checking my bank app every 15 mins for my disbursement

just spent my afternoon trying to figure out how to use this. My mentor got me $100 gift card thinking that corporations still accept physical gift cards. How laughable.

In reality, the only Shell stations that still accept a physical gift card are the corporate stores which there are only two in my area, both being an hour and a half away from me. All the other retailer stores do not accept gift cards. It took three Shell gas stations that I traveled to to understand that.

I call the Shell corporate number, and they tell me to download the app to upload my gift card balance to the app to use at the pump. So now I’m sitting in the gas station downloading an app and entering in my email , phone number, first and last name just to upload the physical gift card so I can pump gas.

Lo and behold, the app does not work and gives me an error message anytime I try and register. I called back the corporate number, and apparently I have an account that’s attached to my phone number. The account is tied to an older system called fuel rewards which is getting sunsetting, so they transferred me to someone else from the old app to change the email. He says our system will take a while, you can login in about 30 minutes.

After 30 mins it’s still not working, won’t send me a reset password, and says if I try again, my account will be locked. I ended up creating a new account with someone else’s phone number and information. I uploaded the gift card information into their account. In order to pump the gas, I need to give the app my location so it knows what gas station and pump I am fueling at, before releasing the funds.

Finally was able to pump the gas, with 87 unleaded at $5.63/gal, filling up the tank with $54.

Long story short, never ever ever support shell gift cards.
