Can anybody tell how HDR look on the 2026 Asus ROG Strix Scar 18?
I work with HDR so I'd need it to be at least decent, without a terrible color accuracy and without massively raised blacks.
The only review I can find that did a color accuracy test says the color error is huge in the modes with local dimming (which is forced on in HDR): https://tweakers.net/reviews/10104/asus-rog-strix-scar-18-over-the-top-ook-qua-prijs.html#chapter_6
however, this video of the same laptop seems to paint a different (although incomplete) picture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpDanDwd7x0
I'm not familiar with MiniLED, I've never seen it, so I'm not sure what to expect.
HDR video playback is now available in Firefox with version 153.0 (Windows)

This makes blur stronger than it should at higher frame rates:

This brings up a question: should HDR be an extension of SDR, or is it ok for it to look completely different?
A small saturation boost to take advantage of the wider HDR gamut is ok, however I strongly feel the answer is the former.
Despite this game not being realistic, and thus being quite lenient on the art side (human brain picks up weird skin tones on humans, but not on Legos!), grading can't be authored twice, so unless both outputs follow the same principles, only one will look "correct".

It finally happened. Humanity has peaked.

HDR Den developers worked closely with Davo & Doodlum to bring this to life, in a process that lasted almost 2 years: the results are absolutely stunning!
Skyrim basically didn't do any tonemapping: it simply clipped all highlights. Since the game’s average brightness is very high, a huge amount of the scene could end up clipped at any given time: snow, fire, skies, spells, sky, etc.
With HDR, these finally retain detail, showcasing the art as it was made!
We also tweaked shadow to keep more detail, without losing contrast (the game clipped a lot of near-black colors due to ancient contrast formulas).
Stay tuned as there's more to come (HDR support for post-processing rework mods)!

Please give it a star if you have a github account, it'd help us, and thus we'd be able to make more and better HDR mods!

The grading might be the most extreme ever seen in a video game, alongside with Starfield.
Do you think it looks good? Would it be too much for a game?
