Can we please ban the posts asking for diagnosis of curve?

As a person with severe scoliosis it is really painful for me to see countless posts by people with no noticeable curvature coming into this group to ask us to diagnose whether they have scoliosis or not. We also aren’t medical professionals so it doesn’t seem appropriate. I understand that people want to get others’ opinions but it just doesn’t seem appropriate. Wondering if anyone else feels similarly.

What other shows do you rewatch?

Gilmore girls is the show I rewatch the most, but I also tend to circle back frequently to these shows as well:

Bob’s Burgers
Schitt’s Creek
Parks & Recreation

What else is on your rewatch list?

Random decor you’ve noticed

Today watching the basket auction episode I noticed this lamp in Richard’s study I never noticed before. Seems to clash with what decor I would imagine for him to choose for a study. Has anyone noticed any inconsistent and/or random decor throughout the show?

Did learning a 3rd+ language change your accent in other non-native languages?

I learned Spanish as a teen/young adult and then moved to Brazil 5 years ago and now speak Portuguese fluently (to the point where it’s surpassed my Spanish and now I have to work to maintain at least an intermediate level in Spanish 😭). One thing I’ve noticed since learning Brazilian Portuguese is now I speak Spanish almost with a Caribbean accent (I.e. vowels more elongated, L’s instead of R’s especially on the ends of words like “dormiL” etc) even though my accent was more of a Mexican one.

We live in a region in Brazil where the “R” sound is pronounced more lightly (Belo Horizonte for my Brazilian friends) so in some ways I guess it makes sense but feels weird!

Made me curious if that has happened for others.

Moroccan curl cream substitute

My hair is mostly 2c with a section that is 2b. I bought some Moroccan hair oil curl cream before I realized where it’s from and unfortunately fell in love with it for my hair but don’t want to support the company.

My routine is usually washing everyday with a couple days off during the week, I use Weleda ultimate repair shampoo and mask, comb through with my fingers, apply curl cream throughout, scrunch and air dry. During the winter I diffuse to about 60% dry and air dry threat.

Anyone have a curl cream they like for wavy hair?

The most bipolar part of my life is my sexuality

Sharing this experience to discuss with others if you’ve experienced something similar.

I was recently diagnosed after literal decades of ups and downs. I had been diagnosed with BPD and then even after no longer meeting the criteria would have episodes of major depression followed by hypo mania.

I have also noticed that I’ve gone through manic/depressive episodes with my sexuality. I’ve had periods where I was so hypersexual I had random sex with complete strangers (literally like a different nameless stranger every night) or am a total monk with no desire for sex whatsoever.

After I got in my first stable relationship 5 years ago, I started having a lack of interest in sex again. I started wondering if I might be asexual and the hyper sexuality was a trauma response, which I had worked through in trauma therapy.

But now after starting mood stabilizers a month ago I’ve noticed feeling sexual desire for my partner again. I feel so confused.

36, freelancer, judge my budget

I unfortunately am feeling quite behind in where I want to be financially due to some poor financial decisions in my 20s. I am a freelancer in a field that is quite rocky at the moment so I’ve had to do some significant overhauling in my budget. Currently trying to save a year’s worth of expenses in my HYSA and then max out my retirement accounts. Have cut back on expenses quite a bit and also fortunate I live abroad in a LCOL area. What would you do to adjust this budget?

Current account balances:
Business account $4k
HYSA $21k
Mutual funds $8k
Roth IRA $9k
Solo 401k $3500

Income range: $5000-9000

Budget
Savings contributions: Minimum 20% of income
(~$750 to business savings for taxes, etc
~$1000 to HYSA
$600 (max) to Roth IRA
Additional income goes to solo 401k)

Debts:
10k left on car loan, 1.5% interest rate

Necessary/recurring expenses:
$650 childcare
$650 healthcare
$450 groceries
$315 rent
$315 car payment
$300 housecleaner
$200 therapy
$150 pet care
$80 gym
$75 home expenses
$65 utilities
$50 ride share
$40 gas/car expenses
$35 phone bill
TOTAL $3710

Fun expenses (meaning if I have a lower income month I don’t include these in my budget):
$150 personal care (getting hair and lashes done)
$50 sewing classes/crafting
$40 restaurants
$30 coffee shops
$25 shopping (new clothes, etc.)
$25 travel fund
$20 gifts
TOTAL $340

How to trilingual parent?

Curious how to approach our language learning setup with my 14 month old.

Mom speaks English/Spanish/portuguese and dad is monolingual Brazilian Portuguese speaker. We currently live in Brazil and spend about 3 months per year in U.S. with maternal grandparents who are monolingual English speakers. While in Brazil, my daughter goes to daycare in Portuguese part time and is with me (mom) a good amount of time. Right now I have been only speaking English to her with passive Spanish exposure. I’m only a native speaker in English but fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and only speak to my husband in Portuguese.

I feel like we are robbing my daughter of the opportunity to learn Spanish from a young age, but since I am her sole English exposure (aside from Miss Rachel) for most of the time I’m wondering if it’s too complicated to introduce Spanish.

How have others gone about this?

Making up for not saving in my 20’s

I am 36 and was very foolish with money in my 20’s. I only have 20k in an emergency savings and 20k in my investments. My yearly income is about 72k (it varies because I’m self-employed) and I live in a LCOL of area, so I am trying to hustle hard to save as much as I can. Currently putting a minimum of 20% into savings every month, between my HYSA and retirement funds, trying to avoid lifestyle creep and as my income increases, contributing as much as possible to retirement. I know realistically I can catch up if I take this approach and don’t give up, but it sucks knowing I could’ve made it easier on myself (thinking of the years I worked at a company that had a 401k match that I just squandered 🫠). I am currently only working part time because I have a toddler but working towards increasing my income gradually with time.

My plan is once I have my HYSA at a minimum of 6 months expenses (debating if I should have it higher given I am self employed), to max out my IRA and solo 401k.

Needing some inspiration/advice from those who have experience with this.
