Stealth to friends, closeted to family. How do you navigate the two?

I'm coming back to uni this September and I'm moving into a house. I am stealth in front of everyone in the house and I haven't come out to any of my family.

The question is, I'm not sure how to navigate moving all my stuff in, especially the mix of friends (who I am a man to) and my parents (who I am a woman to).

My mum calls me a masc nickname which is slightly derivative of my preferred name, but my preferred name is distinctly masculine so if my friends call me my preferred name I am slightly fucked but I also want to come out to neither of them. It's more important to me not to come out to my friends, but ideally neither.

The reticence to come out to my family comes more from an aversion to hard conversations than it is to safety.

If anyone has any advice please let me know 👀

What does CCB mean?

What does CCB stand for in this context? I tried looking it up but only received results about controlling or coercive behaviour

Does anyone else dread their birthday?

With my family, I'm not out and with where my birthday lies in the year, I never really celebrate with friends.

I absolutely dread it. It's not like I don't like the attention either. It just feels like it's directed at the wrong 'person'. I'm so far removed from myself pretransition that the name barely rings any bells. Just everything's addressed to someone who's not myself.

Best British Summer Bakes?

One of my housemates is Indonesian and we love baking together. I've been doing God's work for the UK tourist board with what I've shown her so far, but we haven't really made anything fitting to the weather yet.

I'm a pretty good baker, she's more inexperienced, but we don't have a lot of baking supplies and I don't really have the money to buy more.

I was just looking for recommendations of what to make (preferably something fruity and with lots of steps to keep us busy) so thanks in advance!

IWTL how to read aloud quickly without stumbling.

In a few months, I shall be a quiz master for my quiz society for an event. I read often and I can read aloud pretty alright, but it's slow. I want to read quickly and clearly, as that is very vital for the event.

If I try and read quickly now, I slur my words a lot and unfamiliar/uncommon words get completely mispronounced.

Is tea really that good for shock?

My housemate was in a mild car accident just outside the flat (not too terribly mind, looked far worse than it was) and she was rather shaken up. I saw it and immediately put the kettle on, as I've been taught by mother dearest.

I was just thinking now, is tea something that genuinely helps, or are we just British and put the kettle on in any situation on instinct?

I have four days to finish 3 essays and 4 to submit my creative writing portfolio and a critical commentary.

The only thing I've finished is my portfolio. I love creative writing. I wish I could just do creative writing rather than taking English lit as well, but that's a post for another day.

I'm a serial procrastinator, as I feel most people here may be. I think the issue is that I am completely comfortable with my abilities. Yes, I'm confident in them, but you would be too getting a high-graded essay back that you wrote the night before. I'm very much from the camp of 'any hard work is too much work'. The only hard work I like is plotting what comes next in a story, rather than judging if Tenniel's illustrations of Alice in Wonderland extend the universe or not (to be fair it's a fun essay question).

Every single time this happens, I am completely shocked that I managed to leave it to such a short deadline. I shouldn't be. This has been happening ever since secondary school. It's ridiculous.

Before someone replies saying 'get off reddit if you want to get it done', trust me I know. I really do.

I don't know if anyone else does this, but I have a lot of weird rituals I need to do whilst I'm studying. I always have to monologue about how miserable doing the work makes me, take two shots of gin and a caffeine tablet and have a shower before I start. Whilst I do the work I like to have a cocktail as well, I think it makes it quite novel and fun. It's probably not too good for me but otherwise the friction to start is enormous. Anyways, I guess this post is sort of part of this angsty monologue.

I just want to get my degree and write my little novels all the long day </3

Meal - Red snapper and a juicy peach/sour apple vape (ik boooo vaping)

If anyone has any moody and slow film soundtrack suggestions for me to listen to, I'll gladly take them. If I listen to the Conclave soundtrack again you may see me on BBC Points West.

My mum's only got one month left in her flat and still hasn't found a place to live (small salary). I'm trying to help her find places to live that are a reasonable drive to Stonehouse that are under £900 a month. I don't really know a lot about looking for flats as a busy uni student, but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

I don't mean to post this for sympathy or anything, I just want to help her out.
