Beginner here, need some confirmation on my grading workflow

in Davinci Resolve color management tab, I set my timeline and output to DWG / DVI

So when I receive the footage (Slog3 / S.gamut3cine) I typically set up my nodes like this:

Denoise > CST IN (slog3 to dwg) > Whatever I need to balance the exp , wb , etc > CST OUT (dwg to rec709) > Maybe a rec709 LUT

I’m honestly been winging it this like this entire time. Am I going down the right path ?

Is this sub always miserable and full of assholes ?

I made a post a a while ago on dealing with intense workplace fights. And people were quick to judge on me for being “a snowflake” or policing on me about how I shouldn’t have the right to feel traumatized just because there’s people out there that have it worse than me.

I thought the community was meant to lift and bring others up, not the other way around. Why are people always quick to judge your backstory without even knowing anything and why the hell am I expected to be a hardened veteran with 20 years of experience in the industry while I’m only 19?

edit: you can see the live example on this comment section. smh.

Dealing with workplace emotional distress ? I’m shaken.

19M here. My friends and I were planning to go shoot a school commercial in a city about 4 hours drive away and we already have producers , director , ad , dop (me) and all.

But yesterday we had a meeting about methods of travel. The producer said that we had to travel via our own cars. One of the directors suggested we go via vans so that we could have more leg rooms and feel more comfortable, more ready to work.

That’s where things escalated, things started to get unprofessional since my unit’s director started getting aggressive and insult the producer and the producer starts to get passive aggressive ish.

Long story short-everyone was kicked out of the production group chat by some unknown guy.
I listened to both sides of the story and they all have a point. It’s mainly resources and budget issue.

But I’m honestly shocked from what happened. I’ve seen workplaces disagreement before but it was never this severe. And considering the fact that I’m the youngest guy there. It’s distressing seeing adults yelling and arguing with each other.

edit: removed the word ‘traumatized’ because I used it in a liberal sense and it undermined people who went through actual traumatizing event that have severe impact on their lives.

edit 2: why are there bunch of jerks in this sub? first it was the cinematography sub, now this ? are the industry in the US always this miserable? Thank god I don’t live there doing this job.

I have seen and been in situations similar to this before. This was my first time experiencing it up to this degree. Yes, I’m mentally shaken but I still have a job to do and I always separate professionalism at work and personal life.

edit 3: I am sorry for being terrible at English, it’s not my first language and I had to teach myself English since nobody in my family speaks it.

I NEED help with finding a song from my childhood

I was going down a trip on memory lane and I can’t get this song out of my head. The song has female autotuned / vocaded choppy vocals and the beatmap background has a girl in the middle with bunch of glowing particles around her.

I think I watched the anime too, the main characters were girls and it’s about false world / reality.

Does this ring anyone’s bell? I’m losing sleep over this

edit: maybe I’ll try to play the main vocal melody on my guitar and let you guys listen somehow

edit: it’s fucking Sendan Life

How do I rekindle with my cousin

I’ll keep it short.

Me and my cousin are relatively close since my dad and his dad are brothers. And I often commute from my college to his house to hangout with him time to time. And we talked and played games online somewhat often too.

But things took a turn when we decided to arrange a photoshoot but I decided to cancel the shoot right before going out because it was raining pretty bad in the location and my camera is not weather sealed.

I’m pretty bummed out too but I’m sure he was frustrated too. After I arrived at my dorm and few days passed, he still texted me like usual but less and then it gradually faded to none. We haven’t interacted for about 2 weeks now.

I wanted to apologize to him but he was never a serious guy and we never seriously talked or
engaged in anything serious. How should I approach this without making everything worse?

No wonder why my friends don’t like fragrances

Because they put their nose ON my arm RIGHT after I sprayed it on. Like gang, my arm still have wet spots just wait bro. And why the hell are you trying to dig your nose into my arms? Just smell the air around it.

This shit pisses me off.

Life circumstances don’t allow me to practice driving.

So I’m a late bloomer here. Just started driving at 19 not due to my driving anxiety or anything. As a matter of fact, I’m more than eager to drive but back when I’m in high school, my parents never brought up driving to me and my town is very small and walkable.

I went back to learn driving on semester’s break but now I’m back in my college apartment to and college is 8 hours away from my home and my parents need their car to go to work.

I’m not in the US and owning a car as a teenager is only really for upper classes. I wanted to practice more but I just can’t and I feel like a failure because all boys and girls around me can drive since they started at 16.

Is it possible to get rid of these keloids on my jaw

it came from my jawline acne that I got when I was doing mandatory military training. Is this still possible to get rid off or maybe reduce the redness and flatten them?

Just starting playing and I kept getting killed by calamity grade players

I’m in college so I’m pretty washed on my gaming skills. If I was 16 I’d be Heian era Sukuna in the server.

Alright so the problem I’m facing right now is that when I’m engaging in a fight people somehow always hit me with their light speed M1s. They hit me thru my block , they dashed right behind my block mid M1 string and I can’t seem to land any hits on them.

How do I navigate this? I know the answer is “git gud” but how? is there any way to practice this?

I have no problem side dashing M1 on blocking dummies but when it’s a real player with unpredictable movement it became impossible for me

Trying out Thall Amp!

this is just an intro for a duo project that I’m doing with my friend. The next section will probably be something Thall-esque or djenty.

Maybe I was born to be a passenger

19M Thai here.

On April I went back to visit my family back at home and I brought up the fact that I still didn’t know how to drive, so they signed me up to a driving school. After some teachings they finally let me go onto a highway. I got used to the car controls fairly quickly and I was comfortable going fast.

But I was overwhelmed for the whole drive. There’s so much input, my surroundings, the noise and the instructor’s words. I made some mistakes here and there but luckily the car has dual control so the instructor had a bit of control over accelerating and braking (but I have to admit, when they press the pedal for me it threw my sense of depth off) and I didn’t know when to brake or just to just leg go of the gas. I’m still terrible at parking.

Now I’m back in my college dorm 500km away from family. I wanted to practice driving so bad but I have 0 access to anything. I’m one of a scant few people in my class that can’t drive. It’s embarrassing. Driving is so overwhelming and a difficult task for me. I don’t know when will I even get good as I lack talent for most things.

My ass is only saved by Bangkok mrt and bts sky trains and widely available public transportation.
I only have about 2-3 hrs airtime of driving in my back pocket….

We're both 19 but her family is much wealtheir than me. She has explored the world , have lots of friend , a very atheletic person and she is a very good driver.

Compared to me, I'm just a shut-in that have few friends and classmate. Never had deep or intimate relationship , I came from a poor small town and didn't travel much , still a beginner driver and I'm a bit chubby.

I feel depressed and horrible everyday comparing myself to her. Does anyone feel this way ?
