CD: R2 Review (TLDR: went further at higher speed than that other video...)

A complimentary article from traditional automotive journal. Range test was somewhat similar to Kyle's Out of Spec results but CD did better (both cars had the same 21" wheels). Whereas OOS did 253 miles at 70mph, Car and Driver tests at a higher 75mph speed and achieved more range out of the R2 at 260 miles. Granted CD doesn't run EVs until they die per their testing notes like Kyle did, but nobody really runs an EV down in the real-world either.

Not a side-by-side test, but the really interesting comparison is to other range tests for the Tesla Model Y Performance Juniper. TLDR: nobody can come even remotely close to Kyle's 310 miles. When Car and Driver tested the refreshed 2026 Model Y Performance, it was able to complete 270 miles at 75mph. And Edmunds tested the 2026 Model Y Performance and got 292miles before it died with a combination of 60% city and only 40% highway. Edmunds has pretty strict testing methodology if you scroll to the bottom of this page. That Edmunds got less range out of the Model Y Performance averaging 40mph than Kyle got at 70mph is really head scratching. Unless I'm missing something?

Completely agree with Kyle that the EPA testing allowing for different cycles, manufacturer self reporting and the single range number for EVs just makes it so confusing for consumers. But like every other range test, your results will vary, and I think many of these numbers will show the R2 is closer in highway range to the Model Y Performance Juniper in the real world.

P3.0.28 OTA started in the US

A few days ago a post was made with Polestar saying the P3.0.28 update was available via OTA to all Polestar 3 owners except in the US and Canada. So we were pleasantly surprised when we got the app notification this morning saying there was a new OTA for our car (July 27, 2026 in Massachusetts, USA).

Software 3.0.18

Picked up vehicle from dealer (would not charge on dc or ac, spent only couple hours at dealer though) and noticed slightly different status bar. Looks like they updated all of the software. Other than slight ui changes the only thing I've noticed so far is android auto. Will update if notice more though

P3 loves spring efficiency

A week post-Orin upgrade for our 2025 LRDM 3 in the northeast US reminds me how nice spring is for EVs without HVAC usage. Could barely get efficiency numbers like this on our 2. What’s everyone else getting? (23kWh/100mi for the last 20mi and 24.4kWh/100mi for the last 100mi!)

The microphone on our 3 only worked about 50% of the time prior to the Orin update. Have done two drives since picking up our 3 post Orin update (OS 2.1.26) and the mic worked the first time but not on the second drive. It’s not simply Google Assistance; speech-to-text and even via Bluetooth cannot use the mic. Was really hoping Orin and the OS update would fix our mic issues are curious if others had or are still having such an issue?
