Affinity Federal Credit Union (NJ)

Hello everyone! I am looking to join Affinity and wanted to get some reviews from the people that have been customers here. I currently bank with Chase and I am not a big fan of their products so I am slowly making the switch over to a credit union.

- Are there any issues that you have encountered over the years?

- I am looking at their products and they have a lot of monthly requirements what happens if you don't hit it?

- is it easy to become a member? I am a student that graduated from Rutgers. Do I need a specific link or referral to be approved for membership?

- I saw they have a smart savings account does anyone have this and know if I can use this kinda like a DIY high yields checking? It says there's Zelle, direct deposit, unlimited transactions...

Any help is appreciated and thank you so much!

Credit Union vs Chase

I currently bank with Chase and their fees/high minimums are starting to really annoy me. I am looking to maybe start my relationship with a credit union. Are there things I should be looking out for? Having Zelle is something that is also important for me since I use it to immediately send money to myself from one account to another account.

Just finished my first interview!

I’m not sure how to feel but just finished my first interview!!

What is the turn around time typically for programs this early on? Would I hear within a couple days?

Where is most of networth?

I’m not sure if my money is in the right areas. Most of it is in my Roth and 401k rn.

I barely have anything in my taxable brokerage account should I also prioritize that as well? I have the hopes of retiring early like mid 40’s.

Tell me about yourself? (Interview advice)

I have a couple of interview invites coming up. So yay! But now I have to start prepping for interviews. I need some help with the "tell me abt yourself"

I have a rough outline on what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to bring up my upbringing, being the oldest sibling, where I grew up and working at my parent's business growing up. Then afterwards I wanted to talk about my college experience and my PCE job. Finally wrap it up and talk about my hobbies.

My path to why I was interested in medicine really started with an interest in middle school and high school with science classes. Should I mention that or talk about what I learned working my PCE job and how that confirmed my interest without going into too much detail? Should I mention that I was in initially started off as Pre-Pharmacy?

My main question is I dont want my answers to tell me about yourself to take away from my why PA answer.

If there are any other interview tips and tricks please leave them below too! Any help is greatly appreciated.

21M trying to hit 100k

So I only own these two ETFs. I DCA every week 100 dollars. 75-25 split. Is there something I should do differently?

Best app to track net worth?

What’s the best app? That’s preferably free or a one time purchase that is reasonable.

I’ve been using Chase’s built in wealth tracker. I’m looking for something that’ll update automatically

Bio waitlist for Barnard help

Has anyone ever been in my position? I’m a CC student and I made my mind to take bio at Barnard.

However due to my unideal registration time I am on the waitlist. Is it easy to get off of the waitlist? I was told by the prof I am number 2 on the waitlist.

Is this a course that people will drop? I’ve been trying to maintain contact with the prof to get into the course.

Research?

I’m a premed student that plans on taking a gap year. Next semester I’m taking 18 credits and I feel behind about research.

I was wondering how one goes about getting research? Are any summer programs available so I can do that full time? I’m not from NY but I live in NJ.

I know cold emailing is always talked about but where can I find researchers/labs? If anyone is doing clinical research at the med school how did you get that as an undergraduate?

Contemporary Civilization Profs

I couldn’t find any info on culpa for CC profs. Can some upperclassman post who their profs were and what they thought abt the course?

I’m trying to find a prof that isn’t a harsh grader and can get me an A

Thank you and congrats class of 26!🎊

what can I do…? Scheduling help🙏

I miscalculated my odds of getting specific classes and I think I messed up.

I was trying to do intro to bio at Barnard and orgo together as that’s doable. But I wasn’t able to get intro to bio at Barnard :/

So now I have orgo and intro to bio at Columbia with other classes. I didn’t do great in gen chem and frosci so I am incredibly nervous. I wanted to switch orgo to physics but the class is literally full. Is there anything I can do from here?

Anything and everything will be helpful for me

This might be a silly question but I am curious whether I need to input every experience I’ve had during college including times when I was a member?

For instance:

I am an incoming Pre-PA club e-board member. However should I include that I was a general member before and the hours I’ve accumulated with that?

Also, I am currently a secretary chair of the organization and I was wondering if I can just lump that into one activity description like: “Secretary (incoming e-board member)” and explain my roles as a secretary and what I have done since training for the new role? Or should I input them separately as different experiences?

I have a couple other orgs that are like this but I wanted to double check.

Thank you everyone :)

So I am in a bit of a situation. I’m taking chem lab w Sarah and it’s a course based on points. I am so close to an A. I am at like a 0.1 or 0.2 from the cutoff😔

Does she round up? I’ve tried to get every single extra credit opportunity possible
