Carved some dinky skulls and other bits and bobs from my sea glass

I had a ton of sea glass I collected a few years ago, I recently bought a rotary tool and realised I could carve them after seeing someone else on reddit do it. Really enjoy it. Anyone else that is interested please be aware of the silica dust that is produced and the hazards involved. Thanks for looking 🙏😁

Been carving megalodon teeth from sea glass — they’re turning into strange little relics from an ocean that never existed

I have carved these from sea glass I collected a few years back in Cornwall, trying to add more detail with each one. Really enjoying creating stuff and getting artistic again (job prevented this for many years), thanks for looking :)

Been carving tiny skulls from sea glass — they’re starting to look like little spirits trapped in glass

I’ve been carving miniature skulls out of sea glass for a while now, and lately they’ve taken on this strange, almost supernatural vibe. Every piece of glass behaves differently — some glow like deep ocean water, some shift colour in the light, some have bubbles inside that look like they’re frozen mid‑movement.

What I love is how each one ends up with its own personality.
Some look mischievous.
Some look ancient.
Some look like they’re whispering secrets if you stare too long.

The darker pieces feel properly gothic — almost like relics you’d find in a shipwreck or tucked away in an old apothecary drawer. The translucent ones catch the sun and turn into these eerie little spirits you can hold between your fingers.

I’ve been photographing a few of them and thought I’d share. They’re tiny, tactile, weirdly comforting to carry around, and honestly… they’ve become my favourite thing to carve.

If anyone else in the goth/occult/oddities world works with glass or carves miniatures, I’d love to see what you make too.

Could something like this be used on an altar?

I've recently started hand-carving sea glass and this is one of the pieces I've made.

It's a deep green piece of sea glass with this really unusual cracked pattern running through the inside of the glass. I carved it into a small skull and thought it had quite a mysterious feel to it.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about modern witchcraft, so I was wondering — would something like this have a place on an altar? And if so, what sort of meaning or purpose might you give it?

I'd be really interested to hear how people here would use something like this. 🖤🌿

Latest carving 🖤💚

Just finished this little skull from a really unusual piece of deep green sea glass.

The glass has this crazy natural-looking cracked pattern running right through the inside — I honestly don't think I've come across anything like it before.

I carved the skull while trying to preserve as much of that internal pattern as possible. It looks completely different when held up to the light, with the green glowing through the cracks.

Definitely one of the strangest pieces I've made so far. 😁💀

Carved two commissions today — megalodon tooth in pirate glass + a translucent sea glass seahorse

Knocked out a couple of commissions today and thought I’d share the detail on them.

First one’s a megalodon tooth carved from black‑green pirate glass. It’s got that deep glossy colour that shifts depending on the angle, and the material takes texture really nicely — the ridges and edges came out sharp with the diamond burs. Super satisfying piece to shape.

Second is a little seahorse carved from some gorgeous translucent green‑blue sea glass. The colour glows in the light, and the glass had just the right density for clean lines and those ribbed details along the body. The curled tail came out especially nice.

Both pieces were carved with a rotary tool and diamond burs — slow passes, water, patience. Really happy with how they turned out.

[WTS] [UK] XF Tudor Pelagos — Black — 42mm — A2824

Selling my XF Tudor Pelagos (black, 42mm) fitted with the A2824 movement. A great example of the XF Pelagos with excellent lume, crisp bezel action, and the brilliant on‑the‑fly micro‑adjust clasp.

Owned for around a year and worn on and off. Only light desk‑diving marks on the bracelet and clasp. The case has one small scratch on the lug, and the bezel has one minor mark, both shown clearly in the photos. The crystal has very small, light marks, only visible when inspecting closely under certain angles.

The date sits slightly high at times, but you can easily nudge it back into perfect alignment using the crown. It keeps the correct date and functions normally.

Timekeeping is very good, and the watch has been reliable throughout my ownership.

The lume is excellent — bright, even, and long‑lasting.

The bezel clicks beautifully with firm, positive action. There is around 0.5mm of play, which is normal for XF Pelagos reps.

The titanium bracelet is comfortable, lightweight, and features the on‑the‑fly adjustable clasp, which works perfectly and makes it extremely comfortable on the wrist.

Tooth attempt 2

Thanks for all the appreciation for the last tooth, really enjoyed carving that and as I have so many bits that are naturally that shape I went for another one 😁

A couple of my latest carvings 🪶🦈

Just finished these two pieces from Cornish sea glass.

The first is a double feather, carved from a really nice translucent green piece. The original shape of the glass gave me the idea for the two overlapping feathers, so I tried to work with it rather than completely reshape it. I've drilled two holes in it, giving a couple of different options for how it can be worn.

The second is a small shark tooth carved from a lovely piece of translucent glass packed with tiny bubbles and little imperfections. I really liked the character of the glass and wanted to keep as much of it visible as possible.

Both are completely hand carved and made from individual pieces of sea glass — no moulds or casting, just working with what the glass gives me.

Really happy with how these two turned out. 😁

Seaglass Tooth

I found this piece of sea glass months ago because it already reminded me of a shark tooth. Finally got around to carving it into a Megalodon-inspired talisman. Most of the work was in bringing out the details while keeping the original shape the sea had already given it. I think the ocean did half the carving before I ever picked it up. 🦈

Translucent Skull

I've finished this translucent sea glass skull the other day, pretty happy with how it's turned out.

This time I focused on getting the skull proportions a bit closer to real anatomy. I also picked up some new, smaller diamond burs with different profiles, which made it much easier to carve finer details like the eye sockets, nose cavity and teeth without losing the smooth frosted finish.

Pirate Glass Crab Claw

I've been teaching myself to carve sea glass over the last few months, and this is probably the piece I'm happiest with so far.

It started as a large piece of genuine black "pirate glass" found on a Cornish beach. In normal light it looks almost completely black, but shine a torch through it and it reveals a deep green colour.

This was also the first time I had enough material to carve several of the claw segments instead of just the pincer, which made it much more challenging but also much more satisfying.

Every groove and texture was carved by hand with a rotary tool.

Always interested in hearing what people think or any ideas for future carvings!

Chonky Skull

Picked up this absolute chonk of green sea glass in Cornwall and finally carved it down into a skull. It’s about an inch long, roughly 2cm thick, properly weighty, and full of tiny bubbles suspended throughout.

The thickness made it really satisfying to work with, also the colour changes depending on the light. In shade it goes a deep bottle‑green, in bright light it flips to this aquamarine glow, and when you hold it up to a window it becomes almost fully translucent.

Pink Skull

Finished another skull today.

This one is carved from a piece of genuine pink sea glass I found in my collection from Cornwall. I don't come across pink very often, so I've been saving this piece until I had an idea that felt worthy of it.

I kept the carving fairly small (about an inch long), drilled a discreet hole through the side so it can be worn as a pendant, and let the natural colour do most of the talking.

It's probably my favourite carving so far. The pink almost glows when the light hits it, and every angle seems to bring out a different expression in the skull.

Found this piece in my sea glass collection and couldn't resist... 💀🌊

I've got hundreds of pieces of sea glass I've collected over the years, and this one had been sitting there for ages.

I enjoy working with whatever shape the sea has already made rather than forcing an idea onto the glass. Sometimes it ends up as a crab claw, this time it became a skull.

I know some people think sea glass should be left exactly as it is, and I get that. I just enjoy seeing what hidden shapes I can bring out while keeping the character of the original piece.
