Given the nature of discussion on the internet and esoteric subs in particular, I feel the need to pre-disclaim this isn’t a bashing thread, and it’s not a criticizing thread. Not intending to start any sort of debate. I don’t expect I or other readers to be perfectly accurate or perfect in general.

I read my own cards (and for others) but sometimes I am too close to a situation to see fully. So, I get a paid reading. I found an online reader who I really resonated with on with my first reading. It was so elucidating, clarifying, etc.

Second reading felt like their own bias was being inserted in about things not asked for (relationship/love which they also ended up being really wrong about), but I didn’t hang on to it.
My next reading was about my day job and my other career. It was so wildly inaccurate and filled with assumptions, I couldn’t really make heads or tails of it. And as a reader I understand that energy can be off, but it was jarring.

I have had other readings where the readers will get the energy right, but their message wrong. Ie., I went to a reader earlier this year, and I was told a (very private) matter was doomed, and given a soliloquy about why I shouldn’t pursue it, but it turned out that the cards were exactly right about the matter (despite the reader’s skewed interpretation) and pursuing it turned out to be right choice.

I have always known tarot as a tool of divination, and energy is always changing nothing is guaranteed. Most of us know this. My post isn’t about it.

But these experiences made me interested in hearing others’ experiences with readings like this, and why this may have happened beyond the reasoning of “human error.” I am hoping to find insight that is deeper than that.

tl;dr: If you haven't verified your Valencia account and identity, do it now.

Like a lot of people here, I received an email some months ago about verifying my identity with Valencia. Given it was sent to my personal email, and I'd already gotten several college scam emails, I ignored it. All official communication about Valencia, has always come through my student email. From what I can remember in Valencia's "Identifying Spam/Scam Emails" email from some time ago, official communication was listed as always coming through the college email, and anything else was a likely red flag.

There wasn't ever a verification email sent to my student email. Neither was there any communication about it on Canvas or myVC.

Ignoring the email I thought was spam, caused me to get put on inactive status, my student email deactivated, and my classes dropped for this upcoming semester. This puts me back on my timeline a bit, but luckily financial aid hasn't been affected.

Visiting virtual advising asking about this, it's like a roll of the dice on what advisor is going to care. Luckily, after inquiring this time, I got an advisor who actually wanted to help. She communicated to me that they are also receiving mixed messages from the elusive Admissions Department, which is extremely hard to get ahold of, but I also got information on my account status.

As of now, I'm finally verified, but the classes I needed to finish out my prereqs are completely filled by this time, and will be by the time my account is finally unlocked and I can reregister for classes.

The college has poorly handled this entire thing. I can appreciate that it's not the fault of the advisors, or even the admissions employees. However, there should have been a clear and actionable plan in place to roll this out, clear and timely communication regarding this ordeal (as I understand this can throw financial aid status out of wack), and an official bulletin from the college.

I love talking to people who were at the scene of House’s birth, peak, the clubs. I used to meet them and listen/learn from other Househeads where I live and from talking to DJs/helping packing up their equipment I’ve learned so much.

One of the highlights of my life was seeing a Paradise Garage ID card and listening to people talk about all the old clubs from NY, like Ecclesiastes (which was apparently in a cathedral), The Loft (only some of them had stories about this, but learning about the greater context was thrilling), Sound Factory, how Larry Levan mixed, etc. Even small details like bringing changes of clothes to the clubs because they got too sweaty dancing, or the battles that would happen on the floor

Never met anyone who danced at Zanzibar or Warehouse, but the photos are everything.

Anybody here have any old or anecdotes they’d like to share?

I love tarot and I love helping people gain insight into their situations.

However, there is a huge downside to this here (and elsewhere) wherein the recipient just doesn’t appreciate it, tries to take advantage (despite set boundaries), or is just plain ungrateful or disrespectful about it.

It’s disheartening, but I don’t want to stop doing them. What is the best way to go about this? Other readers I know say DON’T do this at all (which is understandable considering the bad interactions they’ve had) and that I should charge. However, I don’t feel right charging just yet, and considering how prolific tarot scammers are on here and Etsy, I imagine customers would be extremely wary of me.

Hey y’all! I did a spread to see if I’d been cursed (because my life currently is def giving crossed conditions…) and this is what I ended up with.

I used the Hoodoo Tarot deck, but I put the equivalent of their suits and arcana in parentheses. The spread I used is “Don’t Put That Thang On Me: Catch A Trick” spread from Tayannah Lee McQuillar’s Hoodoo Tarot book, and I also added a photo of it.

I am feeling so under the weather today in general (infection), and my head is so foggy I’m reaching out for other perspectives.

1. Have I been jinxed/hexed cursed:
Six of Baskets (Six of Cups), clarified by Black Herman (The Magician)
I read this as maybe someone from my past, or something from my past has come back/made itself manifest in my life. I don’t know if that’s generational trauma/curses (could be), or just a figure in my past tied to me that is responsible.

2. The source of the rootworker’s anger towards me:
Daughter of Baskets (Knight of Cups), clarified by Daughter of Coins (Knight of Pentacles)
I took this as, if I have been hexed, it may be a figure envious of the seeming ease of my life, that despite hardships I always bounce back or get on to something better. I specifically feel it may be a maternal figure.

3. The message to me from the ancestors about this situation:
Ace of Baskets (Ace of Cups), clarified by Aunt Caroline (Wheel of Fortune)
I think the ancestors want me to know that I’ll have grace or a sense of peace about this situation? Aunt Caroline (Wheel of Fortune) showing up says to me that whatever is going on, it’s supposed to. I can’t figure much more than that.
On a side note, in my recent RWS readings I’ve often encountered the Wheel of Fortune.

4. The remedy:
Ace of Knives (Ace of Swords), clarified by Six of Sticks (Six of Wands)
I take this as needing to confront something in the mental or spiritual realm, or a breakthrough in understanding coming. I get the idea this is asking me to act, whether that’s an internal or external thing I’m not quite sure. But with the clarification of Six of Sticks, I see it as overcoming this situation?

5. The final outcome:
Seven of Knives (Seven of Swords), clarified by Ace of Coins
I see this as the outcome as maybe a message to roll with the punches, or using an unorthodox plan to disarm this person/get over this hill? With the clarifier Ace of Coins (Ace of Pentacles), I see it as after having done that, there may be potential for a new and more stable (whether emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc.) life.

Hey yall bought this printer used (student budget) and it came without the usb b cord that connects to the modem/router

I purchased a usb b to Ethernet cord from Amazon, but its design prevents it from plugging in correctly to the printer

For anyone who encountered this, how did you get it set up for a new home’s WiFi?

Ratemyprofessor didn't prepare me for this professor's style. So many emails from my classmates about how there's so much to study in this class, but no clear focus or goal. We all feel overwhelmed. I'm in Jennifer Odom's A&P I class, and I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone.

Main Points:

• weekly tests that are the biggest part of your grade
• huge amount of shit to study that most likely won't be on the aforementioned weekly tests
• no idea of what you're going to be tested on. often footnotes of the textbook will end up a testing value
• lecture "materials" that are screenshots of the textbook and lecture videos that cover huge swaths of information (created by the professor or a youtuber), whereas the test is looking for super specific "what ifs?" that are not addressed in the textbook, homework, labs, etc.

We are told by our professor to start study groups, utilize the ttoring resources available, but if we don't know what we're expected to know or even have a hint...... it's moot. We will just be studying the same huge amount of information with no clear directive, and we can do that on our own.

I will most likely be retaking this class in the Fall with a different professor if I can get in. But I'm asking here and elsewhere on who to take to actually learn this material. I look at this class as an intro to A&P I because I can't imagine taking this class and feeling prepared for A&P II.

For reference, I study 4.5 hours a day. I read the textbook like a book. I'm consulting all available materials. I make notes, have note cards, and even extra anatomy books. Still get a 50% average on every test so far. It truly feels as if I'm studying for nothing.

Anyone taking her class this summer, or has taken her class before?

I love anatomy/med sciences, however I'm struggling to understand her quizzes. It's not clear what part of the material we engage with in the textbook, her lectures, and powerpoints will show up on the quiz.

I spent days studying anatomy terminology, ions, covalent bonds, and was making my way through all the study material.

However, the first test was mostly on cells, water and other molecules, hydrogen bonds, etc. Not much anatomy terminology.

The quizzes are also not open note, count for most of our grade, but we can have a piece of blank scratch paper (not sure what this is supposed to be for...?) and that's it.
