Major mistake: blocking playback of shared songs

I’ve been using Suno maybe about a year and, though I’ve some complaints here and there, overall I’ve been a huge supporter and fan, and have sent lots of friends and people I know to go check it out.

The recent(ish?) change that now blocks playback of shared songs without an account feels like a huge misstep for Suno, and for me it’s taken a lot of the joy out of using the service.

I know a lot of services and social media do this sort of thing, but most of those that do are much more ubiquitous and more general purpose — and much more likely to have an arbitrary recipient already have an account.

I used to feel excited to share a song with people I know — people who might not be into suno or ai or even songs necessarily. But now there’s no point in doing it. The majority of people I know don’t have an account and aren’t going to get one just to hear whatever I’ve sent them.

For suno too I think it’s a mistake. I’m sure somebody is looking at analytics and is pleased to see how many sign ups they’re generating, but those will be the weakest signups and some number like 20X that will just never give it a second thought.

I really hope they change this back, and soon.

Open to suggestions of good alternative services or private models. Though honestly private models have the same sharing problem in that you either need to send an audio file or host one somewhere.

apple mac leasing w/ Klarna bait and switch scam

Apple announced their consumer leasing program and, besides phones they also show lease options for macbooks, mac minis, and mac studios.

So far I’ve talked to several people with STELLAR credit (FICO 800+, $600k in the bank, never missed a payment) who were shown $235/mo through Apple Upgrade via Klarna — 100% of them DENIED and all Klarna shows is a 1000 credit line. One person with credit monitoring said that they never even were prompted to enter their SSN and there was no credit check actually done.

So if this is NOT bait-and-switch, then it’s seriously broken.

One prompt to localize your iOS app

I've been working on accessibility and localization across a number of apps recently. I started on this very manually and then got some help from AI. After a few rounds of this, I've got a long-winded prompt that gets the majority of the heavy lifting done for you. I'm using claude with Opus/Fable but with some verification and re-check help from codex and agy.

This didn't get all the work done but it got a very large portion of it and did so largely correctly.

Check it out if you like and let me know your thoughts:

M3 ultra &3999 -> $5299 ?!

Wow we all knew price hikes were coming but some of these feel … nuts!

With AI eating all the chips… is this the new normal? do consumer electronics get more expensive for the foreseeable future?

Donating searchable items to Core Spotlight -vs- Indexed Entities to Apple Intelligence

OK, so are these the same thing?

I'm slooowly working my way through some of the WWDC26 videos and came across this one: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2026/246

It talks about having to first donate your searchable items to Core Spotlight OR Indexed Entities to Apple Intelligence. Are these two different ways to do the same things? It's a bit unclear to me.

Thanks!

4.8 is kind of a butt

Is it just me or is claude code with opus 4.8 a little bit of an butthead?

I think it’s very effective getting things done but am finding I fairly strongly dislike it, in the way one might dislike an annoying person.

Instead of just showing suggestions or ideas on a solution it gets actively combative about them — literally refusing to write the thing the way I instructed. Or even just saying it’s not going to write X until I performance test such and such a thing. those were today.

A couple days ago it refused to give me feedback on some architectural thoughts, instead saying that “we aren’t going to waste time on that”, insisting we go another direction.
