entirely (so far) but I still have this CBD oil. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on whether this has any chance of causing it? Edibles in general, I guess.

For context, I’ve never had it YET but I got scared by this sub and stopped because sometimes I get stomach discomfort and queasiness when I smoke/vape but just thought it was from taking in too much air when I inhale or something.

CatVideoFest @ the Metro

This was the most fun I’ve had in a LONG time!

I know a lot of people say ‘well why would I pay to go out to the movies for cat videos when I could just see them online for free’, which is valid, but experiencing them alongside a packed theatre full of other cat enthusiasts was a way better time. People oohing and awwing and cheering for the best ones was so much more fun than scrolling TikTok alone in bed.

And the Metro is always a great time (please go support them if you haven’t already), but knowing your ticket for this specific showing is supporting both a local historic cinema and a local cat rescue (SAFE Team Rescue ftw!!) was priceless.

Catch you at CatVideoFest 2027! 🐈

When you go to comment on a thread that’s less than an hour old only to discover that it’s already been locked or deleted by mods

Bonus points if it’s a completely innocuous post and there’s no reason given for the deletion. Heaven forbid you actually want to have a conversation on this app.

Yet another Incidents Around the House post - the most gut wrenching betrayal I’ve ever read

If you’ve read the book, you might remember the paranormal investigator “Daddo” (I know how much we all love that moniker) brought in as a last resort. How he checked all the boxes, said and seemingly did all the right things… how, after this long scary journey of being hunted where I think Malerman did a wonderful job making the reader feel just as exhausted as the family was at that point, we finally think someone is going to be able to help. Grandma and grandma’s friend have both had no choice but to distance themselves from the insanity at this point, the neighbours are certainly keeping their wary distance, and we really feel like time and options are running out.

Then this guy comes on the scene and we’re thinking, finally, we’ll get some relief. And what does this mfer do? “I saw one! I finally saw one!!” and dips without another word. We realize they’ve been duped, betrayed, and it’s such an incredibly gut wrenching way to really drive home the fact that no one can be trusted and the family’s wellbeing will always come second to everyone else’s priorities.

Maybe it’s naive, but it’s been months since I finished it and it keeps coming to mind at random times. It was such a gut punch and I never felt more connected to Bela’s perspective as when this weasel drove off in his fuckoff truck even after seeing how much the family really needed his help. I know a major theme of the entire book is the loss of innocence, but god, what a way at that age to learn the depth of people’s evil when you’re most vulnerable and in need.

I can’t think of a bigger gut punch in a recent horror novel, or any novel, besides maybe the end of Revival. What about you guys?

When they say someone ‘died in their sleep’, is it just a polite euphemism for being found dead in bed or do they literally die while dreaming and feel nothing?

I, like most others, always thought that dying in your sleep sounded like the best way to go, but I’ve always been suspicious that people meant they were just found dead in bed and they don’t know what their final moments were actually like. With the body’s built in survival instincts, I have a hard time believing that they wouldn’t wake up when they felt something going really wrong.

How are we getting over the fact that public pools are super gross?

I used to love swimming pools when I was younger but in my adulthood, I just can’t get over how grossed out I am about public pools. Logically I’m aware that they’re monitored and chemically treated so nothing harmful can really live and they’re not a public health risk or they’d obviously be shut down, but the thought of submerging myself in water that tons of other people are marinating in, PEEING IN, shedding skin cells in, etc. is so gross to me. I want to enjoy a hot girl pool summer but I just get the ick so bad. Can anyone relate?

And before you ask, I’m even less cool with swimming in lakes or oceans but I’m super landlocked so that doesn’t really come up.

ETA: I don’t have OCD, I’m not a crazy germaphobe, I KNOW there’s no actual danger in pools. I’m talking about the mental aspect of sharing [even sterile] water with strangers. We seem to be divided between people getting it and people thinking I’m some sort of ridiculous priss for being yucked out. All I’ll say is, next time a used bandaid gently caresses you on its way by in the public pool, think of me.

Real talk - how often do you and your partner strap?

If you do use strap-ons and similar accoutrements, of course.

My wife and I both have vaginas and enjoy a good strap session, but as our relationship has progressed and life gets busier we find ourselves doing it less and less and opting for less physically strenuous and more logistically simple sessions. I have a very reactive libido and I’m not great with delayed gratification 😂 so I find sometimes stopping just when things are getting good to have her get out of bed and strap in can be frustrating and I’d rather just continue simple-style with both of us in bed and in the mood.

I’m wondering if we’re the odd ones here or whether this is common in lesbian relationships. We are definitely having less sex generally than we used to due to health and general life stress stuff so that could be part of it, but after talking to some friends so said they use a strap almost every time I’m wondering what the general experience is for a majority of us. Or maybe it’s totally dependent on the couple and I’m overthinking it!

I can’t wait for your insights 😊

Anyone have any suggested resources for learning more about local Edmonton history?

As the title suggests, I’ve lived here and Strathcona County all my life but just moved downtown and I’ve been really enjoying walking around and reading the various informational plaques and statues around Jasper. It’s made me want to learn more about the history of the Edmonton area generally.

Does anyone have any suggestions of books they’ve read or other avenues of informative tidbits that aren’t a basic Google search? Google AI is recommending some books but I’d like to hear what your personal fave resources are for both basic and more esoteric local history knowledge.

Unrelated and a long shot, but also, if anyone knows what statue used to be front and center in the park out front of the Hotel Mac (Frank Oliver Park) on Jasper and 100th, I would be so grateful. I go there a lot and I’m almost sure the weird empty spot there now used to be a statue but I can’t find anything on who it was [ETA: Google tells me it was literally Frank Oliver , something about Indigenous issues?] or why it got torn down.

All these kids who have made Jax their ‘comfort character’ are in TROUBLE.

Whether it was a deliberate F U on Goose’s part toward a certain subsect of Jaxbrained fans who have nerfed her enjoyment of her own fandom, or whether it was just a strange writing choice to have Jax essentially commit suicide in the last episode after an entire series focused on his development with a final message of “if you kill yourself your friends will all be happier forever without you”… all these mentally ill teenagers and young adults who have their entire identity and psyche tied up in this purple rabbit are about to suffer a devastating blow to both.

Anyone else bracing for the copium coming soon? I know this sounds mean-spirited but some of these people are about to absolutely spiral and I’m genuinely concerned about them.

What’s your guesses for most popular fix-it theory coming our way?

ETA this response to a deleted (?) comment that I feel fits fine as a standalone: I really think they want to believe that someone can be an abusive asshole to everyone around them for years but ultimately be forgiven and move forward as a better person. When in reality, I think the message is more ‘you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved’.

When does it stop feeling like your limbs are filled with sand while moving/exercising? 😭

5’5, 280lbs

Am I just exceptionally bad at moving my body or does it feel for anyone else like they’re trying to move through wet cement/sand when getting your body moving? I know I’m carrying like 150 extra lbs along with me here but Jesus, I’m exhausted.

Edmonton, where do you get your nails done?

I’m looking for a new nail salon that does really quality work. Preferably near downtown/Whyte but I’m willing to travel for the right salon.

My wife and I are quoting this 99% of the time whenever we watch something with a child actor. Nothing more immersion breaking in the wide world of entertainment.
