Hear me out.
At Jesse's Portland show last year, a few people started barking, yipping, and making assorted creature noises between songs. Not obnoxiously. Just enough to be weird. Jesse cracked up, commented on it, and seemed genuinely delighted.
Ever since then I've had a thought: what if we embraced that?
Just during the pauses between tunes. Barks. Howls. Crow calls. Coyote yips. Owl hoots. Whatever creature lives inside you.
One of the things I've always loved about live music is when the audience becomes part of the atmosphere. Every scene develops its own traditions, rituals, inside jokes. They make a show feel less like a performance and more like a gathering.
Maybe it's dumb. Maybe it's perfect?
Maybe someday people will show up to Jesse shows and hear a room full of strange critters calling out between songs...
This creature can only hope.
