Ritchie Blackmore and his Aiwa TP-1011 "boost pedal"

Ritchie played a song with Deep Purple for the first time in 33 years last night. He only brought a small combo but he did find room for his Aiwa TP-1011 tape machine. He uses the mic preamp as a boost pedal, it's a huge part of the classic DP/Rainbow sound.

Richard Thompson on 'Five Leaves Left'

Richard Thompson discusses playing the electric guitar on Time Has Told Me and talks about Nick generally. This is an excerpt from a film about Sound Techniques studio where Nick's (and many other Witchseason) albums were recorded. The film is still being made and seeking funding, you can help by buying merchandise, including a very cool Nick t-shirt, from https://soundtechniquesmovie.square.site/.

Witches' Rave on the soundtrack of The Change S02E01

The Change is an excellent Channel 4 UK comedy series from a couple of years ago. It's nice to hear a deeper cut from Jeff being used - probably also cheaper for a lowish budget production. But the title does fit well with the "funny stuff happening in the Forest" vibe.

Jeff Buckley's pedals 1995

This is Jeff Buckley's setup during a show in Paris in 1995, probably a TV appearance but a live one. He's using two amps with an Alesis Quadraverb in front of one of them as usual, and you can see those at the back of the stage (cropped to fit the sub rules). He's known to have used an AB switcher to control the amps so that might be the two footswitch pedal next to his left foot.

But what is the huge thing in the middle of the shot? He didn't use multieffects (didn't really use a lot of effects live apart from the Quadraverb) and it looks a bit big to be an amp footswitch. But it is possible the amps are backline hire and this came with to do one simple thing in an inconvenient package size. :)

Robert's verdict on the Wolverhampton show

RF: A superb show in Wolverhampton last night. Was it King Crimson? No, and it didn't need to be - it's BEAT! The first show of any tour provides its challenges - guitars stop working or disappear from the mix, is it 5 or 4 beats at the end of Red? - and none of it matters. Gratitude to Ade, Tony, Stevie and Danny for keeping the music fresh and alive. My only disappointment: not the right time for a monster margarita with my old bud Ade after the show.

Just a shout out to the Wiltshire air ambulance crew for being absolute heroes. And a general post to say how lucky we are to have them. For free. For everyone and it’s all funded through donations. Officially their biggest fan right now.

Edit: been asked a few times in the comments- donation page Wiltshire Air Ambulance - the best people ever!
