Should social media platforms reward users for valuable comments and contributions, just as they reward content creators?

Not every freelancer you meet on a freelancing platform is actually the person who will develop your project.

If you're a business owner hiring through Fiverr or another freelancing marketplace, there is something worth checking before awarding your project.

Some profiles operate more like project resellers or outsourcing intermediaries than individual developers.

The process can look like this:

Client posts requirement → Freelancer wins the project → Requirement is reposted on LinkedIn/Facebook/WhatsApp groups → Cheapest available developer is hired → Work is passed between multiple people

The problem isn't outsourcing itself. Many professional agencies outsource specialized work responsibly.

The problem starts when the client isn't told who is actually developing the project.

This can lead to:

  • Communication gaps
  • Inconsistent code quality
  • Missed requirements
  • Lack of technical ownership
  • Delayed delivery
  • Difficulty fixing bugs
  • No reliable post-launch support

And sometimes the project enters a never-ending cycle of one person passing the work to another.

If you're hiring a developer, ask a few simple questions:

  • Who will actually write the code?
  • Can I speak directly with the technical person?
  • Can you explain the proposed architecture?
  • Can you show relevant work you've personally delivered?
  • Who will maintain the project after launch?

Freelancing platforms can absolutely have excellent developers. The point isn't to avoid Fiverr or freelancing websites.

The point is to verify who you're actually hiring.

For important business software, consider hiring through a structured process—whether that's through LinkedIn, referrals, a verified developer, or an established development company.

Don't just hire a profile. Know the team that will actually build your product.
