My little review on the Hybrid Trunk

Hey guys, I recently purchased the Hybrid trunk in size large in Adobe Brown and just came back from a short overseas trip. Hoping this helps anybody who may be on the fence in getting a trunk style luggage.

Ordering experience: Just wanted to thank the amazing team here on reddit. I had initially messaged just curious which colour was a good option to avoid scuff marks as I wanted a reliable luggage I could use for the next decade. The team were so friendly already helping me with getting a recently expired discount offer to be applied and also adding to my surprise a free luggage cover. They were so thoughtful and I feel reassured that hopefully dealing with them in the future with any major issues should be no problem.

Delivery: Super quick I was initially worried I would maybe need to pay for additional express shipping as I was leaving at the end of the week. The luggage was purchased I think on a Thursday and I received an email a day later saying it was shipped arriving to me within about 3 business days on a Tuesday. Note I am based in Australia and the company has their own stock based here which might explain why it was delivered so quickly. So any Australians on here looking to pick up a Monos the delivery timeframe is pretty accurate and spot on.

First impressions: This trunk is beautiful, I was really impressed by how premium it looked with the aluminium detail. The trunk lock mechanisms felt very solid, super easy to open and the entire lip opening of the trunk is made with solid aluminium too. The inside was incredibly spacious and I was packing for a mini ski trip and was able to fit my major clothing items like 2x snow jackets, 4x sweaters, 2x jeans, 2x jumpers with plenty of space to spare for souvenirs and shopping. I did feel that the front shell of the luggage was a bit thin and worried that it could potentially crack if thrown with force in the future as it felt a bit hollow. It is quite sturdy though but just felt it could have been slightly thicker material to give the front part of the luggage more protection.

Using during the trip: Immediately got compliments from my friends when they saw it for the first time. They were surprised with the price of the luggage as they thought it would cost way more. The wheels were super smooth when going through the airport. I also loved that they had an underside groove so you can pick it up on both ends to put into the baggage drop belt or when scanning through customs. Makes it also very easy for baggage handles instead of using just the top handle. My carry on tote bag also sat very securely right on the top of my luggage without toppling off like some other check in luggage I’ve had from experience. I didn’t use the luggage cover for this trip as I was curious how much scuff marks the shell would pick up. Surprisingly not noticeable at all due to the darker brown colour I had picked although definitely be cautious if you’re using a lighter colour. I found with the matte finish of the shell it was very easy to wipe off most marks and the most visible scuffs were from the aluminium corners which was also very easy to wipe off as well.

Some feedback for the team: It’s definitely not the most perfect trunk suitcase. There were some parts of the luggage that I felt could’ve been made a bit more user friendly and functional. I found when opening the luggage like a trunk it would usually need a wall to lean on as some cases it was a bit too top heavy and would end up falling backwards. This can be very easily fixed by putting your heavier clothes or items in the main trunk compartment. I just felt especially when you’re initially packing the empty suitcase you’d need to lean it somewhere for support. It would’ve been nice if they had built a heavy backside so that it didn’t need to do that. Also there is a flap that separates the larger compartment in place but that flap was quite annoying as there was no way to tether it to the top. So if you’re opening your luggage the compartment flap would repeatedly keep falling down on itself when you’re trying to pack or unpack. Also the shape and size of this trunk can be a bit troublesome when loading into the boot of a taxi. I was travelling with 2 other people and their normal check in luggage were able to fit perfectly into the boot of the car but with mine it had to be loaded onto the passenger seat. This was due to the shape of the luggage itself which I’m more aware of now moving forward.

In conclusion: It’s a beautiful and solid piece of luggage and already received compliments. Very durable material and after my first overseas trip the matte shell did not show much signs of scuffs or scratches but just be aware what colour you’re going for. I did feel initially that the shell was a bit thin and could possibly crack but after my trip it’s so far been fine and met my expectations. Fantastic customer service from the team and really speedy delivery. Just some slight nitpicks regarding the internal compartment and the shape and size of large trunk can make it awkward for uber/taxi drivers. Will definitely be interested in possibly their carry on trunks in the future. The trunk luggage definitely could fit way more than what my large check in could and the deeper compartment makes packing so much more easier to compress. 8/10 highly recommend. Great friendly sales service and delivery. Decent premium luggage without the huge price tag like some other brands.

Questions as a future first time dog owner.

Hey guys! I’m Nate and from Australia. I’ve been wanting to get a dog for the longest time and been researching breeds that would suit the lifestyle of a person who works from a small single story home. I’m relatively clean and prefer a low shedding dog. I’m also used to the grooming needs as I used to have a Maine coon cat. Some breeds I’ve narrowed down to is possibly a Havanese, a miniature poodle or schnauzer. So here are my questions after researching more on a Havanese breed:

- Is it a good decision as a first time owner to pick up puppy at an older stage at 10-12 weeks old? Have most of you picked up your Havanese at 8 weeks or at an older age and is there an advantage to that (eg. potty training or socialisation)

- Experience with feeding Havanese. Based on videos they are picky eaters and don’t always eat. I’m worried about that crucial puppy growing stage. Has your puppies had issues not eating enough food? If so was there ways you needed to supplement that? Also do they have sensitive stomachs and possibly throw up food?

- potty training Havanese. Do you use grass turf potty training or do you use puppy pads in the house. How long can adults hold bladders for and how long did it take to fully potty train your puppy? Did it take several months before you were confident they had no accidents? I will be avoiding puppy pee pads as I have researched it can slow down the house training and will opt to take it out more often.

- Grooming requirements. I will be brushing daily and will be taking to the groomer monthly. How do you normally groom Havanese and what brushes do you recommend? Do you usually give your Havanese a shorter cut or let their hair grow out?

- experience with barking and vocalness. Was this easy to train and moderate? Are your dogs a bit more barky or vocal?

- regarding desexing. What age do you recommend for a girl or boy? For girls is it better before or after first heat or older age? Any tips for a first time dog owner? Should they be better off wearing a cone or a puppy suit?

- crate training. I know Havanese can be notorious for separation anxiety so did you guys allow your puppies to sleep in your bedroom or did you have them sleep in a separate room? I will be crate training so just deciding possibly if it’s okay to put the crate in my laundry room or would it be best in my bedroom.

- Puppy socialisation period. Did you guys take your Havanese puppies outside often during that socialisation period. Is there any recommendations on how you took your Havanese around and where to take them.

Thanks so much. I have a lot of questions so feel free to answer whatever you’re interested in!

The hate surrounding doodle owners

Hey everybody!

So a bit of background I’ve been looking to get a dog for the longest time and was actually planning to get a standard schnauzer. However about a month ago I was at my local coffee shop and fell in love with this person’s dog. She had such a sweet temperament and was about knee height which was the perfect sized dog I was looking for. I found out it was a miniature groodle (golden retriever x poodle) which is what we call this mix in Australia.

I was able to get in contact with the breeder who was a local and put a deposit down for a future litter in 2027. However in the past few weeks I’ve been researching a lot on puppy training and preparation and noticed a lot of general hate towards owners who have a doodle. A lot of it I see on social media is a general opinion that doodles are unethical and that breeders breed this type of dog for profit.

I just wanted to see what your experience has been raising your doodles. Have you come across any sort of negativity to you adopting one from other dog owners? Are doodles really unethical? I understand that they are not pedigree but I did some research on my breeder and they’ve been breeding doodles for the last 15 years and they screen all their pups for health and genetic diseases and focus on good temperaments. Is that really unethical?

Sorry this was a bit of a long post but just coming from a first time future dog owner.

Which paradise version to get?

Hey guys

Last time I’ve played tamagotchi was back in school and feeling some nostalgia and wanting to pick up the paradise model so it can be a little desk fidget toy that I can check in while working. Just wondering which version should I get? I know there’s two new colours coming out next month so should I just wait?
