Slay the Spire meets XCOM - Two characters, one deck. Thoughts?

Slay the Spire meets XCOM - Two characters, one deck. Thoughts?

The idea is that you control two characters during a run that shares a deck. Every character has their own cards that is only playable on them, with some neutral cards that should work as the grease that makes the deckbuilding and idea a viable thing in the early game.

The plan is that most of these neutral cards are to be replaced by character specific cards or better neutral cards.

All this to make the synergy between the characters as good as possible by the end.

Does this make sense?

I want to see the game you're working on!

Hellooo Reddit!

I've reached a point in my indie game journey where I'm quite fatigued working on my own game Cardslinger.

Deckbuilder fest passed like a storm and I was very busy trying to solve bugs and patch the playtest we had during the fest. It was a very fun and rewarding experience and many "low-hanging fruits" were removed/fixed. I dearly hope to enter another fitting fest like deckbuilder again in the future.

There is however one negative side to the fest: I had no time or energy to check other games out and I would like to change that. I feel the need to regain myself and try out some games, see some beautiful art and engage with this fine community.

Would you kindly let me look at your steam pages and try your wonderful games? I would be a happy little camper.

Much love,

a dudefromCAPSLOCK

Edit:
I just want to say thank you all for sharing. I am a bit overwhelmed by the great response on this post! To all you who put your links here that I haven’t yet checked out; I intend to get to your game as well. I just need to make sure I survive life in between gaming sessions!
Again a great thank you to all who posted here and thank you all for sharing!

The difference one light makes, and we left it on for far too long. Is the change visible?

We realized that we we're unintentionally team flashing ourselves and our players and the big thing is that we never really realized it until today when we questioned the graphic settings of our game.

The change was in our opinion quite big and made a huge difference in how the game looks overall and we're wondering if that change is visible for others as well.

What do you think? Is there a difference or are we starting to lose it as a team?

Western comic inspired card art.

Do you think it looks like classic western comics?

We've been trying to emulate the classic artstyle and we think we've gotten pretty close. My personal favourite is either "Hunker Down" or "Impending Doom".

What do y'all think?

Deckbuilding Roguelite - Cardslinger. What do you think of the card art? We're quite proud!

This is a sample of some of cards for our game. What do you think of the cards, would you like looking at them for hours on end?

We've tried going for an old western comic book art style for the cards and we think that shows and is readable.

Hope you like it!

Are these card images dark enough for dark fantasy?

We're making a game and want the artstyle to be in a darker tone to match the general narrative. Would you say that the card art is dark enough for a dark fantasy western game?

Asking for a friend.

Wishlists - A slow and steady grind from two perspectives. Which do you prefer to look at?

Here are two graphs that display the wishlists of our game Cardslinger.

One is a bleak and demoralising visual - Real, more accurate and more telling of the state of things.

The other is hopeful and makes me feel good about the game - still real, accurate and telling the state of things.

I think I prefer the second one.

Game Title: Cardslinger

Description: It's a roguelike deckbuilder set in a weird west world, has combat on a grid and played with a shared deck. Pick two Outlaws and have them fight their way through the Frontier on the hunt for redemption! I've been a fan of cowboys ever since I was a kid and making a game about it just felt right seeing as there are some big ones but not alot of them. This is an early version and just a playtest. More time will be spent developing this.

It's been a journey getting here and I hope that you wonderful people on reddit might enjoy playing this project of ours.

Any feedback is good feedback and I appreciate every comment and opinion!

Involvement: I program the UI and I also do the little amount of writing there is in the game.

Link to the Steam page!

Enjoy.

Game Title: Cardslinger

Playable link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4090010/Cardslinger/?utm_source=red&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=post

Platform: PC (Windows)

Description: It's a roguelike deckbuilder set in a weird west world, has combat on a grid and played with a shared deck. Pick two Outlaws and have them fight their way through the Frontier on the hunt for redemption! We've tried to make it not like other roguelite deckbuilders where there's a branching pathway that you follow and instead tried to play with a time aspect instead. We wanted a more tactical and grid-based answer to the typical deckbuilder and have tried to apply some of those elements.

It's been a journey getting here and I hope that you wonderful people on reddit might enjoy playing this project of ours. There are some weird little kinks in the game still but that is part of the playtest experience, right?
