Permethrin tips please

I'm going to be treating my clothes with permethrin tomorrow and have a few questions.

Is it safe/good to use on things like socks and hats?

How saturated is saturated enough?

Any other general tips?

Edit: To people saying to just read the label, labels don't say which items to use it on. I wouldn't have thought about spraying my shoes without making this post. I'm not looking for advice that's on the label like spray outside and keep away from cats.

Any guesses? He died almost a year ago, so can't test

I miss him and I'm curious.

He was 18 pounds of solid muscle, with a super meaty neck and curled tail. And really bad skin allergies that we had just managed to get under control when he was killed. He was an extreme velcro dog, always needed to be physically touching me.

Breathable hinge knee brace

Does anyone know of a breathable hinged knee brace? Something either mostly cotton or mesh?

I need to wear them when walking, but I can't stand the plastic foam and trapped moisture feeling

Can someone using section 8 for apartment A also lease apartment B?

Location: Wisconsin

Last year I rented my downstairs unit to a couple. A few months later one of them moved out into a section 8 voucher apartment. It's time to decide on renewing and they are requesting to both be on the lease again.

A Google search leans towards a section 8 tenant not being permitted to have a second lease, but the closest thing I could find for a HUD source on the topic was more about occupancy than the lease itself (one said "only residence" another said "primary residence" another just said you have to live there full time)

Can someone using a section 8 housing voucher for one apartment be on a second lease elsewhere?

Do I need a bear canister?

I'm going on my fist backpacking trip about where the purple dot is and I'm trying to figure out whether or not I need a bear canister or bear bag. It's 4 days 3 nights at designated backpacking shelters in a state park.

The guidance from the DNR is to use a bear canister if you are going to be somewhere with bears... but does "Rare" count as somewhere with bears? The 2025 population report estimates that there are about 200 bears in the light blue area.

Academia related question

I'm a co- author on a paper being submitted today. I was the last to get a chance to review it and was added at the start of year 2 of the 2 year paper, meaning I'm not a major contributor, but I definitely contributed-- and there wasn't much time for my concerns to be discussed.

The problem is that women and "other" genders are combined for analysis without explanation. This was decided early on and without my input. I don't necessarily have a problem with combining them, but I think it is wrong and transphobic to combine them without providing a reason why they are combined.

When I saw this in the draft I told the lead author that I'm not comfortable with this unless there is at least a sentence saying why the genders were combined. The lead assured me that it would be addressed.

It wasn't really addressed. (Originally quoted the paper here, but now deleted to avoid easy direct identification)

They didn't give a reason for combining them, they basically just said that we did combine them and the number of non- binary respondents is too low to analyze at this time.

I'm thinking of withdrawing my name as a co- author and need to decide like right this moment. I'm on a second paper this summer and a third very soon, so losing this one wouldn't matter too much. I'm just worried that I'm over reacting to this.

I'm not sure what to do

Edit: I've decided that since this is the conference version of the paper and I'm a grad student I'm not going to rock the boat by withdrawing now. I will make sure that it is fully addressed before the journal version is finalized, and withdrawal if it's not appropriately addressed.

Red irritated eye

I've already emailed the vet and will call them when they open in half an hour.

Edit I've heard back from his vet and they can fit him in later this morning***

First picture is a few minutes after he woke up and rubbed his face on an area rug, second picture is after a clean warm water washcloth.

We were supposed to go camping today, but he woke up with his right eye covered in discharge and red. I know eye trouble is nothing to take lightly, but if his regular vet can't fit us in today is this emergency vet territory? Should the camping trip (only 2 nights) be canceled?

His other eye in unaffected. He goes to daycare on Mondays and also puts his head into the brush on our walks, so it could be a scratch. His daycare is separated by size and temperament and alternates play time and kennel rest throughout the day.

I'm just looking for additional guidance

Surgery recovery

I've previously had a laparoscopic endometrioma removal, then a year later endometrioma and ovary removal. I had really easy recoveries both time.

I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy in a few months. It should be just a simple laparoscopic partial hysterectomy removing the uterus and leaving the cervical cuff.

For people who've had different types of laparoscopic gyno surgeries, how have your recoveries compared?

How do you handle the hair between the eyes while growing out their ponytail?

Picture after a long day of playing with friends. The hair above his eyes is at the point where it can almost be contained, but not quite.

I'm trying to grow out his bangs, and I think I want to include the hair between his eyes in that. But how can he exist comfortably while the hair between his eyes is long but definitely not long enough? Should I just give up on that and keep trimming at his inner eyes?

Creeping bellflower or white snakeroot

Does anyone have a good guide for differentiating young creeping bellflower and white snakeroot? I'm asking here because creeping bellflower is edible but snakeroot is definitely not.

I know my yard is full of bellflower, and I want to start tackling that problem, but I also have white snakeroot. I thought I could forage a little while beginning the eradication, but the toxic look alike is a concern. I also don't want to pull up all the native snakeroot while trying to get rid of the bellflower.

Should I just ignore them until they're blooming?

I have a duplex and live on the second floor. All of my kitchen, the basement lights, half the dining room/ office, and half the living room are all on the same circuit. This means needing to go flip the switch almost daily (basically any time someone is using the tv room and a kitchen appliance at the same time).

What could be the expected cost range to split that circuit and add an additional outlet in the kitchen? I'm in a medium sized rust belt city. Like, is this in the <$1000 range, $1000-$3000, over $5000?
